  • interessante, che bella vita fanno questi mandriani!!

  • how long did it take you to get through those calves? and how many people did you have working on that bunch?

    Brasil..

  • thanks for posting this video. great music and I love seeing things done the old way. still better if you ask me. free range and no motorcycles getting the animals all worked up. its going to take a week to get the smile off my face.

  • Great Video!...I love Cowboys!

  • Also if you jerk down a calf it forces the roper to get the calf up and flank it down, thus adding to the time. It is not a positive. The fast guys like Cody Ohl, and Trevor Brazile rarely jerk down a calf. It is never done purposely by the real pros.

  • @granitehills2t LOL what! Feb 2011, now they are going to enforce it? LOL OK sure. Also comparing it to football? You are comparing animals who don't choose to participate in your abuse to football? C'mon man you're totally absurd. I sarcastically commented on this vid that that jerk downs are not nessary and then you backed me right up! LOL No real rancher would abuse their stock like that and highspeed jerk downs are unnecessary, thanks for backing me up!

  • @sohcsarewicked There are no bonus points for a jerk down if that is what you are implying. Jerk downs give the contestant a SLOWER time!!!!!! Let me emphasize the word SLOWER!!!!!! You win by being faster!!! DUHHHH. If you must pick a calf up after it is already down and RE-FLANK it, you will not be as fast as a person with a clean run. I never said it was necessary in fact if is not wanted! You are ALREADY penalized and could be disqualified!!

  • A slow confined branding trap is different to what may happen in a doctoring situation on the open range. Sometimes whether you are buckeroo or cowboy it is necessary to chase a cow, calf, bull or steer and get it caught. (Slow is always better, but sometimes you have to build to an alert fast one) The jerk down can happen depending on the terrain, youth of the horse, style of horn or skill of the roper. A conscience stockman keep the animals welfare in mind. It is $ in the bank.

  • @granitehills2t If it is clearly illegal then why does this latest video show high speed jerk down and wannabe cowboys who have no control of their horses? "2010 Pendleton Rodeo Abuse"

  • @sohcsarewicked Some rodeos enforce it, some dont. If you read the by-laws for most associations they specify what is a disqualification. It is at a judge's discretion and most worry only about the barrier and if the calf gets up. I suggest rather than get anal ulcers over you-tube videos, you should take it up with the rodeo judges that do not disqualify contestants for jerking down calves. Seriously, it is easy to be a whiny keyboard jockey and harder to actually do something.

  • @granitehills2t It seems you are the whiny one , when I point out that no one follows the mythical "strict rules" you believe in and then I point out in these videos high speed jerk downs are not necessary it seems to have your panties in a bunch.

  • @sohcsarewicked Ok for the last time, jerk downs are unnessary but they happen. And I never said "strict" rules. They are now readily enforcing the jerk down rule as of Feb 2011. Perhaps while trolling the internet you found old pictures or watched Shark propaganda but I assure the rule is now more widely implemented. But like an unnessary roughness rule in football it can be subject to interpretation.

  • Well Rodeo cowboys say their roping is the same as takes place on the ranches, are you saying rodeo cowboys are lieing? Why dont you make the calf run at full speed then rope its neck and yank back making it spin in the air? Someone is not telling the thruth.

  • @sohcsarewicked What are you trying to prove? Jerk downs are enforced more than ever in rodeo events across the nation. Depending on the situation at hand, it is indeed necessary to "build to" a cow to doctor, remove it from the herd etc. Chasing is necessary from time to time. And jerk downs happen particulary when roping with rubber. Slick horns that burn rope make jerk downs much less frequent. Perhaps you should research or ROPE on a ranch before being so damn smug.

  • @granitehills2t Are you serious? You should search for the video called "Cheyenne Rodeo's Disappearing Humane Rule " The point is despite what rodeos thugs might lead you to believe doing a full on highspeed jerk down doesn't happen on the ranch and is not necessary. Your rules are worthless.

  • @sohcsarewicked Uhhh that is the Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo. They rope mulies for crying out loud. You dont know what that means so I wont embarass you further. You know nothing about roping so just stop while you are ahead. The high speed jerk down is avoidable by setting up your horse correctly and knowing how to throw your slack. It is clearly illegal in most calf ropings and you will be disqualified.

  • @granitehills2t You seem to be saying a high speed jerk down is not necessary.

  • We love this style of branding. It is hard to find any ranchers up around here (Cody, Lovell, Powell, Clarke etc.) that will let you rope in a nice big pen with pairs. We also love to head and heel. If you all ever need help give us a shout! We come with good references and nice horses. We are always looking for a low stress easy going FUN time!

  • donze52 on youtube

  • what is the name of the song that plays at the beginning of this video? and who sings it? thanks

  • Felicitaciones, buenos vaqueros y enlazadores.

  • very good! these images serve as inspiration for my paintings! (Brasil arts)

(Brasil artes)

  • This is good stuff! Good music! Nothing more fun than spring branding! Good friends, good horses, good times!

  • I often wonder to myself what living this kind of life would've been like...

Somehow, I just get a feeling that having been raised surrounded by concrete and pavement just isn't good for you. Even the trees in the city look sad, feeble and worn out... I can't quite explain it.

  • i wonder if this is the ranch my grandpa carried on the tradicion of the vaquero......

  • Realmente admirable.

  • Good music and good hands. But don't forget some good cowboy logic, keeping your eyes off the horn keeps your fingers out of trouble. Tried and true.

  • Buenos vaqueros y buena música Real Cowboys.

  • You guys are pretty handy but you wyoming guys need to put a little shape to them brims of yours

  • cowboy hats in the 1880s were flat brimmed hats and was the same concept of the sombrero

  • Excelente video!

  • Excellent

  • Outstanding video! Hope you're all having a good winter. Happy New Year!

    Joel

  • Also wanted to add that ya'll are lucky. It seems that most of the babies are around the same time. My brother just started managing a ranch where the owner didn't manage his bulls well so his cows are calving pretty much year around. Trying to get it sorted out but the last couple of years, we ended up working calves ranging from newborn to about 500 pounds. Yuck. LOL.

  • I love it. Reminds me of how I grew up. I especially love the catch on the kicker at 1:28. I always seem to have a problem with kickers, I can only manage to catch 1 foot on them most the time. Great video and thank you for sharing.

  • Good hands, good horses. All nice and quiet. You make it look easy. Excellent video.

  • I didn't reallize this wasn't too far from me. It didn't realize it was by Rawlins til you mentioned it on Facebook.

  • Really liked your video! it's hard to find ranches that still brand with cowboys, ropes and horses. We also still do it that way! great backhand catches and nice horses!

  • Put me down for the next trip!!! :)

  • The "hand from California" is Jake Tuckey, who now lives in beautiful Dubois, Wyoming.

Go Misty! I didn't get to see you rope at the branding I went to. You rock!

  • Thank you, I made an update.

I was told the last time Misty roped was when she was 12... is that true?

  • I stopped roping when I was 12 (got into a wreck....) When I was 16, my Dad talked me into roping at our branding. Tried roping with Ash once......so I guess I have an excuse for not gettin both heels, hehehe

  • Thanks for the update Misty!

  • @TheRanchMom I hate you. last time I used a rope I cought myself about four times before going to have a good cry. I know I suck :(

awesome video. I envy that life style. grew up around it and life took us away from it but I still miss it.

    thanks for posting.

  • Man this video is the best glad finallly some one got a good video of what we do for a living oh ya whats with all the single hocks!!!!!! just kidding

  • We kinda got in a hurry with a storm coming in over the mountain from the west... So they weren't too picky as the lightning was getting closer. By the time it hailed on us my Camera Battery was dead, they had 5 head to go in the hail storm and got them done and I wish like heck I could have gotten that footage.

    Thanks for the comment KV

  • the horsemanship is awsome

  • I wanna go!

  • That looks like it would be so much fun.
