  • Wow, I love the sound of two strokes. I'm so happy to see the bike running. You showed me photos and we talked about it at work frequently, but I never saw it run. I can't wait to see the finished project! Keep up the good work.

  • Oh man i love the sound of 2 strokes. im surprised you found my video as they were meant for hvc Shop cause im picking up a bunch of parts. im always open to help ill be re jetting for my first time when i get back into town next week. any new progress on your bike since this video? always nice to connect with other 2 stroke fans!

  • @doitonadonkey

A little more progress on the bike. I finally have all the switches, lights and a speedometer cable now, just need to hook up all the wiring and the bike will be street leagal.

  • hi frnd, its fun riding an rd.

  • i just bought a 1994 ktm 250 exc its a 2 stroke. and i dont know much about bikes ive always rode on atv(utility). but i need your help? every time like right when you go to changer gears it kinda starts bogging down. ive had the carb cleaned. changed oil. which the pipe that goes into the cylinder does have a fairle large dent. do you know what it could be?

  • Hello 17Hawkeye17,

You might have a carburetor float bowl that is set too low causing your bike to fuel starve after accelerating. Maybe the fuel flow from the gas tank to the carb is getting restricted. Could be a clogged fuel filter if your bike has one. You could have an air leak somewhere. Try spraying some carb cleaner or something like that around the engine and carb area. If the engine bogs or revs up from that, you have an air leak somewhere that might cause the bike to bog down.

  • great job,, that is a NICE bike

  • Dude that som old shit! but in good shape!

  • hey quark! thanks for the wiring help. i got all my lights on but i dont have spark, i unhooked my kill switch thinking it was something with that, but no dice. i guess its time for a set of points! your bike is awesome, keep us posted on your progress!

  • your clutch sounds like its slipping, might need some adjustment,

  • Hello tregchris,

I have gone thru the whole clutch now and it still sounds just like that. The clutch is fine, I have a 45 tooth rear sprocket on the back, almost as big as the whole rear brake drum. So, it sounds like it is slipping but I can tell you, when you are riding it, it is pulling very hard from 5000rpm to 11,000rpm in about a second and a half. It all good.

  • hey there, i have a '75 RD250. can you tell me which wires you jumped your ignition switch with? i am waiting on a key from ebay but just can not wait any longer! haha : )

  • Hello crazycustom91,

I think the wiring should be the same on your bike as to mine. I jumped the two red wires on the front of the bike together to get it to start and I remove the jumper to kill the engine. I am waiting on a headlight housing to put all the wires in and I will hook up all the wires up front. I hope that helps.

  • holy shit , hook up your front brake!

  • No worries. In this video the bike was still being put together. The front caliper locked up, so I had to take it off for a test ride to check the transmission and see what shape it was in. It is hooked up and working now.

  • How hard is it to put an RZ350 motor into an RD frame?

  • Hello yammyspeed13,

I have'nt tried to put an RZ350 motor into an RD frame but I think the motor mount bolts are the same. The RZ350 motor is of couse water cooled so you would have to make mounts for a small radiator at least, and there are a few more electronics on an RZ350 motor I believe. It could be done. It would be a real screamer for sure.

  • oh wow man 2-stoke ftw!! and yeah man your clutch is really slipping bad! do you have to pre mix it? to what ratio? and how much was that beast?

  • hello linnix13,

Yea, a "little clutch slippage". I will be changing the clutch basket soon, I have a complete second one that is in good shape. I didn't want to rely on the oil mixing pump so I do run premix in the gas tank at about 50:1 ratio. I am using the Redline 2 stroke synthetic oil so 50:1 is good for this setup plus using synthetic helps cut down on the smoke a bit. I got the bike, parts and a parts bike for $700 off of craigslist. Not too bad for a 1973.

  • omg man 700 bucks! thats a steal! i cant find any vintage bike for under a couple grand littlone a 2 stroke! great find man i hope they dont go and outlaw 2 strokes

  • Sounds mint!

  • Sounds like your clutch is slipping.

Are those MC millennium pipes with FMF silencers?

  • Hello bmxdubdub,

Yea, the clutch is slipping, just havent got to changing it out yet but soon. I was wondering what kind of pipes they were, I'll do some research on millenium pipes ( are they any good?) Yes, I am using FMF silencers. I am going to cut the FMF's down a little bit so they aren't sticking so high up - try to make them a little straighter out the back. This is my first RD350 and it is just awesome to ride - love it!
