There cards may be good for todays software, but ATI are going to do there best to make use of there new & more efficient GPU design. Nvidia is still touting the nearly 10 month old G80 design in there new cards, even the GTX 280 uses the same basic design. Nvidia needs to change ;)

Great Buy!! AMD official statement is that theyll do it when the performance penalty for a single gpu is acceptable. That will happen when Q3 2009 games are released.

To be sincere the gpu physics game for 2008 is a win for nvidia, (9800gtx+ + 9500gt for physics) or (GTX 260 + a 9600gt for physics) these are the best performance/cost combos for physics enabled games (10 titles at most), I recommend it if you are an early adopter that has to have them. However Havok runs in 150+ games.

AMD isnt paying a dime to Nvidia, the dont want know anything about cuda, since it aint an open standard, its just an open api controlled by a single company, so new versions are controlled by Nvidia not a group of companies like in AMD hypertransport consortium. Nvidia helped some guys in a Nvidia forum to run physics in ATI card, it was a mkt move so users promote the use of CUDA, which unless it becomes really open, it will be like iphone (good but too damm limited), or like intel`s usb 3.0

I love my old 8800gt even after installing my 4850 crossfire, but its true, Im testing a 2004 quadroFX540 and softmodded it to a 6600gt using rivatuner, and boy! the anisotrophic 2x of the 6600gt drivers looks bilinear compared to the quadro´s, which is identical to the 4850 ani 2x

First see them as cores, then so, Intel has 8 while Nvidia has 240, but it doesn't mean that Nvidia´s cores are more powerful. Their architecture its just different ATI has more narrow cores (less instructions per clock balanced with more cores), Nvidia´s are wider (more instructions per clock with less cores), Both architectures I admit are a brilliant evolution from the previous.

Cinema 2.0, is a platform which uses (Phenom Quad processors, RV770 crossfired, and amd 790GX chipset with hypertransport 3.0) is about work station content performance quality for the masses, I mean 20% more performance than the $649 Nvidia GTX 280 with 2 4850´s at $380. Cinema 2.0 is meant to state that AMD can provide a platform while Nvidia sells gpus. Marketing Gimmicky gone right.

WOW I have an 8800 but this demo compared to nvidia´s gtx280 medusa demo makes nvidia look like an N64, Y the gtx280 is 15% quicker and have ageia physics but its also 200$ more, the 4870 will sell at 299$ its confirmed, thats 80$ less than the gtx260 and the 4850 (8800 sli performance) is at $189 at fxvideocards site. this tells a lot about costs were nvidia hires TSMC while AMD owns fabs.
