  • I think that Mravinsky and Jasha Horenstein made two most beautiful interpretations of this symphony. They are very different. In the last movement - Horenstein`s interpretation is slower ,very dark like music from grave, but Mravinsky is also moving ..... maybe little less reflective Thanks for this music!!! :) Mravinsky was a really genius of Russian music (Schostakovich!!!!!:)

  • @PraetervolansNoctua Sorry for a mistake - I thought about the beginning of first (not last) movement...and of course Shostakovich :)

  • ¡¡¡ INSUPERABLE !!!

  • !!! BRAVO , BRAVO , BRAVÍSIMO !!! Qué trio de monstruos excelsos. TCHAIKOVSKY , MRAVINSKY Y LA FILARMÓNICA DE LENINGRADO, juntos la belleza TOTAL..

  • If perfect Karajan did not exist, this performense is the best one we can listen. If he did not live in old Soviet, ・・・・ I am sorry ・・・T-T Thank you very much for uploading…Thank you.

  • @keiji4956 You prefer Karajan to this? Compared to Mravinsky, Karajan's Pathetique is absolutely bloodless.

  • @shellac1925 I don`t think so.As persona non grata, he was not accepted by Israel people. When I was listn to this tune conducted by Karajan I felt and thought his sadness. But sure this performense is very excellent, this is the point of when you listen to this tune.Ididn`t think Karajan is bloodless T-T

  • @keiji4956 Aren't those "Israel people" unreasonable, getting all hot and bothered just because Von Karajan was a card carrying Nazi starting in 1933.

  • @theemperorsclothes I think as you know, at Carnegie Hall in about around 1955, Von Karajan performed some tunes ...but audiense was only several old jews.....all seats or tickets was bought by jews finantial groups. I always think his pain. May be he also was cured by this tune.As Nazi party menber he did musical acts, but .....

he musted be burdened Nazi crime..T-T

  • @keiji4956 Ah yes, the "jews financial groups" persecuting that poor Nazi von Karajan, who just did "musical acts" --- did those acts in place of the more talented men whom the Nazis first denied the right to employment, and then, if they stayed in Germany, killed. It was of course Hitler's line that rich Jews cause the problems of the world, and here you are, ludicrously applying that fantasy to von Karajan. Fascism is not dead.

  • @shellac1925 Fully agree :-)) Though I love the Karajan/BPO performance. No orchestra in the history of music has surpassed the Leningrad/St. Petersburg performing Pathetique. This recording is immensely emotional - and I have seen the St. Petersburg doing Pathetique with Jansons and Temirkanov, in person, just blown away.

  • Musically superb, but not pathetique enough. Sorry.

  • @dragmio Can you please tell me what exactly needs to happen to be enough pathetique for you? Do you need him to slit his wrists on the picture?

  • Самое потрясающее исполнение из когда-либо мною слышанных.

  • @SuperLuckydream is this chinese?

  • @Maewynn2011 It is Russian.

  • After performence,I really deeply impressed by this one.He was a east Maestro of the period of east-west-cold-war.Thank you very much for uploadading.

  • forse solo Celibidache ha raggiunto la profondità ed il dolore tragico che promanano da questa pagina musicale, pur con l'adozione di tempi diversi.

  • The ebbs and swells, the flow of life coming to a slow, tranquil, but sorrowful and despairing end...

    Tragically and achingly beautiful.

  • Потрясающе !

  • Gran emotividad, profundidad y perfección.

    Great emotionality, depth and perfection.
