@steinijg well its an official olympic language along with english....and french is one of the only languages apart from english and spanish spoken widely on more than 2 continents...so its still pretty major...and its the most common language in africa....so no wouldnt say its useless ay

@steinijg Because French and English are the official language of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) since the modern Olympic games was founded by a Frenchman-Pierre de Coubertin. If you watch any other Olympics ceremonies, every announcement are always in French and English and the language of the host country in this case it was French, English, and Chinese.
