Most anime songs are sung by professional musicians in Japan, and having your new hit single play as the intro to a popular anime is extremely good exposure.

It's also because when a normal hit single is played on Japanese radio, most of the profits go to the studio: NOT the artist who sung it, but if it's put on or in and anime, they get a major cut due to local laws there.

Singers are also often voice actors.
