ugh MY UKUKELE makes that stupid sound and i can't figure out if it's just me plucking the strings wrong or if i need higher quality ones...! but other than that, you make me really want to play the harp!
Is this the Flowers of Edinburgh? I thought it was some other song that I can't remember its title.
The lyrics (as I remember just a few) are like this:
"Come along, come along, with your booty and your song to my hide-away..." Also " ...cause the Redcoat is gone...." and "Here's one for my King, and the other for my Queen..."
Thank you for posting your nice rendition on the harp. You may wish to consider renaming this video to Planxty George Brabazon by Turlough O'Carolan, as Flowers of Edinburgh is an altogether different tune.
Yeah I was going to say, I also know that one by the name Planxty George Brabazon. But it could also very well be named Flowers of Edinburgh, Carolan took a lot of existing tunes and wrote lyrics for them, this is probably just another one of those. :)
hmmm i think I have to take that back...i've just been listening to other versions of 'flowers of edinburgh' and it is a different tune than the carolan one...
Just a suggestion: try putting hard nylon strings on it get rid of most of the 'plak!' sound, and if you bend the fingers down, rather than out, it will stop any stiffness developing by relaxing the muscles of the hand. your hand can get used to anything but pushing down rather than out pumps blood into the hand, pulling out makes the muscles tighten, stopping blood-flow getting into the muscles. I'm not advcating a pedal harp position. just a change of angle for the health of your hand
what bozo disliked this? idiots.

You've misnamed the tune in your title this piece is not the Flowers of Edinburgh but Planxty George Brabizon by O'Carolan.

I HAVE to get my harp fixed, i've got the same model as you, but the levers are plased wrong somehow...
Silmaril11 3 years ago
I have the same harp, called the Minstrel, and the levers should be tuned by loosening with a screwdriver and re-positioned using a tuner.
