  • Sonata: not a smooth drivetrain

  • Don't be misjudged, when they're talking about Hyundai market share they also mean Hyundai +Kia.. that's about all Korea offers..

Now imagine if every Japanese auto brand diverges, Toyota+Honda+Nissan+Mazda+Suzuki etc etc.. You will have a mega empire..

And hyundai has its fair share of problems like any other car company.. And these are the booming years of Hyundai, they've reached their peak and cannot make better looking cars because they have used up all their great ideas on low end cars

  • @MrA82361 no I don't live in the 80's I just have my bad experiences with Hyundai each to they own right?

  • Hyundai just had a recall of steering issues saying the steering wheel may come completely off the column in your hands! Sounds like a 3 stooges gag but its a real recall.

  • no matter how much chrome or how much funky designs they make for hyunais..... its still a hyundai...

  • @Em12k which i would gladly drive over most car manufacturers. You still living in 1980's?

  • @Em12k Which is why it's one of the highest selling cars this year, one of the most highly recommended cars, and also has a very high safety rating. Hyundai has redesigned the Sonata completely. Only thing it shares with previous models is the name. It's a great car. Proud to own a Hyundai.

  • In both mid range and high range rpm, the Euro 5 engines of the Hyundai and Mazda could not close in on the rear bumper of the Euro 3 Honda. Given an advantage with its older and less choking emissions control, the Accord, despite having just a 4-speed slush-box was not for the overtaking.

  • @trinoma88 Ah yes of course, the sonata is heavier same for the mazda that is why, honda make their cars very very light

  • @Bomchilaka i agree with you, yes that's technology at work

  • Recently, I had the pleasure to drive the latest Sonata with the 2.4-liter Theta engine. This engine uses the latest software to optimize its dual valve timing for intake and exhaust. Mated to a sophisticated 6-speed transmission, it should be able to make up for its lack of a V-TEC. The same can be said for the latest Mazda 6 with a 2.5-liter 16-valve 5-speed. But both were no match to a stock 1999 Honda Accord with a first generation 2.3-liter V-TEC.

  • @trinoma88 why say that when u hate korean junk?

  • Hyundai is slow in getting into the race world, but the Coupe is going to take over the race world.

  • @musclekid13 hahah yeah luv to c that happen not! never beat a camaro vette ctcv keep dreamin lil boi

  • @cholodesanfe87 On the track possibly in a straight line no. All it takes is money.

  • Twenty years ago, If I said that Hyundai will be the one of the top automotive company in the world, people would have laughed but now, look where they are. They passed Ford and is the fourth largest company.

People who is underestimating Hyundai better look out.

  • @blitz8boi they really have destroyed competition since 2008 but they made ugly cars back in the 90s.

  • over 30 people killed due to faults of toyota in US.

toyota goes bit too fast and take things for granted, usinng cheap parts ,results in poorer quality

  • Superb manufacturing tech', incredible efficiency, contribute drastic reduction on Cost,, Unprecedented quality control, brings " the most reliable car brand in the world" quoted by every owners of Hyundai/Kia recent time,... Hey losers down there, dont bark ancient story,

  • They like Korean products only because they are cheap

  • speak in the mic more, piss!

  • all these companys ur talking about have a very long background in the automotive industry.. while hyundai is just starting to hatch... give it time !

  • @koikejumei Actually if you check you see more Chevy's and old Toyota's in slums. But you know where you live...am I right.?

  • Not thrilled. Gonna buy a Toyota just cause they're still good quality, and I'd much rather drive in a dangerous Japanese car then a lame unsafe piece of shit. . .

  • @JPMazda

Who told you that! Hyundai/Kia cars are safe and they will beat the Japanese soon. I don't see any advantage of the Japanese cars over the new Korean cars. Hyundai/Kia cars improved a lot during the last three years. It is an evolution process. Wait and see.

  • Well for one thing, actually a few things. Hyundai vehicles comes standard with abs, traction control, stability conrtol, six airbags and side curtains, break assist , steering wheeles with control buttons. with a 2010 tuscon it is also equipped with blutooth on steering wheel and its voice command and so much more safety features. now im telling hyundai and kia are safe to drive than a toyota and honda.

  • @AALSHERRI

Wow, who brainwashed you? Honestly, gullable suckers like you only buy crappy cars like hyundais and kia cause you think there is "safety" to them. To be honest, no cars are perfectly safe, but hyundais and kias were never safe back then, so what makes them so suddenly safe? They use the money to advance the style and looks so kids and people who don't know any better would buy them.

  • ??? hyundai already got top safety picks for there cars . Hyundai ranks 4th in reliability behind porsche lexus and cadillac. Do some research and then make comments you wouldnt sound so stupid. Hyundai uses money to build high tech engines thats why the sonata is best in its class for mpg and has the only direct injection in its class and also will have a hybrid that uses lithium polymer batteries and no other hybrid has that. You like mazdas enough said LMAO

  • @globalk100

One out of how many? Exactly. People are slowly realizing that their safety sucks, so they build this sonata to basically say, "Nuh uh, we're safe too!" Lets see if they can keep it up.

  • @JPMazda Sonata is an IIHS top safety pic,has been more than once and it received great marks on reliability. Stop bullshitting. We get it, you like Mazda! Fine! The story is not about you or your fucking Mazda!

  • @pHvarious . . .I didn't say go a buy a Mazda. I love my Mazda, so I made it my username. . .don't be hatin'.

  • youre a dumbass

  • @AALSHERRI My guess is that someone hasn't checked the latest safety ratings. Hyundai is doing quite well in safety. My wife researched the hell out of cars/SUVs before she pulled the trigger and bought our 2007 Santa Fe.

  • @AALSHERRI You're funny! :D

  • @JPMazda LOL...Toyota...JPMazda buying a Toyota...seems a little odd.

  • @BGSUALUMNI You're the third person saying that. Also have two Fords, a Chevy, Mitsubishi, and two Mazdas. Thinking of adding a Nissan Maxima and Kia Soul to the collection. (Yes, Soul is a very fun car to have. LOL, Wanna admit that. :D )

  • The reporter reminds me of Adam Savage from mythbusters LOL

  • @koikejumei toyota recalled 8.5 million cars

  • The recall was for a very minor issue with the door handles.

The problem was when you tried to open a door while holding down the lock thingy on the door. The handle would get stuck until you unlocked it.

Like I said, VERY minor issue. Heck, who the hell opens a door while holding down the lock??

  • LOL. People talk about Hyundai's door handle recalls, but yet Toyota had to recall 8.5 million automobiles because of unintentional breaking and accleration.

  • Even with that mass recalls, Toyota still holds the top share in NOrth America, next to Ford. And Toyota is recovering fast from that shock like this month their selling has grown to 50% from the last month. Whereas Hyundai still has a lower share in NA than even recalled Toyota

  • @bronsonekkman

Really? Because according to my research it saids the opposite. During 2009-2010 Toyota sells dropped by 4% while Hyundai/Kia rose 8%. When Toyota had that mass recall it dropped even further by 2%. So I dont know where your getting your information.

  • @CHASE06051990 According to Detroit Reuters, Toyota`s sellings increased to 41% in March and became the No.2 car giant in North America, with the top is GM and Ford was No.3. It is recovering very fast, faster than I imagined. Even Nissan was increased by 43.3% but Hyndai was only 15.4%. This is amazing b/c these two had a mass recall problem and yet recovering superbly, whereas Hyundai is struggling to increase its share but not much successful

  • @bronsonekkman wrong, Hyundai never lost market share like toyota and the big 3, they have kept improving even during the downturn, so they had no low to snap back from. They will become the big contenders over the next 3 years. They are selling in every segment.

  • @raincityusa2010 Who knows? Maybe Hyndai too will have a mass recall problem and suffer a downturn. Nothings sure in this world. Even Toyota problem was in its majority a US propaganda to attack Toyota b/c Toyota became the No.1 car giant in US a few yrs ago. If ever Hyndai becomes a giant like Toyota, downturn is inevitable- if ever that would happen- hypothetically.

  • so the police officer and his family that died was propaganda too??/ wow i feel sorry for u

  • @bronsonekkman toyota actually profitted from the recals.. people traded in their prius for new non prius vehicles worth more and their sales were up 21% globally.. over half a million sold

  • @XenoRacing and over 40% in NA and 50% in Japan in March. Also Toyota`s HV tech will dominate the auto world. Already 4 different companies ( Ford, Mazda, Nissan, Fuji steel) were given its tech license.

  • @bronsonekkman Agree... And how about the customer who change his Hyundai to buy a Toyota... nobody thinks about that.

  • @EliteSlayer542 Exactly! If you fuck with it like your not supposed to you could break it. Doesn't that apply to everything. If I close my fridge door and there is a gallon of milk in the way, guess what? It isn't going to close! People are so dumb. I really wish I could afford one of these. That car is smokin' and it's built right here in the US baby.

  • amazing car

  • Toyota's been replacing all the soft rubber materials(feels better and better noise absorbing material) with hard plastic looks alike. I recent purchased Highlander and realized here and there the materials been replaced with cheap plastic looks like soft rubber material. Next time I wouldn't think about buying toyota again.. even with top of the line limited you still have to buy tons of accessories and real price tops off 42k..

  • Only Jap. automakers earned public trust on reliability,, Wonder why? Thanks to cheap gargabe American automakers. Now Hyundai's long effort brings up on top. ppl Still trying to be loyal to Jap.automakers but they know the time is coming.. pity,, Civic 's over priced.. Toyota's been cheating customers and finally got choked..

  • south korea.. wooow they are getting goooood

  • And unlike the Regal the Sonata will be made in USA.

  • @smokefreak2006

and that's how they are able to get it cheaper than Regal, becuase its cheaper for them to make it here than make it in Korea and ship it here.

  • are hundais made in u.s?

  • Yeah. Itschaer t make Sonata and Tucson here then to ship em from Korea.

Elantra and Accent will be evenually made in Canada.

  • yes , some hyundais are made in the alabama plant in the usa, hyundai has one of the most advanced assembly plants in the world here in the usa. and for GM most of their cars are now made in china. thats why alot of gm's suck!

  • @smokefreak2006 THE REGAL IS BEING BUILT IN DETROIT... DO YOUR RESEARCH

  • @jetts48

Yeah but it was designed by the Chinese

  • 2011 will also see Genesis get a Hyundai badge, Equus on the Streets, and with a new GDI system Genesis Sedan might get 30 MPG in the V6.

2011 Sonata has 20 more HP than 2011 Buick Regal and 5 more MPG than Regal. The Sonata Turbo will have 40 more (275 HP) HP than Regal GS, and 5 more MPG as well. They will be both just as equipped, but SONATA WILL BE $7K CHEAPER!!!!

Sonata also has 3 less HP than Lexus IS 250, and 9 more MPG!!

Sonata=4 banger, and the Lex is a Fucking V6!!

  • Hyundai sells very good because it has americas best warranty, its engines have been super reliable surpassing the reliability of american cars and are about equal to a japanese car, although hyundai's style was very bland before its going through a huge change now with better desirable styling, luxury like materials, incredible gas mileage and still keeping a lower price than the competition. most hyundai's now come with a ZF transmission too, ZF trannys are found in Bmw, mercedes and Lexus.

  • I beg to differ...the engine is equal if not better...the 2011 line up is actually better..technology etc...the whole nine yards...

  • @matrixloader

Hyundai has the #1 reliability of all full line manufacturers now in America. As ou sad Luxury Like, that is what Hyundai is going for.

    KIA=Toyota fighter

    Hyundai=New Chrysler

Hyundai will also each 35 MPG CAFE by 2011. New Accent and Elantra will hit the streets too soon.

2011 Accent-Engines: 145 HP, 176 HP, Hybrid, and Gen Coupe Turbo expect 45+ MPG. Sedan=Baby Sonata, Hatch=MINI fighter.

2011 Elantra 176 HP, Gen Coupe Turbo, Hybrid, and Sonata engine=40MPG

  • @smokefreak2006 hi, do u know where i can get a look at the new Accent? thanks

  • They have the Sedan Spy shots out, just look for 2011 Accent Spy Shots.

  • Really? You would rather have an 140 HP Civic, which tops $24,000, over a 173 HP fully loaded Koup at 21,000? Had to reply on that one.

  • So you feel quailfied to judge both cars even though you don't own either one of them?....... How do you know you'll happy or not if don't own one? Plus it's funny how you say it looks like a toy when you said it's a knock off of the Civic. That would make the Civic toyish looking as well. Your not making a very good case for the Civic over a Koup.

  • I'm glad you clarified your position. You don't like the way the car looks but you really don't know anything else about it...or a newer Civic. Like you said looks are subjective.

  • Is there a point to this? I know all I need to know about Honda's in general and certainly a Civic. Beyond this however, what's your point? It's very clear you like KIA--good for you. Buy it; enjoy it; end of story.

  • taking over? i dont think so. i will say getting much better but still has lots of work to do.

  • wow that new sonata looks soooo gay lmao

  • they sell because they cost less and have that warranty...I'll take a max over a sonata anytime...I have owned 3 sonatas and now they have the honda clone(sonata)

  • ditto greenrolaids.

  • hyiandi is taking over the garbage market.

The genisis has been reviewed, and it was beat by every competitor on the market.

Hyandi = shit resale value. Period

  • I bought one and it was in the shop all the time. what a piece of shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The hyundai's are nice to look at & interiors wise. The only thing is that maybe what's closet to the sonata is probably the nissan maxima which is very nice looking. What i like is hyundai's cars, the sonanata has about the same luxurys as a maxima, but the maxima is faster, more expensive(lasts more than 5yr lifespan) & you get the option of the gps. So, far hyundai needs to step up the luxury interiors for like maybe faster engines, gps so u don't have to travel to best buy for $200.00 gps.

  • piece of shit car

  • Before they take over they need to catch up first...

  • Relax! Although Hyundai is taking over nobody, they have been making pretty good cars lately.

  • i really like the new hyundai's that have come out. but that's just looks.

when it comes to performance, they often fall short of the competition and that's where it's a tough sell.

also, they're not cheap. they're priced about $10-15K under what they hope to compete against but that doesn't really matter when people who are looking at the competition are more than willing to pay that price and are looking for the performance and even the brand image.

  • you are clueless.

  • every time they have an interesting car, the press goes wild.

Then the cars are tested and they are always weaker than the competition.

    Period.

  • People on here need to erase the 1980s and early 90s from their memory banks.

I had to do the same recently.

Hyundai is doing the thing today...I dont own one, but I would not discourage anyone from going there.

Shoot - even Kia is doing ok - I drove in a friend's Sportage the other day and I was AMAZED!

Sturdy and confident chassis - tiptronic auto trans ... I was very impressed!

Go Hyundai - do your thing guys!

Shit - if Chevy can still hang around...

  • chevy, ford, hyundai, and kia, and maybe even subaru, have all stepped up their games. i think chrysler needs to do the same to keep afloat, or at least until fiats start rolling in

  • Well hyundai's are like american cars. the only difference is that they have a better waranty cause we all know both break down. Hyundai's are also cheaper to repair.

  • Comment removed

  • Hey, we don't need any language in here.

    Asshole!!!

  • exactly maybe some look for a car that lasts 5 years but i look longer not to mention as soon as you drive a hyundai off the lot it loses the most value of any other car brand except pontiac.

  • The sixth generation Sonata design looks very good and finally it does not look undistinguished.

  • the new sonata looks very good, better than lexus Es350, but the ones that will probably be changing the face of hyundai will be next years release of the new accent, elantra and the equus.

  • I've always liked Hyundais.

  • If they make good cars that can compete with the best and beat them at their own game...then let them take over. May the best car win!

  • nah, looks more like a stretched 4 door genesis coupe.

  • Lol they might be, all i know is lately their cars they have been making have all been looking really good.
