  • Does this explain why i'm so horny?

  • This is a great video. I'm glad I saw it

  • So in other words we have no idea why star explode

  • they blow up after Fe is created in the core of the star and due to the difference in fission or fusion of Fe the star gets out of balance and explodes in a type II nova

  • They blow up because GAWD WANT IT TO!

  • yea...do something about it -_-

    hello?

    1. The actual stars that end with a supernova are already 4-8 times larger than our Sun.

    2. Then there's the fact that every second, the Sun emits more energy than the entire human race have ever used.

    3. It's a giant explosion that releases the outer layers of the star, along with all of its energy and deadly radiation SIMUTANEOUSLY.

How could you ever hope to "do something" about that?

  • Everybody complains about supernovas but nobody does anything about them.

  • Yes yes... we must stop these supernova b4 they start to cause problems.

  • alright lets declare war on em!

  • @StevoDog21 you cant stop them

  • @hellomon100 it was a joke

  • Interesting video, but I could've done without the butt-rock.

  • I see where they got the name for the last level in Descent 2, Tycho Brahe. search it.

  • at 3:23 it looks like a cartoon star=)

  • Great work, you specify that we still don't know how supernova explosion occours, we have only possible explanations. In science you must always have doubts.

  • Great vid, as a half Dane I can't help but feel compelled to correct you on the pronunciation of Tycho Brahe, it's actually comparable to saying "Cheuko Bra" with eu sounding like it does in "europe". Loved the video though, Cas(A) is my personal favorite celestial object :)

Theory 4. All Supernovae are exploding tennis balls?

  • *SupernovAE*, not supernovaS.

Anyway, enjoyed the jumping tennis ball at the end. Nice video.

  • the ultimate nuke....

  • Nice work. Very consise and explanatory.

  • Burning tennis bawls and ac/dc = ftfw!

  • fun video, but what's with the crappy music? it REALLY doesn't fit the subject matter!!

  • Is some of the "dust" emmitted from a super nova planet sized?

Also when are we going to be hit by the debris field from the crab nebula?

  • It is highly unlikely that a solid body the size of a planet could be expelled from the interior of a star during a supernova and remain intact. The supernova itself, however, may leave behind a neutron star or black hole.

  • It is estimated that the debris is travelling outward at about 1500 kilometers/second. The Crab Nebula is about 6300 light years away. So it would take about 1,260,000 years for any of that material to reach Earth, assuming it could make it here undisturbed.

  • what oracle said, except in shorter form

  • PS man, very well done. We have such little knowledge of the massive forces at work. You cannot resist the power of the majestic giants. Then you realize they are nothing more then you are. The atoms are the true power. The big isnt anything with out the small. Utterly amazing way to think.

  • As LeeLou Dallas would say. "Big Badda Boom"

  • I love that movie. Corben Dallas- "yes she knows its a multipass..."

  • Good job - very interesting.

  • Musik is quite innovative for this kind of documntaries. -Jorge-

  • Excellent job, well done, thank you

  • I thought the speech was excellent -- I could hear you speak clearly, which is the most important thing over the internetz.

I'd love to see a video about Pulsars.

  • great stuff. the only draw back is the narration sounded a bit forced and maybe a lil stuffy. try to relax, and have some emotional interest in the dialog ur reading. at the end of so many of ur sentences i could feel u trying end it properly, sounding like a speech given in high school. lol avoid that. thank u though, i did learn something :)

  • For a project as involved as this, you arent getting the hits you deserve (and since I have a series of Math Movies, I can sympathize). If you re-edit this to include live action supernovas from Star Trek, you could put "Trek" as one of your tags and get a lot of collateral traffic. Watch my "Physics of Starship Battles" to get the idea.
