Hey! can someone that owns an eclipse please tell me if its worth buying a 98-99 eclipse with +130k miles on it? I need a car and have always wanted a gsx or gst but I would still get a non turbo'd one. I am a college student so I don't have a bunch of money and don't really wanna buy it if i'm just going to be replacing the motor right away. THANKS
@dsm2gnick Since this 1/4 mile pass I've upgraded to a Shep 4 AWD trans and a 4 spider center diff. Unfortunately, this track was the only quarter mile strip that isn't a 5 hour drive and they've closed down and we're stuck with a local 1/8th mile track. Either way, next time I make it to the track I'll be using the NLTS, Hoosier DR's, and the specially geared Shep 4 working for me. Hopefully the car will be a bit faster...
@gavinj2000 A seller on eBay called specialcarbonfiber, I just had a local body shop color match the top of it but its a full CF version of the stock spoiler.
nice car. the MPH is there for you to go 10's. just gotta get the shifts quicker and the 60 ft should be around mid to low 1.6's super clean car i like it.
That is an amazing car, 11's on street tires. A short throw shifter would decrease your shift time and allow you to be on the throttle longer. Other than that I think you don't need to change the car anymore.
@zorny79 the car already has a B&M short throw, but since this run I have installed NLTS in hopes that it will decrease my time between gears and hold boost while I'm shifting.

@sergsrt8 Without meth injection or E85 a boosted car thats relying on those will not be able to push as much boost without the intake stream getting too hot and blowing the engine. E85 and Meth injection keep the intake air COLD which wards off detonation.
@Protecthishouse94 $2k for the donor GSX and about another $1k in upgrades when I did it, I figured while I was in there I might as well put on parts that could hold the horsepower. The swap took 3 weeks in a buddies garage, neither of us new what we were doing either just learning as we went. It was also a A/T to M/T swap too, so it took a bit longer than a FWD to AWD swap.

@daveishere911 thats impossible to estimate, I've got receipts for all the parts but so much has been changed during the build. If you want a close "guess" just go through the mods list I included below the video and add up the cost of parts. Don't worry about labor costs because I did it myself or had help from good friends that I credited in the video. I bought the car for $4k in 2006 as a GS-T and an automatic transmission, in 2008 I got a totaled 5-speed GSX for $2k and did the swap.

@97awdgst i would think it would cut better 60fts then that really. i have a low 13sec awd trailblazer ss that cuts 1.8 60fts on 20" rims at 5200lbs. i think with the dr and the clutch you will get high 1.5s

Hey 97awdgst what mods did you do to convert your fwd to awd? Just wandering because i thought you can only do those on the gst spyder convertibles since they have the provisions already there to mount the drive shaft bearings to the the undercarrige.
@1998gst4611 The mods to convert a hardtop to AWD are the same mods you have to make to convert a spyder to AWD. The carrier bearing/exhaust hangers for an AWD car are the FWD's exhaust hangers, you've just to weld the GSX ones in place.
