I would agree with most of these, VersaEmerge is missing. If you like Amy Lee you may like "To Paint The Sky", they would be on my list thats for sure.
I would consider expanding and possibly adding: The kills, The Primitives, The Breeders, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Garbage, Lush, Curve, Veruca Salt, Sleeper, The Sneaker Pimps, PJ Harvey, Portishead, Metric, Throwing Muses, Elastica, Concrete Blonde, Echobelly, etc. I could go on and on. The great thing is there is no right answer to this. There have been so many wonderful female singers that have made the modern music scene so incredible.

I love Amy Lee as a singer, but I'm not a huge fan of Evanescence (although I am fond of them don't get me wrong). If I made a list of the best vocalists in rock imo, this list was be COMPLETELY different.

you should definitely get Blood Red Shoes on here, they're a really cool indie/alt-rock duo from Brighton (England). if you're American and therefore probs haven't heard of them, u should certainly check them out

Whats wrong with you ppl? There are MANY different rock/hard rock/metal/heavy metal, and something to appreciate from any band (as long as their music doesnt just suck ass completely), but to say a band is medicore is only really you either think you have better taste in music, or you just don't listen to that bands sound, thats it.. They all sound different and there's something to appreciate in all of them.
Well at least evanescence is in there but in my list they wouldve been way higher up lol but alot of these are great bands. I disliked paramore at first but once i started listening to more of their music i came to like them.
what the hell is so good about Paramore?? they are very medicore. The best vocalist and rock female fronted band is by far Garbage with shirley manson :D Shirley Manson is the queen, followed closely by Gwen Stefani.
@No1shakirafan its been my experience that every single person whos called paramore "mediocre" has never even heard one of their albums. if the only songs i heard by paramore were crushx3, thats what u get, & decode i'd think they were pretty mediocre 2. its not paramore's fault the label releases their most "pop" songs as singles. if youve listened 2 riot from beginning 2 end & u still feel that way, then i guess thats just ur opinion, but if not maybe u should give them a chance b4 u criticize

@eraser175@eraser175 umm....sorta...emo, in terms of music, is categorized by lyrics. very emotional, personal, deep and expressive lyrics. a lot of bands will write at least one emo song in their career nowadays, but some bands write albums of "emo" or emotional songs. bands like sunny day real estate, the cure, depeche mode, and dashboard confessional just to name a few. i think people get confused when they pair emo music w/ emo style and culture.
@datickywickygurl depeche mode is quite nice most music is about emotions and have a deeper meaning, except rap, its about them big booty bitches :3. but again, i labeled and that was wrong, and isnt it logical that i link emo labeled music with the culture?
@eraser175 yeah its logical, a lot of people do it, but it isnt always correct. for example, just because someone has an "emo haircut" it doesnt mean they are "emo" or that they even listen to emo music. sometimes people automatically associate emo style w/ emo music, and even though they do go together most of the time, sometimes they dont. oh and although i happen to like the big booty bitches song, wut u said about rap music is kinda true. the only exception is this duo called chiddy bang.

I would pick: The Dead Weather, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts; (going back some years) Fleetwood Mac, and Dead Can Dance; and (going back many years) The Supremes, and The Mamas and the Papas. Also agree that Chrissy Hynde and The Pretenders should be on there; and Heart. There are also a lot of great female solo artists, like Janis Joplin and Patti Smith.
No offense but Paramore as number one? Above Sleater-Kinney, No Doubt, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Tegan & Sara, and Metric, really? Number one?

paramore can't be no.1, what is so good about good them? haley sounds like any other chick that can sing and they're ok but i wouldn't say they're the best.. maybe because its the only band people over rate and you hear so much about, but i can think of better ones..

well to me female fronted simply means that there is a female fronting the band where some of the bands you've shown are not all female fronted, i was simply stating my opinion. meg and dia arent even a female fronted band.

Well the last time i heard of Meg And Dia they were a two piece band and what i'd call an 'all-girl band', but it's been a while since i listened to them.. so i only assumed by the name itself they still were, however i just found out they they added an additional 3 band members. I could get technical about it but like i said, imo i wouldn't class them as all female fronted.
Sorry if i didn't make my point clear the first time so hopefully this'll break it down for you. But logically this is what i think best describes a female fronted band (imo): 1 leading female singer, mostly males(band members) with an exception of 1 or females besides the lead singer, which also includes backing vocals. If you think about it though, most bands consist of males with a lead male singer/vocalist, BUT when there's a female, she's 'leading' the band, making it a female fronted band.
In regards to Paramore though, i don't really have anything against them. Most people think they're good but probably because they're so commercially well recognized.

Whats wrong with you ppl? There are MANY different rock/hard rock/metal/heavy metal, and something to appreciate from any band (as long as their music doesnt just suck ass completely), but to say a band is medicore is only really you either think you have better taste in music, or you just don't listen to that bands sound, thats it.. They all sound different and there's something to appreciate in all of them.

what the hell is so good about Paramore?? they are very medicore. The best vocalist and rock female fronted band is by far Garbage with shirley manson :D Shirley Manson is the queen, followed closely by Gwen Stefani.

@No1shakirafan its been my experience that every single person whos called paramore "mediocre" has never even heard one of their albums. if the only songs i heard by paramore were crushx3, thats what u get, & decode i'd think they were pretty mediocre 2. its not paramore's fault the label releases their most "pop" songs as singles. if youve listened 2 riot from beginning 2 end & u still feel that way, then i guess thats just ur opinion, but if not maybe u should give them a chance b4 u criticize

@eraser175 @eraser175 umm....sorta...emo, in terms of music, is categorized by lyrics. very emotional, personal, deep and expressive lyrics. a lot of bands will write at least one emo song in their career nowadays, but some bands write albums of "emo" or emotional songs. bands like sunny day real estate, the cure, depeche mode, and dashboard confessional just to name a few. i think people get confused when they pair emo music w/ emo style and culture.

@eraser175 yeah its logical, a lot of people do it, but it isnt always correct. for example, just because someone has an "emo haircut" it doesnt mean they are "emo" or that they even listen to emo music. sometimes people automatically associate emo style w/ emo music, and even though they do go together most of the time, sometimes they dont. oh and although i happen to like the big booty bitches song, wut u said about rap music is kinda true. the only exception is this duo called chiddy bang.

I would pick: The Dead Weather, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts; (going back some years) Fleetwood Mac, and Dead Can Dance; and (going back many years) The Supremes, and The Mamas and the Papas. Also agree that Chrissy Hynde and The Pretenders should be on there; and Heart. There are also a lot of great female solo artists, like Janis Joplin and Patti Smith.

paramore can't be no.1, what is so good about good them? haley sounds like any other chick that can sing and they're ok but i wouldn't say they're the best.. maybe because its the only band people over rate and you hear so much about, but i can think of better ones..

well to me female fronted simply means that there is a female fronting the band where some of the bands you've shown are not all female fronted, i was simply stating my opinion. meg and dia arent even a female fronted band.

Well the last time i heard of Meg And Dia they were a two piece band and what i'd call an 'all-girl band', but it's been a while since i listened to them.. so i only assumed by the name itself they still were, however i just found out they they added an additional 3 band members. I could get technical about it but like i said, imo i wouldn't class them as all female fronted.

Sorry if i didn't make my point clear the first time so hopefully this'll break it down for you. But logically this is what i think best describes a female fronted band (imo): 1 leading female singer, mostly males(band members) with an exception of 1 or females besides the lead singer, which also includes backing vocals. If you think about it though, most bands consist of males with a lead male singer/vocalist, BUT when there's a female, she's 'leading' the band, making it a female fronted band.
