Few can truly understand the awesomeness of being a kid in the 90's. Before the harsh reality of life hit you before you grew up and saw the world for what it truly is. Ow how I love you my PS1
The greatest video game music ever made and ever to be made, as are the games RE 1,2,3. They are games I am determined to keep and play until a old man. It sounds corny but that's how much I enjoy playing these games, They strike such a nostalgic mood in me, good thoughts but also hurts the heart a little thinking about how chill things were back then, but how sweet are these games that they can still be played and enjoyed so much...it's a shame they will never make a classic RE game again....
The only one RE i have played was RE3, and it was a masterpiece game, with creepy streets and terrifying zombies, that was a great luck to find another save room when you are out of ammo and bitten by monsters. Yeah, these were the days)
@ih82w888 I was in the same position as you until I downloaded and played RE2 in late 2010 , then I really got into the series and downloaded all old school RE games (remake , zero , CVX , outbreak 1 and 2) and I wasn't disappointed at all , I recommend you play RE2 , its really awesome ;)
the one from code veronica is my favorite. its very soothing to hear after doing really intense things and fighting scary shit. my second favorite is probably the on from re 3 nemesis, just because ive played it a billion times.

People generally have no idea how much music plays into the success of a movie or video game. Just hearing these tracks brings back a flood of memories from first playing these games 10+years ago.
In particular, the soundtrack to RE2 was a masterworkd.
I won't ever leave this room, it's so cozy and safe. I won't ever leave, for it's dangerous outside. I fear what awaits outside this door and so I think I shall stay. This room is a womb, nurturing and warm. It lures me to sleep where I dream of better days.
Although I never could relate to RE games, I really am touched by the the ensemble of songs. Something about them makes me want to dance within a delirium at the same time remorse that I am in one. I feel so alone and yet somewhat satisfied.
Even now, hearing these tunes: Whoa, the relief! :D Thumbs up for old school games, who could make you FEEL such a complex mix of emotions - these days its all numbness and eye candy. Or maybe this girl just got old! :P Thanks for this AngelCaged!

@AngelCaged Well i don't like accusing someone of selling out, but a problem with some Japanese developers is the "well they love shooters in the west so we'll do that" mentality. We have enough shooters already, so why they had to throw away most of their fanbase to appeal to the masses is beyond me.
@AngelCaged I agree also.. 4 wasnt the same for me... it was good but it wasnt really resident evil. 5 went even further away and Wesker dying... i dunno. I miss the old games i guess cuz i grew up with them.
@reservoirdog666 Even though RE has slipped downhill. I think we can all agree that RE4 was a really good game. I still pray for a day in wich we can play 1, 2 and 3 with the controls of 4. No kicking though that was such a cheapshot that could easily get you out of sticky situations.
@Fritsie93 I adore RE4, and thought it was the most tense game I've ever played.. Not scary per se, although it could be (Verdugo? The Regenerators?). I even liked RE5, despite several big issues. But RE5 is a flat out action game, theres no doubt about that. But I consider RE4 a mix of horror and action, and a damn successful one at that :)... I think Capcom could- no, should always innovate the series, but they must remember its a horror series, not a Gears clone, which RE5 often felt like

En una gran mansion, cubierta de total obscuridad, y en unas pocas partes, la luz de luna entra por la ventana o por un pequeño ducto. Sabiendo que esta mansion esta infestada por zombies y otras cosas fuera de tu imaginación. I'm also a musician/composer and I listen to Resident evil and Silent Hill soundtracks all the time, they inspire me a lot and no words can describe how atmospheric these tracks are, you just need to listen to all of them. These songs are pretty simple, but in some cases simplicity is genial...
These soundtracks are probably the most overlooked pieces of art and instrumental accomplishments ever. You can not comprehend the genius design behind these works of art. From the emotion that they invoke to the fitting sense of loneness, yet you're not alone. You want to be alone when you're in the save rooms! A sense of safe haven but in reality it's just a false sense, sooner or later you're forced to open the door and continue on with your journey. Lonesome journey, at the same time it isnt
What is so damn scary about this is you hear this relatively calming music knowing as soon as you leave that room you're going to hear that cringe worthy scary music again
@Xcyper33 Well it gives a sense of safety, for the moment. But it has the undertones of creepiness. Maybe you just can't hear them or interpret them correctly.
The best thing about these songs, is that you can do more to translate them, then simply what they make you feel.
RE1: Where am I? What is going on...am I going to live? All that matters right now, is that I can take a second to think.
RE2: What happened to all these people...I need to find Claire (Or Leon), I need to get out of this city..though for now I'll just rest as long as this city lets me.
RE3: I'm back in this nightmare...Though I'll rest even less this time..I'll never give up.
@leftspeaker2000 Haha I agree, I for sure only played it through once, and never touched it again. All the charm was gone and what was left was an over the shoulder action rump through make believe horror. It's hard to get freaked out even the slightest, when your guy can suplex people.
Upon hearing this song in any of the games you knew you were safe for a brief moment... until you had to go back outside that door and continue through the nightmare, This game made a massive impact on my life..... - From all us fans, Thank you Capcom

Amazing, such an awesome use of atmospheric music its frightening. Details like this are what set these games so far apart from other series.
I would like to personally thank and handshake every single person who helped make these games reality, even though the original has given me re occurring zombie nightmares since childhood. =-)
@BillieCoss Unfortunately RE 1.5 was never released...it was sort of RE2 prototype, I think. But yeah I'd like to play 1.5 if only Capcom would release it :)
Don't want Revelations on the 3DS because the screen is too small? Your loss for being picky and/or a graphics whore. And for the record it's 3.5"... and 3D.
@koenbp With updated shaders a higher poly count wouldn't really be noticeable. I agree animation could be improved, but still, come on. How about remaking RE2?
They will do a game like RE1 again... Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS is "pure horror". It also appears to have zombies.

Resident Evil died with Raccoon City. Resident Evil 0, 1, 1 remade on Gamecube, 2, and 3 are the only titles I enjoyed. All are great games and truly immerse you in survival horror.
@koenbp Doesn't matter how old it is. RE on PS1 to REmake was a huge leap. REmake with 1080p, higher res textures/backgrounds, and new lighting effects wouldn't be nearly as drastic. The game still looks good on an SDTV anyway. Why the heck should they be wasting their time making a game that already has a remake and a thousand re-releases look marginally better when they could be working on RE: Revelations?
You're all right about what you were saying about the series and the direction it was going without RE4 and RE5. But I think it's time they change it again, and thankfully they are with the reboot. It's like they copied and pasted the layout thinking it was godly or something. Games like COD, MGS, Rainbowsix, etc. They have layouts that can be reused since they're actually super fun.
Ah well, I hope RE6 offers something new and brings back the horror.

they should make a Resident Evil 1, 2 & 3 remake for Xbox360 and PS3. But no, they are working on RE6, an action game with no zombies and its not worth to call it RE anymore. Resident Evil series died after Code Veronica X :'(

They changed RE in the first place because it was becoming Stale. Everything was the fucking same. And for the better too. I love the originals but I love 4 and 5 as well.

@HyPnOTiZeR89 It is a damned shame what Resident Evil has turned into. Instead of Survival HORROR it is just survival action. It pisses me off. I would go for the remakes though. I remember when I was about 8 or 9 when I got my first RE game, the first zombie encounter, the memory necessary to survive, it was so awesome.
@HyPnOTiZeR89 Fucking creepy Zombie man. Plus, I had no idea what Resident Evil was about either, making it much more mysterious and frightening. I walked into the first Zombie room hearing a strange crunching noise, found the zombie, saw the cutscene and thought, "is this bald homeless man trying to give surgery to my teammate?" Then he started walking towards me and I backed away but he caught me and tried giving me "Surgery" aswell. Then I shot him in his fucking head and left the room.

Its just a shame the series has deviated so much from this masterful formula and turned into just another action series.
At least we'll have the memories though :) and these amazing soundtracks which you've kindly uploaded, and reminded me i must buy/download lol.

Amazing, such an awesome use of atmospheric music its frightening. Details like this are what set these games so far apart from other series.
I would like to personally thank and handshake every single person who helped make these games reality, even though the original has given me re occurring zombie nightmares since childhood. =-)

@BillieCoss Unfortunately RE 1.5 was never released...it was sort of RE2 prototype, I think. But yeah I'd like to play 1.5 if only Capcom would release it :)

@koenbp With updated shaders a higher poly count wouldn't really be noticeable. I agree animation could be improved, but still, come on. How about remaking RE2?
They will do a game like RE1 again... Resident Evil Revelations on the 3DS is "pure horror". It also appears to have zombies.

Resident Evil died with Raccoon City. Resident Evil 0, 1, 1 remade on Gamecube, 2, and 3 are the only titles I enjoyed. All are great games and truly immerse you in survival horror.

@koenbp Doesn't matter how old it is. RE on PS1 to REmake was a huge leap. REmake with 1080p, higher res textures/backgrounds, and new lighting effects wouldn't be nearly as drastic. The game still looks good on an SDTV anyway. Why the heck should they be wasting their time making a game that already has a remake and a thousand re-releases look marginally better when they could be working on RE: Revelations?

You're all right about what you were saying about the series and the direction it was going without RE4 and RE5. But I think it's time they change it again, and thankfully they are with the reboot. It's like they copied and pasted the layout thinking it was godly or something. Games like COD, MGS, Rainbowsix, etc. They have layouts that can be reused since they're actually super fun.
Ah well, I hope RE6 offers something new and brings back the horror.

they should make a Resident Evil 1, 2 & 3 remake for Xbox360 and PS3. But no, they are working on RE6, an action game with no zombies and its not worth to call it RE anymore. Resident Evil series died after Code Veronica X :'(

They changed RE in the first place because it was becoming Stale. Everything was the fucking same. And for the better too. I love the originals but I love 4 and 5 as well.

@HyPnOTiZeR89 It is a damned shame what Resident Evil has turned into. Instead of Survival HORROR it is just survival action. It pisses me off. I would go for the remakes though. I remember when I was about 8 or 9 when I got my first RE game, the first zombie encounter, the memory necessary to survive, it was so awesome.

@HyPnOTiZeR89 Fucking creepy Zombie man. Plus, I had no idea what Resident Evil was about either, making it much more mysterious and frightening. I walked into the first Zombie room hearing a strange crunching noise, found the zombie, saw the cutscene and thought, "is this bald homeless man trying to give surgery to my teammate?" Then he started walking towards me and I backed away but he caught me and tried giving me "Surgery" aswell. Then I shot him in his fucking head and left the room.
