That was painful to watch. This Johnny dude is a snail, the video quality is not great, the audio is terrible, and often five seconds ahead of the video - so you get the applause way before the deciding shot is even played.

All the pool games are in desperate need of getting some sort of time control. Even chess has it, for heaven's sake.

I do agree, however, that Johnny, as the great player he is, seems to not be very comfortable with 8-ball games.

I'll use the occasion to praise (and thank, in the unlikely event either player reads this) Judd Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan for giving us a rather *excellent* final to the Antwerpen snooker tournament. Pity Trump won on a pig (rather than without it) but both played extremely well and frankly it couldn't have been called undeserved whoever had won. Fantastic snooker - and, at 10 min/frame, not in need of TC.:)

Instead of hiring commentators, I wish they would just give the players each a headset and they could dictate their time at the table, and the sitting player could commentate as well.

This is incredibly nerve-wracking. I couldn't play Archer without insisting on a 45-second shot clock. Varner needed some 5-hour energy shots. I play league pool and we played a team with four "Archers". Sixteen league games took 4 1/2 hours, or 1 1/2 hour longer than any other league match this season.

and the game is becoming at such level that any miss may means defeat

@400timesmore It is crazy that anyone puts up with that. Even beginners can clear the table in 15 minutes practically every time. And look at snooker - it certainly takes even more planning and more defensive consideration AND is more difficult to execute, and yet every top snooker player (yes, even Peter Ebdon!) is lightning fast compared to this guy. (The fastest, most entertaining, are just incredible; look up Judd Trump and Ronnie O'Sullivan if in doubt.)

@jaybanthony the way my father, and mentor taught me was that you take as long as you need for each shot. if you see something, or have a thought about a shot you stand up.

however with that said... yeah this guy is slower than molasses in january.

I enjoyed this video very much. I like what the commentators said about having a video of players that have to lay out a table and we can see what order they are planning and how often it changes based on cue control and be able to hear their thoughts or see it on over-write on the table with a diagram drawn for each shots. That would be very cool for those of use that are watching to see the top players thoughts on patterns etc. Thanks for the great video. Dave Justine
