Looks very cool. I'm thinking of buying a Lemur. Is this avail for download in the user area? It's not totally clear what the sequencer is capable of. Is it possible to provide a short description of the capabilities? For example, can I have lines with different total step lengths, different resolution. Can lines trigger each other, etc...
I'm a programmer myself. What is your experience programming this thing? Totally rad or lots of limitations and tedious work. Thanks in advance.
It's not yet available. But hook me up with your e-mail and I'll mail the Max source for it.
It's a simple twelve track step sequencer with flam, mutes and other goodies as demonstrated in the video. Different beat divisions per track, but not different length.
I'm not a programmer, but I managed to build a bunch of patches. But for everything of weight I've used Max/Msp in conjunction with the Lemur. I like it and will most likely not let it go anytime soon.
I think the Monome has a more solid base of pre-made patches. The Lemur is more versatile but probably demands more of you. And yes, Max (PD, SC or Bidule...) is needed to get the most out of it.
It's partially true. There are indeed many ressources and premade patches, but Monome is a bit older than the Lemur, I think this may change in the near future.
Well, I posted an updated Monome emulation (MonemurV2) at jazzmutant for the Lemur. So if you want to try a Lemur, you can use Lemur specific apps OR Monomome 40h/128/256 apps as well. Even a Monome needs to be tethered to the computer. Since a 256 is $1400, the Lemur starts to look like a better value. LoFiMassahkah's sequencers are very cool and I hope to see even more sequencers and innovative apps on the Lemur. As you can see from my first post in this thread. This inspired by purchase.
Do you think there is a cheaper multi-touch solution, such as a tablet pc or nintento wii-mote rig? I understand if you wore a proper glove you can achieve the same results...
Or are multi-touch surfaces like this still pretty expensive if you wanna use your fingers?
Just deciding weather to buy because if your spending 2k you could maybe get a bigger screen too
apart from not being a musical demo, i think that from the lemur examples i've seen until now, is one of the best musical results. and the interface seems to be very well developed. congrats!
Don't know if you want crits but I think the first kick drum sound needs work. Nice sequencer. When the second part comes in, it's pretty dope. Might even start it earlier.

Sounds exciting.
I tried and failed to use my Monome as a analog-style sequencer of my dreams.
I may want to buy a Lemur, so.
But I guess that you did all the sequencing stuff under MAX/MSP ? Is that right ?
If the Lemur can't be a standalone sequencer, it has less appeal for me.
Thanx in advance, and nice work :-)

I don't really need critique on the music part. It's subjective - but most of all I'm demonstrating a sequencer. Not giving a concert.

In that case, pardon me. Nice work.

That's allright. ;-)

I don't like how it sounds. But sure this interface looks sexy.
