Have you done any testings before posting this video? do you know that by using this configuration you only disabling the airbag light. The canbus under the seat has AC/DC 4V that is shifting in the occupancy mat all the time and if you check with the scanner you will see that occupancy mat is still faulty... which is not what it supposed to be. (i'm electronics engineer) . You need the right load and phase shift to fool the computer.
@MyDegis That's incorrect, If you read back on the comments you'll see I described how it operates when installed.
The resistance at this resistor is equal to that of a perfectly functional seat that is being sat in. That means that in the event of an accident, regardless of whether there's a passenger in the seat, the passenger airbags (dash and door) will fire if the accident is severe enough.
@MyDegis The system runs a check for errors every time you start the car and if there is a problem found, the ECU will instruct the ACM to disable, preventing the bags from firing. With this resistor in place, the ACM never gets the signal that there is a fault with the mat, instead it gets the signal that the seat is occupied and functional. You can scan the car with anything from Carsoft, GT1, INPA etc and you will clearly see there is no fault reported.
i dont want to use my OLD occupancy sensor connector from the mat..instead use NEW connector and my own regular blue and white wire will bypass work ?
I have a 2006 BMW 330I with the same issue as "evethang." My seat has three wires instead of two going to the module. Any idea how to make a bypass for a seat with three wires?
i was wondering if you know how to make the one for the 3 wire seat with no black box. I have a 2006 E53 and it has three wires and not black box. Please help.
I have the same intermittent problem with a new 2012 Volvo S60. Do you know if your fix would work? This is an untouched video showing a defective airbag "safety " feature on our new Volvo 2012 S60. My wife is obviously seated, with her seatbelt fastened, but the Volvo's sensor is saying that the Passenger Seat Airbag is OFF.
We bought the Volvo for maximum SAFETY, but we noticed that we are driving around with the airbag intermittently turned off for my wife! This is terrible, and you
Hi, this make error dissapear but systems tells that nobody is sitting on the passenger seat. Dangerous! Car E39 528i -97 INPA soft, livedata from airbag unit.
@lukewowk That depends on whether the light was on permanently or not. if it was an intermittent fault then no, you dont need the reset tool. If it was on constantly then you will need to reset the light.
I have to answer to myself here :) I did the bypass I connect the cable I start the car and the airbag still was on but I after that I did reset tool and now is over 10 days and the airbag light didnt came back, happy for it, and thanks for this video :)
@congur Glad it was useful to you mate. :) I see you are in Sweden, Does your E60 have a 3 wire occupancy sensor like the UK & Ireland ones? or a 2 wire regular one?
@tiganhonda Thank you again :) And yes it's 2 wire regular on mine, since my E60 was imported from Germany 2006 but I can think and be sure that is the same too in Sweden. Cheers
works like a charm! :) since the mat in the seat was broken anyway,i took about 3-4 cm of wire and the connector from it,and then connected the bypass to it. when that done, connected it to the module. no fear of sparks. :)
@ybewiz It will indeed, Ive done it on one myself. :) Just make sure that you are having the occ sensor problem instead of some other restraint system fault before doing it. :)
Hey thanks for the video can you please post a video or explanation on how to install the sensor? does it go into the back of the cut sensor plug? or the back of the sensor computer? thanks great vid
@nastastic Hiya mate, I know its been a while since this was posted, but i have a video up showing where the sensor goes with instructions etc. have a look in my channel, its fitted to an E46 but the same applies to any.
@tiganhonda I am trying to do this to my E60, however, I can't seem to identify which is the plug (with the two wires) do you have picture to help? Or I can take pictures and you can point out to me which is which.
Why do you use a diode? Do resistors only work in one direction? I need to create one of these for a 2001 Hyundai Sonata, the tipping point for the system turn on the airbag is 50K Ohms(less than indicates occupant in passenger seat, according to a Hyundai Service Bulletin that I downloaded.

yep, you only need the one and its on the passenger seat. You unplug the blue and white wires from the control unit and fit this to them. You don't reconnect back to the control unit. Hope that helps. :)

japemw 3 months ago
@japemw Then you have either a problem with wrong resistors or maybe cheap/damaged resistors.
If you make it like i showed then it will ALWAYS show the seat as occupied. :)

What tool is used to check and reset airbag light on 2006 BMW 530xi. I`ve heard that the Peak SRS tool is only good up to 2004, correct ?
lukewowk 3 months ago
@lukewowk I use INPA which is a BMW software and you can buy the cable and software off ebay for 20 quid.

do I need the reset tool to turn off the light after installing the bypass? or will installing actually turn off light?

- 100 ohm resistors (2) 1/4 watt 5% tolerance - 1N4001 diode (1). Is what I used, all from Radio Shack

100 ohm. 1/2 watt? 1/4 watt? 1/8 watt?

Sorry asking, but can you do it with a fiat stilo 5dr from 2002?
I think that a few tousands of people would be much apriciated.

Audigy2records 11 months ago
hi, i dont have access to it at the moment, look under your passenger seat. theres a plug with 2 wires in it. blue and white.
Unplug that, you wont be plugging it back in. Chop off the plug and replace it with what you made from the video. thats it.
You dont "have to chop off the plug, you can just splice into it behind the actual plug and wire it that way.
