Looks great, I would really like to make a trip like that. I've been kayaking before, but nothing more than spending a day a few km's off shore in an open top, but I'd like to do more. I COULD just buy a decent enclosed sea kayak with some supplies and try paddling to the other end of the island, but something tells me that isn't the best idea... Any advice on where to start/what gear to get?

Thanks, your right, it is more fun without a guide and to paddle manapouri,,,,,,,,,,,,hence no guide and a great paddle accross manapouri, no 10 day guided trips down there mate

It's even more carbon neutral to Kayak Lake Manapouri, It's More Fun to explore without a guide and a group in tow.
