  • you know youve been to too many rock concerts when your deaf and you know which venue it is in a second by looking at it : /

  • Eddie!!!

  • classic monsters of rock !

  • i guess Dave can't do his same exact act like here, nowdays, he is prob too old and would look foolish, but i sure do miss this Dave, he had an attitude and a swagger that was just right for the band, today he walks around like he has to take a dump or something worse (he already has taken a dump-in his trousers!!lol)

  • wow theys hot here

  • joyful and swingin'. they sure suck donkey now

  • love how they show Eddie for about 5 seconds of his guitar solo. Yeah show Mike Anthony! cause thats what was cool about that part....

  • i was there.

  • Co za asy!

  • @Stalaur

    Fuck off.

  • Fuck Duran Duran

  • Great memories for me. Massive DC fan and they blew DC away this day

  • anyone else here a Van Halen AND AC/DC fan who wishes they were at this concert?

  • @80sRockIsKing yeah, this concert must've been the best thing ever. It's a shame I wasn't actually alive in the 80s, ha ha

  • really bad camera. what a noob

  • LO MAS VAMOS VANHALEN!!!

  • @Kickstart25, Ozzy blew everyone off the stage that day.

  • Poor AC/DC, they actually had to try and follow this. Haha

Looks like what I heard was true...they got wiped all over the stage by the mighty Van Halen!!

  • Saw them on the Fair Warning tour in NYC in '81. Missed the '84 tour because I was probably stoned. Saw them in '86 with Hagar. The golden age of Halen was unquestionably the David Lee Roth era. The guy was simply ROCK AND ROLL.

  • Saw them on the '84 tour in DC. Classic. Most memorable was Diamond Dave saying "Yea, those parent's groups are after me again. I just tell them that I may not go down in the history books, but I'll go down on your daughters!!" It was an epic show. 20' in front of the stage, dead center. Perfect. That night was a highlight of my youth.

  • Ed was untouchable back during these days

  • gettin sick of all these shitty ass recordings. are there any good quality videos on here of live music?

  • Dave forgot how it went and totally butcher'd it. Great song on wax but horrible performance on Daves part he must have been bloody annihilated.

  • Ahhh... old classic Diamond Dave...

  • Why is David Lee Roth spinning like a girl at 0:20 ? Oh, Never mind.

  • the customary bottles of piss being thrown around in the air..i remember i was there in 1991 and ac/dc were headlining...the bottles of piss were there then too...

  • I think htis version is cool

  • At a big show like this, and the US Fest 1983 u think Dave would be concerned with his singing, but at both shows he just got ripped out of his mind and pranced around, putting the vocals second to his goofing around stage presence.

  • @theShowStopper321 haha i was at the us festival that midget kept bringing him jack daniels

  • I've gotten so tired of Dave's sloppy fuckin talentless performance style over the years...why don't you try and sing and quit being the biggest attention whore on the stage.

  • @zdamron He has ADHD, so that behavior is semi-understandable. I also agree, and he couldn't really sing anyways. In the studio he would only sing one line at a time.

  • Honestly, they totally screwed up with this live version of an excellent song! It looks like they were a band who wasn't tight at all! Very disappointed about this version, it sucked ass!

  • DLR is sexy

  • crazy crowd XD

  • much better quality than the other vid of this show

  • Wish this was on DVD!!!

  • i was there....one of the best gigs ever

  • @iwoody1000 you lucky bitch.

i wish i could die and reborn te be in front of that row .

    damn .

  • i was there....10000 bottles of piss flying in the sky....best gig i ever saw

  • my dad was there lol

  • ur dad was one lucky son of a bitch!

  • i know!!! haha

  • @TheSv696 thats right .

  • is michael's bass a customized rickenbacker?

  • If i could live one day again it would be this one. The greatest donnington line up there has ever been!

  • @jacobslad Totally agree! What a day!! travelled down from west coast of scotland overnight, totally shagged but great weather, great bands and beer...never forget it!

  • what a shame that Van Halen left DLR! Reminds of that great line from "Airheads" when the station owner sided with Van Halen. Some people just don't understand!

  • this song is fucking amazing. vh is the best!

  • DLR is such a fuckhead but god damn I love him to death

  • i love play this song with drum!!!!!

  • no way!

  • idk vocals are annoying but drummer and bass kick ass for rush

  • dude this is a van halen video, fuck rush

  • 00:21 just goes to show how much of a god eddie is on that damn guitar lol

  • you know thats just wah affects... nothing that good only a pedal...

  • wah effects? Im not sure you know what a wah is....he hits the whammy bar in that spot.

  • he doesnt use a wah pedal all he uses is a flanger... good job tho dumbshit dont diss eddie

  • Eddie Van Halen even said on numerous occasions that he just doesn't use em at all.

  • let's rooooccccckkkk

  • yeah camera guy ignore eddie during the solo and focus on him exactly when the solo ends lol

  • tiene años que no oigo ese rolon no mames si estoy viejo uuuuuuuuuuu puro desmadre

  • why is the fuckin camera on mike ?

  • what the hell is the camera on mike for?

  • if dave did suck which he doesn't the their would have never been van hagar

  • whoa! You said it partna!

  • i love van halen but i'm not shure if they come to pay live i will go it's junt that they sound so much diferent live id preffer the studio sound

  • They were just too stoned out of their mind to function i imagine. They sound a lot better live now.

  • thats for sure saw em in 2008 FUCKIN CRAAAAZY

  • Whats with the cape Diamond Dave???

Typical of him..... gotta be noticed !!

  • Thats why he's the front man!

  • sweet vid

  • I hate when they drastically change the solos in concerts.

  • van HAleN nUmBER 1

  • it's just weird seeing van halen playing in front of english fans.

  • DLR prances around like a freakin' MARY

  • i know...he cool but i hate how he fucking acts soooooooooooo hyper queer

  • yeah, right?! they were so much better w him than with hagar, but still, DLR was way better to hear on record than to see on stage flittin' around with his lita ford hair and his twig n berries on full display!

  • eddie is better tha angus... alex is beter than AC/Dc's drummer but i find david lee roth kinda of an asshole

  • david is one thats why van halen kicked him out cause of his big mouth! i think

  • There is no " better" they were all brilliant. Rory Gallagher, Hendrix, Halen, Angus etc. There is no better when talking about such things.

  • Theyre all good at wut they do, who cares whos "better", they all have their success and fans.

  • The difference with Eddie Van Halen was, when he hit the scene not only did plebs emulate his style but also other guitar giants.

Look at Angus Young, a blues guitarist doing tapping techniques (i.e. Eddie's signature technique) on the solo of Who Made Who.

So it was actually AC/DC chasing Van Halen.

  • Not Technically

  • TO pull off a track like this in studio is one thing, but live only shows how awesome live they were in their prime....no one came near the VH boyz...

  • im pretty sure many bands not only came close to VH, but were *gasp* better then them by far

its more like VH were chasing ACDC

  • is the bassist playing a pin striped schecter? the head looks like the synyster gates custom model

  • looks like a Rickenbacker mate..don't know what model though

  • i know right. fucking camera man.

eddie just fucking rips it man!

  • thats alex lol

  • I love how Eddie breaks into his solo and the camara guy is on Mike the whole time... Wake the F$@#% UP camara man !

  • @colin1262 hey this shit happened all of the time during the 80's look up Ozzy Osborne Crazy train and you will see that the guitarist Randy Rhoads' solo is almost completely cut out just to show the bass player

  • @EJG5150 lol dont know how just a repeating parttern the solo is more interesting.

  • @colin1262 I think he thought Mikey was EVH until someone in the control bit enlightened him - whata muppet

  • @colin1262 i totally agree. No offense to Mike. I have this Deep Purple video where the rarely show Ritchie Blackmore. Pisses me off!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Ancient...

  • this is one of my favorite tunes. vh is the shit

  • love this song

  • david lee roth eddie van halen is there a name more badass than those 2 FUCK NO

  • I rly dont see Dave trying to upstage at all whatsoever. Dave's Just insane and doin his thing. Just like Led Zeppelin, Van Halen had 4 unique elements that made the mighty machine work. Dave was just one part, no better or worse than anybody else. It's just the way dave is

  • Comment removed

  • Yea, would be better if Dave was a wallflower. You just do not get Classic VH.

  • Comment removed

  • Classic VH is about bring over the top, wild, colorful. Early VH was quite macho and powerful. I'm glad it wasn't "toned down." It all visually matched the music perfectly. A rocketship taking off. Standing there in jeans and looking down at your sneakers - no thanks!

  • I disagree. Bowie and Kiss was responsible for the likes of the glamed-out lipstick-wearing likes of Motley Crue and Poison, etc. No lipstick and makeup for VH. VH was a visual band live and in those album cover pictures from day 1. The visual parts are an intergal part and not the part that will fad into history separate from the music. None of the in-fighting was telegraphed on stage. Dave did not demonstrate a look-at-me-don't-look-at-the-guitarist attitude.

  • The spotlight was on Ed during the solo, for example. Dave always sold Ed as the new guitar god for the 80s. No upstaging attempt.

What is legendary in VH history is the opposite: Is Ed's jealousy of DLR!!! Ed's insecure and incorrect comment around 1984 that not many people would fill the arena if not for DLR. All Eds whining and control issues after the split.

Dave sold the band image. It was Dave's idea to name the band Van Halen (he liked the mellifluous sound of the name

  • that reminded him of Van Morrison). Not the act of a jealous man.

Sounds like you have LGD. Lead guitarist disease.

AC/DC with Brian Johnson when he first joined is the only band that seemed to have the guitarist up front and the singer in the background. All the rest has a lead singer and a great, stand-out guitarist. No "upstaging."

  • Yeah, Eddie ruined the band in my opinion. He wanted more of the spotlight. He was too jealous of DLR and all the pussy and attention. Bummer, cuz they both are great performers and should have just kept on rocking.

  • So right that they should have just dealt with it and kept on rockin.' Hagar did pretty well, but by no means was he DLR

  • @1kydde2 You got that right... when the lights go up he just switches on. I saw them live a few years ago - Dave's about 55 at the time... lights come up... smoke starts pumping... and here comes Dave - runs out to center stage and does a double-foot kick off the drum stage. The audience flipped. I was blown away. It didn't feel like a reunion tour - it was like going back in a time-machine. They sounded great and they pumped hard for 2 hours like they did back in the '70s/80's. It was unreal.

  • el es increible

  • this is what the eighties were all about..

  • After they make a new album with Roth I hope they play in the UK again, all the bands I like are old and getting tickets is soooo hard but hey.... I succeeded with AC/DC tickets recently.

  • i think im the same3 way lol i got acdc ticets too along with metallica but i live in US

  • me to they said summet about europe in the 07 press confrence

  • yea, eddie just made tapping famous. hes also really really good at it. jeeeeze sweet vid btw!! saw them 3 weeks ago awesome concert!!!!!

  • He didnt invent it...ppl were doing it before, he just used it so much it becaME his thing in like every solo...the tapping in the beggining is actually really easy and if i like hurt a die hard VH fan saying he uses it in like every solo VH is my second fav band so im not a hater

  • your a retard eddie did so much and he has a feel for every note he makes. you could never understand

  • Yes indeed sir

  • good shout sir!MR EDWAR VAN HALEN HAS ROCKED AND CHANGED THE WAY TO THINK AND PLAY THE ELECTRIC GUITAR LIKE NO ONE ELSE,NOT EVEN HENDRIX!

  • No one would have given a shit if hendrix hadn't opened the 'play loud and play with feedback' doors that hendrix opened... and I'm sure if anyone could tell you that it would be ed...

  • and thats wat i meant when i said " if i like hurt a diehard VH fan saying he uses it in everys solo Vh is my 2nd fav band im not a hater"...thats what i was trying to stop...i didnt say he didnt hav a feel for every note and i realized he did a lot but seriously i love Eddie, i play his stuff all the time...

  • Did anyone else catch Eddie messing up at 34 seconds in? This is the first time i have ever heard him mess up a note.

  • No biggie, everyone fucks up, it wasent even that noticable

  • i read in their book they said eddie got the idea to tap from jimmy page using the violin bow, he would hit the frets so eddie used his fingers..but he wasn't the first one 2 tap he just made it famous.......awesome video!!!

  • Hell yes, the tapping in the beginning is freakin' amazing!

  • i love how they show everything but eddie during the solo, thanks for that camera man.

  • haha

  • looove dave lee roth!!!

  • damn...they must of got laid like 20 times after this

  • you could run las vegas from the energy coming of that stage

  • you could run the entire USA from the static electricity coming off the bass players nylon knitwear.

  • I like the edited version better, But still great :D

  • "lets see what the bands are like yeah"

    lol

  • Im gonna have to say i like roth and sammy both the same but man does roth ever deliver performance here THIS IS FRIGGIN SWEET

  • Words can't describe how good of a guitarist eddie is...

  • he is the lord of tapping, bow down to the greatest!!!

  • he invented tapping u idiot of course hes amazing

  • Actually he copied Allan Holdsworth

  • Sorry, it was a violin player way back called Paganini or something

  • he said he got is inspiration from watching jimmy page do heartbreaker live when jimmy was tapping

  • the word you were looking for was "unreal"

how unreal of a guitarist eddie is

  • Dave was a great front man. Eddie at his best here.

  • eddie, the best!

  • favorite song by them

  • i heard you missed us were back!

it was good to hear those words from DLR back on stage with VH.

  • what an amazing guitarist !!!

  • I'm sorry its North West Leicestershire, United Kingdom

  • where was this?

  • This at the Castle Donington racetrack, Donington Park. England.

  • Oh yeah!! Lets film the bass player and the other dip-shit camera people while the guitar solo is happening....What's the matter with these pricks?

  • wow he is just completely trashed huh

  • Good Lord, is that so long ago, I was there and it was awesome, one o the best line up's ever (motley poo not included).

Now - I'm just old...... but not as old as Roth.

  • Caputo1000 is the gayest person ever for sure, what a fucking stupid thing to say, hang your head in shame you son of a bitch!

  • What a day...the best Donnington I ever went to.

  • it would be better without david lee roth, he cant sing for his life. SAMMY HAGAR FOREVER

  • note that its called van halen, not van hagar. Sammy hagar cursed van halen for life.

But i think that we can all agree on two things:

    1. David Lee Roth looks like a hippie in this video

    2. Caputo1000 is the gayest person ever

  • Classic VH with DLR, was full on rock!!Van Hagar just pop music.Dont get me wrong, i love all VH!!Sam could sing,Dave was the entertainer to which all others were measured. There is no comparison!CLASSIC VAN FUCKIN HALEN FOREVER!!!!!!!!!!PUNKS!

  • awesome. sometimes i wish dlr would focus on the lyrics though

  • I think it was then Accept, Y and T, Gary Moore, Ozzy (with Jake E Lee), Van Halen, and then the mighty AC/DC!! Fooking great day out!! the best!! (apart from the shite that was motley crap!! Seriously, why do people think they are any good?
