Yves served as a fighter pilot in the Swiss Air Force, flying Dassault Mirage IIIs, Northrop F-5 Tiger IIs and Hawker Hunters. He flew Boeing 747s for Swissair. As of 2008, he was flying for Swiss International Air Lines
Seriously though, it would be cool if this could be turned into a spectator sport. Might become the new macho testosterone sport, ahead of IndyCar racing. That would help to evolve the technology faster, too. I can picture the Goodyear blimp over a stadium/field, with a bunch of these jet-men jumping out and zooming around, to kick off the jet-men games.
This is just the beginning of flight, up and down with jetspeed. Sooner, they are going to build an Iron Man suit for Yves Rossy -Iron Man. No more Jet Man.
Homosexual activists understand the power of words.
Please visit my channel to watch a one-minute video clip in which popular atheist author Richard Dawkins admits that homosexual activists "hijacked the word 'gay'".
The word "homosexual" is more appropriate and accurate because it, unlike the word "gay", actually describes the behavior/attraction/relationship being discussed.
The word "gay" helps homosexual activists push their agenda.
@yynnmmbb No chance of this ever breaking the sound barrier. He can't really go much more than 200mph. The speed of sound (at sea level) is about 750mph.
@yynnmmbb Um, how old are you? Have you ever asked yourself what would happen to the human body if exposed to even 500mph air flow? Air feels like a brick once you get into the upper hundreds. As a pre-teen, I understood the nature of the air I breath pretty well. If you did, you wouldn't have asked that question lol.
It's a very ignorant and moronic idea to suggest any limbed creature be exposed to raw airspeeds that high without the protection of an encased rigid structure for support.
Would anyone be so kind as to name the song that plays at the beginning of the video. If it is a moby song could someone please name it? it fits the video perfectly. great mixture of energy and emotion
This is something I saw on Roadrunner.Wild e coyote assembling one of his gadgets from the ACME co. Stand up! EVERYONE GET UP! Something this amazing requires an immediate standing ovation. Hell, I'm in a wheelchair & even I stood up...thanks to this man we may all be not just on our own two feet on solid ground but up in the sky! I read about the news when he crossed the English Channel, I saw him a few months ago briefly in a video which recorded one of his flights, and now I finally get to hear from him in detail. Every time I am amazed at the technology. We're all going to be flying! YES!

that aside thanks for making time to respond to my comment
@Nyocurio ...the sun provides freely more energy in one day than all of our invented designs put together do (i forget the ratio but it is astounding)
any ways that aside thanks for responding to my comment
like wtf do you mean. billions are spent on scientists and engineers around the whole world who in turn are spending years worth of research just to increase THAT rate by some few percent, and that's still considered a huge break-through. Do you have any idea at all what you're even talking about?
@TheSpankymonkey thanks for responding ...we have been talking about making the committment for years ...that's just it ...i'm curious what do you consider "relevant places" ?
@gaiagale - Plenty of solar energy advocacy groups around and websites to discuss solar energy. The main stem of the problem is that you simply can't outperform fossil fules at the moment, Not in long term costs to satisfy the required investments etc. Sure on paper a lot of them can but they often don't factor in a lot of other costs such as the environmental costs, legal costs, land costs etc. You would be very suprised at just how much progress is being made on it globally, if you looked.
@TheSpankymonkey interesting comment ...I am aware of some of the progress moreover I consider this one of the "relevent places" ...incidently are the "jetman" people "factor in a lot of other costs such as the environmental costs, legal costs, land costs etc." in this "fun" project? ...are the fossil fuel harvesters?
There is little that is new here except the steering ...Y.R. explains how he uses his body(with air potentiality) to steer because a mechanical system would only add weight
@gaiagale - Well it's hardly relevant is it, solar energy has nothing to do with this video and even if you made an extremely tenuous link you still wouldn't be able to get from this to solar energy. As for the costs of this project, i doubt this was really a factor (other than his own personal limits) when he began doing it, much like a lot of hobbyists, though i am sure you will find more people that will attempt this type of project than solar energy, simply for the fun factor.
@TheSpankymonkey every thing is relevant especially solar and wind energy when one decides they want to fly
I agree in that I am sure 'we' "will find more people that will attempt this type of project than ..., simply for the fun factor." ...yet I stand by my first comment in fact now that I think about it the solar solution eliminates the weight of fuel ;-])
@gaiagale that only would work during the day or not overly cloudy its not overly practical for this application, though a better fuel source would be better such as fusion or fission
@gaiagale it would still be but even on a clear day there may still be a few clouds in the sky or a storm or a cloud front could sneak up on you and then it would be unsafe if you had a power loss a few hundred to thousand feet up not a fun landing
See this is the problem with those sciency engineering types. They want to play God. Flight is God's territory. Step off, alright, pal? You aren't supposed to be flying, you heathen!
