  • Notice at 1:00 the hanger Joe is holding and tapping with goes behind the other hangers.

  • @Eric10987654321 It does kind of look that way, but it is probably a video compression artifact. If you watch his original video in HD the hanger stays in front.

  • Nice!

  • Impressive!

  • @ChristopherMast Thanks! I'm amazed you even found this old video. I figured with that cute girlfriend you were long gone from YouTube. :)

  • this theory is true, he said that freddie wong helped him with this, and freddie is quite good at making clones of hiself

  • what's a matte....the way I originally suspected it was that he had the camera mobile on a tripod, and just set it down between instrumentals. then, he'd move to the next position, and just slice that pause out, which might cause some tracking errors that could be fixed via directly editing the frames (photoshop?). then, he'd just subsitute in music instead of using the cam (obviously, at some points, the cam's way too far to pick up an acoustic guitar)

  • @ablahblah54 No, no pauses. A matte places one image in another. Wikipedia has a good article (top google result for matte).

  • in 2:22 of your vid, you can see a hand in the lower left corner

  • @NikWillOrStuff get glasses. that's part of the stair railing.

  • I think you said you downloaded MGM's original video, so I was wondering how I could download it.

  • @joemaff14 type in keepvid.com or savevid.com and u can download youtbe vids

  • everyone knows that MGM have clones.

  • yes... this is more rigth...

  • What is a Matte MGM?

  • @simenjk Other guy

  • @habboboom Other guy? What do you mean with that?

  • i dun care wad mistake he did,the point is that he is creative and the music he created is awesome

  • wow, very good

  • oh right, because i totally thought it was real.

  • i like bears

  • how do you got the time to discover this!

  • whats matte?

  • I've studied and studied this video now I get it!!....now

  • T'was not black magic!?!?

  • You frikkin genius!

  • @Doggies2625 Myatery Guitar Man

  • @ 1:24 the screen goes completely black allowing for a cut.

  • @texabyte it doesnt go completely black

  • @texabyte

I don't think it goes completely black. Might though.

  • @ 2:26 you never see his face clearly so it could just be a body double.

  • Conspiracy Mah Faice! MGM Haz Teh Clonez.

  • That Tight!!!! I never notice that

  • MGM faved this :)

  • FAKE AND GAY!

  • lol on screen bleeding. good work figuring this out!

  • lol bleeding

  • cool!

  • is matte the same as a mask?... or are they entirely different?

  • @johnremcastro A matte is similar to a mask--they both are used to combine images. With a matte you usually draw the outline of the area you want and you can animate the outline, where a mask usually uses pixel values in the image to control the compositing.

  • @BGenerous hmm, tnx bro... i'm using sony vegas 8.0 pro ever since... i already came up with videos where i have a "clone"... and i use masking... and i can animate the outlines of the mask to compensate with the motion of a moving camera... does this mean that matte and masking are different approaches to achieve a same end-result?

  • @johnremcastro I took a look at the Sony Vegas manual. It looks like a "Bezier mask" in Sony Vegas is equivalent to a "matte" in Final Cut. Probably mask and matte are interchangeable, it just depends on which software you use. Matte is a term that comes from motion pictures (with actual film) and mask comes from computer graphics. I guess in video (moving digital images) the two terms have come together.

  • @BGenerous we'll itsbeen an honor for you to shed some enlightenment to my queries... tnx.. now i understand how different approaches can achieve the same end-result...

  • haha, MGM favorited this video!

And nice job on the vid, clearly he thought so as well.

  • interesting analysis. Makes MGM's video more interesting to watch. :)

  • awesome video, yo.

  • does knowing this make you a better perseon?..... no :(

  • you are super smart man!

  • You did a damn good job spotting all of those!

Everyone has been wondering how he did this. :D

  • I take it that MGM just wants to use as little mattes as possible

  • wow! i did not think of that! amazing! also, im not sure if this will mean much, but, notice in his other looping around video he used a steadicam (used to make smooth movement) , but this video you can easilly tell he did not use a steadicam. could this also mean something?

  • @SamWilber I'm not good with these kinds of effects, but I think the creator of this dissection sort of alluded to it. I think that the reason he didn't use the steadicam was so that any little imperfections wouldn't be spotted with just the human eye, unless someone slowed it down and pointed it out.

  • fantastic... now we can rest assured the MGM really doesn't have clones... his work is an excellent application of optical illusion...or at least digital optical illusion... anyhow, this video does not diminish the value of MGM's work. It does in fact deliver more interest regarding his skills, so that we could expect a lot more of great videos all of us could enjoy... keep it up... ^_^

  • what is matt?

  • @12eeeee "matte" and it is basically a way to cut a person/object out of a video and insert them into other pictures/videos in many special effects programs, such as After Effects.

  • On Screen (bleeding). Great.

  • this is all wrong!!! MGM has clones for sure!

  • @kamikazecrab Don't be silly! If MGM had clones, then this video would have to be part of a conspiracy to cover that up. Wait, pretend you didn't hear that.

  • @BGenerous haha! great job with this vid btw!

  • @kamikazecrab

    MGM is a ninja

  • @kamikazecrab He is a looping WheezyWaiter

  • i bet i cud do this with out a matte...just hide the cuts very very well

  • Dude,you are just SO awesome,smart,and....SEXY?!?(JK)

But you are awesome thanks 4 the vid!

  • whoaa cool you pointed these things out! but i still think he's a genius! :D!

    but 5 stars though!

  • @mimpone he broke the glass with his right hand & bang the table with his right hand too =P

  • A great analysis! Congrats

  • Great dissection. However, one thing that I noticed was that you mentioned that the matte of MGM was gone in the hallway when he's sitting and playing the guitar...he's supposed to be gone. I took it as he's only in one space at a time, however he's just there very quickly. I don't think he's supposed to have multiples of himself at one time. I don't think MGM was thinking cloned MGM's all through the vid.

  • @MacktasticDazzle I agree with everything you said. Basically I just thought it was an interesting detail about how the video was assembled, so I pointed it out.

  • @BGenerous Yes, sir. Again, great great dissection! Keep it up.

  • @MacktasticDazzle Ya that's exactly what I was thinking.

  • fuckin genius

  • You have to admit though, it's pretty damn cool.

  • @IagoDoll It's VERY cool! That's what made it so interesting. :)

  • @BGenerous now, if only i knew what type of matte-ing he used... keyframes or difference...

  • awsome analysis =D thumbs up

  • I think both videos are really cool!!!!

  • Ah eu vi que ele tinha sumido la atras na parte do violão mto bom (Y)

    Brasil

  • you are beast.

  • what is matte?

  • nice job mate

  • I don't try to solve how MGM does his videos.. I just try and enjoy them. But great job picking out all of the editing!!

  • awesome work jeje

    very nice :)

  • hmm, if he's bleeding when he broke the glass, then he run upstairs to hit the table, why there was no blood on the table LOL..

  • @demon7s

    Other hand...

  • AWESOMELY done bro :) keep up the good work btw i suggest that u could make a video out of the bells like school,door,cell,.....etc ;)

  • Just shows that he is very good at it

  • clever!

  • thats quite sad how you noticed all them :/

  • not bad man

keep it up, i always wonder how mgm does this shit ;-)

  • How do they keep time throughout filming!?!? they must get off beat at some point, unless they recorded audio and did a playback or somethin, this stuff is crazy!:)

  • you must have a lot of time on your hands...

  • just jealous!!

    you are ridiculous!

    MGM

  • Wow, you took time out of your actual day to do that. You could've just enjoyed it like the rest of us! "Oh and there's a matte (???) there and discontinuity in the blah blah blah" yeah.....sick.

  • what software did he used?

    can you tell me?

  • @lukerz342 he uses final cut pro

he said it in one of his videos but idk which one.

only available on mac though. . .

  • Nice, but this video actually looks very professional... Well done MGM

  • pretty smart

  • The fuck is a matte?

  • it means he it wasn't one shot but it wasn't cut either he just filmed himself multiple times and played one video in one other

you can do this with a program like.. adobe after effects for example

  • Wow. beast.

also, nice, mysteryguitarman favorite'd this! xD

  • Way to kill the "hes a wizard" mood!!!!

  • Godd Job. You make a good detective. You spoted things most of us missed.

  • Really cool and well made video!

  • @LoverAlwaysBroPo A matte is a way to cut a part of one shot and paste it over a part of another shot, ideally so it blends in seamlessly. It is pretty difficult to do with handheld shots because you have to compensate for the camera motion, but MGM's video did it quite well.

  • i dont know why all these people are mad at you for figuring this out, that is what MGM asked us to do so good job!

  • lol @ Live MGM: On Screen (Bleeding) =)))

  • Dang man! You have a potential career in this. Nice job.

  • woah

  • Achar defeito é fácil, fazer melhor que é foda. 8D rs

  • Play Canon in D by Pachelbel on glasses or rubber bands or something.

Viva o MGM!

  • @edsonbakana This is not a criticism of MGM. He invited this analysis. This video shows his excellence. The small imperfections are clues to his technique. Unless you know to look for them, they are too small to notice, and do not make his video any less. Part of the art of film making is knowing how to trick the eye. MGM knows how to do this, and we can learn by studying his work.

    Portuguese Translation

  • @dvpdanielvieira Did you see MGM's comment on this video? / Você viu MGM' comentário de s neste vídeo?

  • wow

  • MGM favorited this video!!!!! AWESOME! :D

  • Nice job on figuring it out!

  • para de ferra o trabalho do cara hehehehehehe

    muito bem feito

    Brazil.

  • @TheDrjoy Obrigado

  • This is amazing!!

  • Well done! A very good deconstruction. I didn't notice the mattes, but you made spotting them quite easy.

  • Very great job!

  • I still can't fathom all of that.

  • also at 2:20 notice the texture/color of the wall on right side of the video...it changes a little...but you can easily noticed the a cut has been made there!!!

  • so he had two mgm i never thought of that

  • look at the girl in the green shirt's reaction to hi-fiving him, its crazy

  • so nice man!.. i was searching that!

    thnx!

  • really good

  • Mystyry Guitar Man actually favorited this =D

  • @scampynoXD I was wondering why I was suddenly getting so many comments!

  • he did a really good job editing i would have never noticed

  • traduzindo... tudo isso significaria?!?!?!

  • hehe the girl at the end looks at her hand thinking wtf blood?

  • HAHAHAH MGM you got PWNED!

  • get a job mate.

  • at least his videos are cool

  • Thanks for making this video. I totally get it now and it makes so much more sense.

  • What do you mean with Matte MGM? Might be a stupid question :P

  • very well spotted. how many times did you watch to see them?

  • @topgamerguy Where he's sitting in the hall I noticed on the second viewing. Some others took, um, dozens? Let's just say a lot. :)

  • Wow you'd have to be looking really closely to notice that

  • @UmiChan08 It helps to watch the HD version. Frame by frame. :)

  • i thought it was just a green screen...but that is definitely better looking

  • That seems like it would be awfully hard to do without a tripod. Very impressive editing on his part!

  • @ChemicaVision you can thank freddie wong for that, that guy does some insane editing check out his channel

  • @ChemicaVision That was my thought too. He must have some good motion tracking software, or a lot of patience with key framing!

  • Plus you know that MGM booked it out of the door because the lady looked behind her like someone just streaked out of the door.

  • @Tyler29294 Good point! I've always focused on looking out the door, I don't think I noticed she was looking back.

  • aww i loved this video i fell i need to remove the original from my favourites now. Thanks

  • Gracias, ha sido fascinante descubrir el truco. De todas formas es un video muy bueno el de MGM

  • @mellusalex De nada!

  • @mellusalex Español ftw!

  • damn i just thought he knew how to teleport.

  • "matte" or whatever it is called,it's like the panorama on the still camera, right?

  • Matte means you paste a scene/pictures in a clip

  • you should join CSI or some kind of investigating job that was remarkable!

  • @darkstars101 Well, Gil Grissom IS my hero. :)

  • well i dont care how it works... he did a very good job with it and hes a very good entertainer ;)

  • so wat is a matte exactly is it like something he would film on a green screen and then throw in the video or wat?

  • @reidnielsen Right

  • i still don't get what a matte is but great video

  • Amazing! :)

  • who cares its awesome ;)

  • Dude that was amazing...

  • what do you mean by matte mgm?

  • darn you! regarding your annotation... there were no cuts ;) right about the mattes, though!

  • @MysteryGuitarMan on 2:22 is a cut ;-)

  • @MysteryGuitarMan why hasnt this vid become more popular after you commented on it? it deserves many more views. no?

  • @MysteryGuitarMan Lol Cut the act mysterygutairman we all know you have clones!

  • @MysteryGuitarMan my guess was black magic. You're a genius, by the way.

  • @MysteryGuitarMan Well you asked for comments on how you did it. Somebody had to step up! And since I've done it before... :) I always learn something in the process. BTW, I removed the annotation--I was only pointing out that it was the kind of place that is useful for a cut, but in hindsight it was an unnecessary comment. Keep up the great work!

  • Man MGM! I was waiting on you to tell us how you did it! Way to go, some one beat you to it! Hahaha! Love the vids man
