  • Please speed up, this is way way way too slow.... No melodic line, and the rythmic values are diminshed. At least 120bpm in strict 3/4.... Need that waltz feeling....

  • @RichHaezaert Yes, you are right, listen back this video of mine 2 years ago, I really sucked. thanks for letting me know :)

  • try to add more feeling to it and try and work out the best places to breathe, you can find some good breathing exersizes in Book 5 of the Trevor Wye practise books for flute. other than that well done

  • @Natenoooo16 yes, you're right, thanks :)

  • phrasing ;(

  • I played this piece for grade 7 with Trinity Guildhall, didn't like it though

  • Oh i see, it was for my ABRSM grade 8 :)

I also took Trinity Guildhall ATCL last November, got 85 marks :)

  • @pyrioni Well done :D You're a much better player than I am (and probably ever will be hahahaha)

  • @floatingtigers lol, thanks. :) practice practice and practice is the key...

  • You have brilliant tone but i think you need to work on breathing your cutting notes off and stopping phrases halfway as well. Im playing this for grade 8 ABRSM as well :D

  • I know, your right, that was more than an year ago, I improved a bit now :) but still a little short on breath, thanks for your advice.

  • are you doing Poulenc too? seen my poulenc?

  • yes i did it was brilliant

  • sorry another grade 8 flautist playing this one .. well done

  • thanks :)

  • no offence, but I find it really unfair that I am doing this piece of grade 7 for trinity rather than grade 8 for ABRSM.

    oh well. : (

  • that's strange, Trinity should be a bit easier than ABRSM :(

yeah, not fair, this piece isn't easy for grade 7.

  • You have a very beautiful sound.

I also played this piece for my 8th grade, but i took it twice the speed you did. :D.

I think this piece sounds good in any speed. :)

  • wow, twice the speed, cool. :) thanks.

  • i also will play this peice for my grade 8 flute in this year, but i very lazy , maybe i think very diffcultly. u play very good!

  • i also played this peice for my grade 8 flute, and it was interesting to see the way you approached this peice as you took it at about twice the speed i did, and suprisingly it sounds good, i may try this XD

  • after all, this is a section C etude piece, you can't be too slow, you got to show your technique and speed. :) but you can slow it down a little, not too much.

  • well i sped up quite a bit at about bar 32, but the first bit was alot slower although i did play from bar 96 onwards a bit faster than you XD

i just got the impression from the peice it was kind of a dreamy spooky peice, so i tried to express that, and i think yours sounded more dancey

but they both sound good, its interesting to think how two different people can interprit the same peice so differently

  • lol, yeah, very interesting to know how you did that way, hope to hear it sometime, please post when you are done, would be quite interesting. ^_^

  • ah posting involves technology :S

what other peices did you play for your gr 8?

  • Dang!!! I wish I could play as amazing as you do!! I've been playing for 5 years and Im not half as good as you! This is soooo amazing! Congrats!

  • WOOW. I wish I could play flute half as good as that! You get all the high notes so perfectly! How long have you been playing? How long do you practice?

  • Hey, you are very very very good in Piano, Organ and Guitar! LOL...me played nearly 6 yrs now, I practice 2 hours and half a day now... before was only 1 hour a day

  • this is really nice, good job!

  • thanks. :)

  • i have done this piece too....good stuff :)

  • wow i wanna become a awesome flute player like you one of these days WOW that's all i can say haha.

  • You played very well, I can't play clear on bar 43-47, can you give me any advice?

  • great!

  • I think this is great!I am currently practicing this piece as well.

My advise is that you play a little bit slower, and put more dynamics, and play expressivly and smoothly when it says "espressivo" and sweetly where it says "dolce".although there are accented notes on the triplets, they are tracing the melody, so it might be better if they were played more smoothly.

However, your high notes are beautiful, and you might have your own interpretations for this piece so it is wonderful :)

  • thanks for your kind comment and advice, they are very useful for me. ^^

  • I just recently got grade 8 distinction for ABRSM Flute Exam, and for this piece I got 27 marks out of 30. Here is the exminer's comment:

"The phrases were shaped with care and a nice sense of momentum maintained. Rubato was sensitively used. In the faster moving passages clarity was an issue and high points of phrases needed more careful placement, but in general this was an assured performance with shape."

  • wow!!

    Good job^^

  • you awsome

    how ols are you

  • ty 14

  • wow, that's really good!!!

    5 stars!!

    :) noellia

  • thx! :)

  • I liked it, great job! The only advice is plan where to take your breaths and maybe fix the phrasing of the runs a little more. Other than that nice work!

  • thanks, great advice!

  • An unacc. Etude - how nice to hear on YT! I've written a really easy one - would you be interested in receiving a score via PDF some time? (It's not that easy - depends on how you interpret it !!) You could play it v well though!

Nice job on this movt. You are going to get somewhere in the flute world because you practise and you are dedicated. Not to mention the fact that you own a videocamera - always a plus if you want to be a YT-er ! Best wishes, Jonathan

  • This is loverly

    i love E.Kohler pieces

i played one in my last exam x

  • Well done! Are you planning to do further exams? Will you attend a music college? What are your aims?

    Best wishes,

    Andrew

  • This is really beautiful!

  • thanks. :)

  • You are making wonderful music!

  • Really good work. I look forward to hear more of your fine playing. You are very talented.
