  • Gizmo's father is Nigel and Penny is the Momma from Flying W. We picked her up in December 03.

  • Our puppy is also from the Flying W...see How To Give a 13 wk old mastiff a bath...she's a cutie...I don't care what kind of mastiff she is...

  • @Darkrunner2 - It's crossed with an Anatolian Shephard, not Mastiff. I have one, and I know.

  • @potion320

    Anatolian Shepherd = Anatolian Mastiff

They're the same kind of dog, different name.

  • @hitheresunshine I'm sorry? Where does it say that?

It won't let me post the link, but go to akc site and it makes no mention of of it. If you look at the bottom of the page about Anatolian Shepherd, and click on 'Did You Know?', it again makes no mention of that fact. I looked everywhere and googled...'Is an Anatolian Shepherd and Anatolian Mastiff the same breed' and found zero. I like to learn new things, so just wondering where you got that fact. I love to learn new facts.

The website of the creator of the American Mastiff breed. Flying W Farms.

"This was accomplished by crossing the English Mastiff with the Anatolian Mastiff during the early development of the breed." -Fredericka Wagner.

Here, I'll even sort of post the link,

    flyingwfarms [dot] com/amastiff_index [dot] html

That's where my dog is from. I'm from a neighboring state, so I got my dog from Flying W Farms. Was told it was half Anatolian Shepherd. Hmmm, still could not find anything about it being the same kind of breed, besides word of mouth. AKC can't be wrong. Yet to be determined. I love a good discussion.

  • Truly a hard luck life he's got going on there.

  • i wanted to pet the crap outta him

  • Whats an American mastiff? I have an English mastiff. I've never heard of an American one. Different?

  • Its basically an English Mastiff without drooling.

  • Sweet, I didn't know there was such a mastiff! Thank you for the info! Maybe down the road our house will be cleaner. Our beautiful girl drools so much but we love her non-the-less! She's from a mastiff rescue, so when it comes to giving a dog like these a second chance I'll take what I can get. Thanks again.

  • you may have to seek out breeder if you want an american there are only 10 breeders in the world allowed to breed them. its a very close knit program they wish to down the line be considered an recognized breed by the akc
