  • dude!!! this is a perfect rig which i want to buy in few months!! Flying v in classic white...jcm800(now i've got tsl60 but i want something with more vintage sound)...and 1936 cab... cheers dude!!

  • @djquad6 yeah the flying v sure goes with a jcm 800...

    classic old school rig

  • What are those amp settings!!! that sound ace!! I have this amp, brought it yesturday and im finding some good settings to put on it. Cheers :) Nigel

  • what is the name of the last song ??

  • princess of the night

  • Actually, there are 2 songs: "Motorcycle Man" and "Princess of the Night" from Saxon.

  • Hell Yeah Saxon tunes!

    you going to upload more?

  • i will in the near future...

    up the saxons!

  • oke, cool man!

hope too here more saxon tunes!

  • motorcycle man by saxon!

  • G'day mate,

This amp sounds pretty brilliant, really cuts through.

I was wondering if you'd be able to do a quick demo with some more 80's thrash tones (I'm considering replacing my JCM 900 with one of these). I usually have my EQ with lots of bass (Around 8), not much mids (Around 4 or sometimes less) and lots of highs (8 or so treble, and high presence) (Although, that's what I use on my 900, it'd probs be different for this)

If you could do that for me, I'd appreciate it quite alot.

    Cheers.

  • Pretty much - Think something like Megadeths Good Mourning/Black Friday or Set the world afire (Non remastered)

  • thanks ...i no longer have that amp(i have another jcm 800)

the amp really cuts through the mix..way better than any jcm 900.

buy it if you have a chance

  • if i were you...i would definetly replace the 900

  • Killer tone! What pick-ups are you using?

  • stock flying v gibson pickups...they are very good

  • I hear some Saxon in there, hehe!

  • I've got a Saxon scarf that my father gave me for christmas a few years ago, it's pretty cool

  • That amp is so crunchy! It sounds awesome!

  • Would you say this amp is better than a carvin x100b?

  • hell yeah, i hear some saxon!!! bring on the princess of the night!!! i rlly wanan get one of those heads as i am gigging more and mroe and it give me the sound i need but i just cant seem to find one anywhere?

  • That's a weird flying v. Looks in the neck pocket like it wants to be a V2, but the pickups aren't boomerangs, so it can't be.

  • hey, sounds pretty good.

do you know if the 800 2205's changed at all between 1983-1985? mines an 85' model

  • first off you should a clip of the amp. i would love to hear it...what is in your opinon the main difference to a jcm 800 one channel amp?

as to your question i think the main changes occured around 85. i personally love the early cicuits as they were tuned around the jmp model with more distortion on board as opposed to the later models (tuned more for the metal/thrash scene)

  • sure man, when i get a cab for it, i'll put some videos up... the only single channel JCM i'ver ever played was a SW model, and the big difference i found was that the done was darker, and had a bit warmer sound, but that could of just been the model... and yes, i've heard from a lotf of people that 1985 was the last "good year" for marshalls, as after that the circuits changed and they started using diode clipping

  • dont worry, jcm800s dont have diode clipping, thats what the jcm900 uses. after a certain stage of gain.

  • o cool, thanks for the info!

  • I'm afraid you're wrong, all JCM800 2205s and 2210s have diode clipping. The single channel 2203 and 2204s don't have diode clipping.

  • wrong. 2203/4 are tubes no dioides. 2205/10 are diode clipped along goes with silver jubilees and so on even teh 30th anniveersary

  • That's why the 2203/04 are the best.

  • yeah and thats why you need to get one.

  • i like the 2205s better, because this right here is like one of my many dream tones lol

  • but they have tubes too.

  • i know. but they are not real paths. its the diodes that does MOST of the crunching at low volumes.

  • sounds great either way

  • yeah they do sound good nonetheless. boosting the front end would be nice too. would sound like a high gain hairy feel guitar sound.:)

  • so you mean to tell me that 2205 and 10 are not diode clipped? coz they are and they were made long before 85

  • ya, i'm pretty sure the first couple years they made them ('82) they were all tube and no diodes, but i could be wrong

  • yes you are kindda wrong sorry. the channel switching came when the diode techonology came to marshall thats why they also featured it with the channel switching which then became teh silver jubilee aswell.

  • sorry ZW* model

  • I've done a clip of my '80 JMP 2203 -same as a '81 JCM 2203 with my V. The main difference is the amount of gain. 2203s are more retro sounding, 2205s are more aggressive.

  • Well, a lot of people, like my brothers love the Saxon. Princess of the night is a great tune, but.... I don't like a lot the "The eagle has landed" album, really. I need to listen more of the Saxon's stuff. Where should I begin?

  • you should begin as early as 1978 as they were pioneers of heavy metal

  • sounds like saxon

  • That is a great sounding amp. Are you using greenback speakers? How many watts is that head? I like how you actually have some tube warmth on the high end, do early model JCM 800's have that same sound, I am thinking about getting an 83' JCM 800 or a JMP 50.

  • thanks, the speakers are early 90's gt75.

get the jcm 800 83 and you''ll get killer tone very similiar this head (it's an 83 jcm 800)

  • marshall is THE amp!

  • sounds like motorhead tone. awesome!

  • I have similiar gear. Yea, Saxon, rock on :)

  • Lead channel Vol 8 and gain 7..Turn down the overall master...Bass 9 mid 7 tre 5-6 Rock on!!..Mercury Magnetics will light up this amp.. I have a VooDoo 2205,sounds good!!!....

  • Excellent! You just don't hear enough Saxon on youtube! Rock on - I just bought a 2205 after listening to your clips!

  • well done:)

add an equilizer in the loop to tweak your tone...these amps rock

    cheers

  • I have to agree with the saxon comment, one of the most underrated metal bands out there.

By the way, Princess of the Night is one of my favourite songs.

  • thank you:)

  • Good Work. Even greater sound. Excellent playing. Cool gotta get me one of these after my jtm-45 for heavier riffage of Doom.
