I was gifted for xmas the book "Who Repo'd My Jet" when I finished reading chapter 6 I felt compelled to google you and commend you on your stand, music & words.
Very catchy tune & lyrics, all very true in more ways than just Aspen. Welcome to the New World Order: the elite wealthy class & their peasants/slaves (no "middle class"). Aspen has been a perfect example of that for decades. Not surprising w/its own NWO "think tank" in its midst (Aspen Institute). - Signed: Former Aspen Times employee & "ASTC graduate" '75-'80. :)
The disc is titled: "Small Town Love". So where's the love Mr. VP?? I mean he was booked at your venue and the song was requested by YOUR paying customers....sounds like "big money" by Danny was a threat to even bigger money for the VP. So Mr.VP take your tacky fur coat off and pull your wife's hummer out of your ass and take a step back. You aren't getting the message.
Dan is my uncle and I can honestly say that I have only listened to a handful of his songs but when I recently herd about that shallow "big money" ski resort owner canning him it made me sad. The owner proved Dans point of the song, big money ruins everything. Clearly the big money mountain owner just tried to ruined a very well liked, small town musician living on a small town musicians income (partially living off your "Big Money") but mostly living off pure talent and fans willing to pay to
i saw dan sheridan in aspen, colorado like 10 years ago i still got the disc that i buy and its amazing, i saw him in snowmass in aspen , somebody knows if he stills in snowmass??
exactly why i moved away from self described 'victorian seaport and art community' ten years ago. the locals either have to leave or sell themselves....
The profiteering of few, the detriment of many. I am all for capitalism and its ideal, but I also understand the consequences of continual growth and excess---also, you don't need BIG MONEY to create jobs, enhance medical research, or be altruistic...if altruistic self-interest could be achieved; understanding our actions affect everyone and become a more cohesive society and selfless, we can achieve the same plateau of prosperity. Do you know how much hard currency is currently in print?
I don't normally dig folk music but this track is banging. Go you. Way to stick it to the man. I read about your misfortune on the front page of Yahoo News. Absolutely disgusting.
Good for you, Dan! 'Big Money' is on a par with Barry McQuire's 'Eve of Destruction.' The good folks in Montana understand exactly what y'all are singing about. Keep it up, Bro!
Bravo. Amen to you Dan. The same is happening in Mexico. The locals of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, can no longer afford to pay rent in town so they have to commute from other towns to work there. It's no longer the bohemian arts colony it once was.
My definiton of greed is: "When having too much money is never enough."
When are you going to go on tour? Others need to hear your voice. Keep up the good work.
Read you in the LA times this morning. A folk artist myself living in LA...born and raised in CO..not completely an oxymoron, as we are all just human beings passing through. Way to go on your celebrity. Hope you have fun with it.:)
Great song Dan. Love it! I remember in the early to mid 80's when the mom and pop shops in Jackson were pushed out by the "Factory Outlet" stores and Designer Boutiques. Same thing happened in Big Sky too. thing It was downhill from there. What a sad truth. I think Apen like Jackson's version of Rent-A Wreck, became a Mercedes with a scratch on it...
YES!! read about your firing on front page of Jackson Hole Daily this morning and had to check out the song. didn't hear mention of the $2,000 season pass that no one can afford though...
The town has sure changed alot since 1972. The song has alot of history and truth in it. Things sure have changed in the last 38 years. The Mountains have not changed they are as beautiful today as they were years ago and the skiing is still woderful just very costly. Very good guitar playing and singing and the message is right on the money! Keep up the good writing and singing.
Great song about corporate greed and insensitivity to all the 'little people' of the world. I hope that the rest of the world gets to hear this song. Go Dan!

Agreed... but miners didn't exactly help matters either.
BTW, the dust up over this song featured in the Chicago Trib today.

It's happened all over the UK too! The countryside is disappearing under concrete boxes because people are allowed to have TWO homes!

Big money might suck but sure is handy when trying to create jobs, enchance medical research or help the disastor victims in Haiti.
