Does anybody have some advice for a Christian animal wellfare activist

who is ridiculed just for thinking we need to treat God's creatures better?

I can't even eat at my own church because it would insult them

if I asked if they could grill me a burger with the organic beef I buy but

then I get made a fool of for eating a veggie burger.

I know that Jesus came to save human not animals but I still think

that he is sensitive to their suffering and pain also.

Any advice? I'm not with PETA!

On the other hand, meat-eaters are not sinning when they eat fish, pork, beef or chicken. The Bible has many passages that show hunting animals for food and serving meat at feasts.

Men just have to be good stewards of God's creation and make sure that they don't over kill animals to the point of extinction. Also know that not eating animals will mess up the balance of the eco-system. My advice will be...don't even argue with other Christians about not eating meat. You're obviously going to be outnumbered and you're going to loose. Not all Christians are very understand of other people.

To me being a Christian means that I want to protect the enviornment and not hurt animals. I am not yet to the point where I don't eat meat but I would love to me at that point. I'm a biologist who worked in the field and in a big cat sanctuary when I was attending a church.

When people would ask me why I devoted a degree to animals that could be used benefit people I would tell them that while my work had me interacting with animals, I was doing it for the betterment of mankind by caring for our CLIENT'S much loved pets.

Perhaps explain how many PEOPLE eliminating certain farming practices could feed, then ask them to grill your veggie burger?

@GodzzzSon, it's not eating animals I am against, it's the systematic animal cruelty that takes place in modern agriculture. I'm treated badly for saying things like we need to come up with a new slaughtermethod. The fact that a lot of animals have their throats cut while they are still conscious is disturbing to me. I can't eat an animal that I know was raised in horrific conditions, and was treated like an object. They feel pain too.

I'm also trying to help instill new methods of testing medicines that don't involve animals. God put animals here, so I assume He wants us to care about them.

As you said they are God's creatures. If you do eat meat, I would suggest a Kosher butcher. Their methods of slaughter are the most humane. Hope that helps.

Most cows are still fully conscious when their throats are cut open, there are no laws protecting chickens, and don't even get me started on veal. If God doesn't care about how animals are treated, then why did He rebuke Balaam for beating his donkey? In Jonah, God mentions the cattle in Ninevah that he didn't want to kill along with the people. If I don't want to eat meat, what is it to you? I am tired of being treated like a pagan just because I think that we should treat animals better!

@rbmath, I agree on that, the only reason why we grow so much corn is because it is sold for less than the cost of production and therefore for the farners to make any money off of it, the government has to subsidize them. In fact, I think we ought to only send emergency relief food to starving countries and once they are no longer starving, help them build their own economies. I would hate to undermine the fact that they can grow food for themselves.

In Jesus day, your animals were your livelyhood, but these days a lot of times they are treated as comodities and I simply can't participate. This verse pretty much states who is man to assume that animals pass out of existence when they die. When I look into the eyes of an animal, I see all that is missing from the human soul, animals know who their maker is, they can't sin becuase they are ignorant of what is right and wrong like Adam and Eve were. And the Bibile mentions animals in heaven.

@cathavenfostermom1 vegetarianism is a person preference but God did kill two animals to clothe Adam and Eve. It's not a sin to eat meat. When an animal dies (mammals without an eternal soul) their soul goes back to God. I think it's foolish of them to make fun of your vegetarianism but at the same time don't try to convert them to it. Eating meat is better for you, you get more complete proteins that way your body needs. I would only encourage them to buy organic, the more humane way

You should take heart that they're doing the wrong thing from Romans 14:1-4. take a look: Christians are not meant to judge you for what you eat at all (by the way, I don't think your faith is 'weak' in the way the passage says, because you don't think God is telling you not to eat meat for ritualistic purposes). It wasn't until after the Floor in Genesis that God allowed Moses and his family to begin to eat animals because the world was already sinless (the reason may be wrong on that part). As far as I understand, Jesus came to fulfil the law and not abolish the laws and to clean up the Jewish religion, not start new religions. The Quran and the bible speak the truth. The most important reason that Jesus has to be God is that if He is not God, His death would not have been sufficient to pay the penalty for the sins of the world (1 John 2:2). A created being, which Jesus would be if He were not God, could not pay the infinite penalty required for sin against an infinite God. Only God could pay such an infinite penalty. Only God could take on the sins of the world (2 Corinthians 5:21), die, and be resurrected, proving His victory over sin and death.

Jesus repeatedly claimed to be God in many instances although he did't state it bluntly he made use of terms like "I and the Father are one" John 10:30 which infuriated pharisees and the jews alike and thus accusing Jesus of blasphemy. In the instances Jesus would claim to be God he would be in danger of being stoned to death.

No, these are extreme views... Either God or a liar... But our references are different; and in my reference, Jesus, along with the rest of the prophets are messengers of God; and Jesus Christ is the ONE whose spirit was blown by God into the uterus of Holy-Mary... Jesus's message is that "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No man cometh to the Father but by me".

He also said "I and the Father are One".

You can't have it both ways, if you believe His message, His message is that He is the Son of God and that salvation is only by grace through faith in His sacrifice.

So if you believe in His message, that is His message.

Jesus and the Father are One, and that salvation is through Him alone.

Christianity is a world view for me. Everything was made by Him (Jesus) and for Him and in Him all things holds together. For me life would not make sense without Jesus.

This film was finished in 1979, I wasn't even born yet that I couldn't complain about its filmmaking; It looks good to me IMHO. Anyway, this film was intended for one thing: to reach people for Christ so that they would get to know Him and begin a personal relationship with Him. It has been translated to hundreds of languages and dialects and so many people are coming to Christ through the film around the world.
