Allows you to overclock more easier and adjust the multiplier. Also you are not required to use the Intel CPU cooler to stay under warranty.

Yet remember that the 1366 board i7's regularly have higher RAM bandwidth yet if your running on 4-6GB it won't necessarily matter.

@aviation: It totally depends on the batch and the particular chip in question. There are big variations in what individual chips are capable of both within a model line and between models. I'd say go for the 875k as it will do whatever you need it to do, and you'll be able to play with more settings because the unlocked cores, so it's a lot more fun. Nobody needs a 950/X58 set up unless you are running 3 or more graphics cards and 3 or more monitors.

as I am watching this video my stock i7 is already at 50-53 degrees and chrome/youtube is the only thing I have open. That heatsink would probably be ok with i3 though.

@amoresai most boards, like Gigabyte and ASUS have a pretty much 100% safe method to flash the BIOS, and simple recovery methods if the power goes out.

Just update the BIOS anyway, sometimes it makes an OS more stable even if it didn't say - stability enhancement in the BIOS update description.

I've got a P5Q Premium, I updated anyway, added more features, and it's compatible with every chip now. Before I was limited to a few Quads and Extremes.

I have a few questions, I wish you would reply too. Will my Asus p7h55-m Pro support these new CPUs. Also, These CPUs don't have VPro, does that mean there will be another generation of I5 and I7 CPUs out in less then a year. Whats going on with I3, I like my little $100 4ghz CPU. And the last question is, Intel is making CPUs more Overclocking Friendly. If you do overclock, does it still void the warranty?

It's for their new 32nm architecture known as "Sandy beach", it's going to be LGA 2011 and LGA 1155.

They say it's being released in end of 2010 or start of 2011.
