@IllicitTU Well you lost! My mother is a public school teacher and we were both more than happy to defy Gov. Kasich and the tea party tonight 8) See you teabaggers in 2012! Liberals and unions are organized and ready to wear you down.
The number of firefighters is not the sole issue, it's their ability to collectively negotiate. Even with fewer firefighters, the remaining firefighters can voluntarily go above and beyond the other firefighters that will give each of them the opportunity for larger raises.
Vote yes for a better Ohio. Vote yes to getting our responsibilities as citizens back. Vote yes to protect good teachers and get rid of the bad ones! Vote yes because seniority is unfair! Vote yes because as tax payers we need the right to choose what our taxes go towards! Vote yes because Unions are evil! Unions force employers to pay a fee to work for them and they are passing a law where they can FORCE businesses into a union.
Issue 2 is primarily about a reduction in the take-home pay for public employees - Civil Servants. These ads about response times, worker safety, etc. are conjectural smoke in mirrors. If you think the state unions have gone too far, vote yes on 2. If you think the strength of the unions should be ratified, vote no.
something the supporters of this "vote no on issue 2" campaign don't want you to know: the number one thing this bill does is stop the direct withdraw of union dues from paychecks of union members. it forces unions to bill their members. when members see what they pay per year in dues for the unions they might not be so willing to contribute. this is why millions of dollars have been spent by the unions to stop issue 2. don't fall for tricks from thugs. vote yes on 2. enough is enough.
Where I live, the value provided by fire protection is that when your house burns, it doesn't burn adjacent homes. 100% of home fires here result in 100% property loss. Loss of life is due to no smoke detectors which is a personal choice that government cannot protect us from.
My defined pension plan was eliminated after 29 years of service. I have NO sympathy We're talking about reality. Join the rest of us..those of you in the political class.
@ChampaignLibertarian Wahhh waahhh your like that kid that cries and breaks everyone's toys. Just because you can't have fun doesnt mean the rest of us cant. And just because your job and pension plan suck doesn't mean the rest of us have to suffer. There have been many loss of life fires in places w. working smoke detectors. You ever see the station night club fire? You must live in some back woods place if you have 100% loss, which would be unacceptable in a city
The pay scales, benefits and pension packages of public employees are excessive and unsustainable - way beyond the what most people have in the private sector.
“Issue 2 makes it illegal to negotiate for enough firefighters to do their job.”
Nothing in Issue 2 prohibits safety unions from discussing staffing levels. Issue 2 simply allows decisions about staffing to be made by the fire chiefs and police commanders responsible for managing their respective departments. These experts should be given the authority to make certain operational decisions without the unnecessary and often financially unsustainable demands of a union contract.
Unions are more corrupt, more damaging to this nation, than any other group in the US. They escape anti-trust laws that would apply to others, and put their own people in government in order to get giant returns from the tax payers. It is theft and damages the private sector. You will never find a successful country that puts public sector first while driving out the private sector. Public sector does not generate income, it takes it. Private generates. Unions have to be regulated.
If you vote no on issue 2, liberal democrats will increase your taxes, unions will beat up more people, and downsize police, and fire so they can unleash gang bangers onto the streets to rape women, kill cops, and cause riots because after all liberal democrats love violent niggers, and hate the cops who arrest them since they use to cause riots back in the 60's!
anyone actually read all 300+ pages of the legislation??? i doubt it. Sad that people vote their future based upon a commercial. Whether your for or against it. Most have no clue what their REALLY voting on.
@Mounirlynch No, just happen to have a different opinion about this than other people. Don't insult me just because I like this bill. I don't insult YOU or anyone else for NOT liking this bill.
@MrTHEPOPTARTS whoa whoa whoa do you know what its like to be a teacher, firefighter, policeman, or a nurse? The teachers help us be successful. Firefighters safe us when we need help the most. Policeman keeps us safe. Nurses save us with whatever sickness we have.
@bellagoodman9 What happens when you vote it down, you get public unions. (even FDR knew it wouldn't work.) they negotiate for more workers benefits against nobody, which means they get it. how do you think that we are going to get all that money? that will mean that because we are spending money thats not there, we will have to FIRE a lot of public employees, or go bankrupt!
God, I wish this old lady would just die...hopefully before she votes...Vote YES on Issue 2 !!! All you fear mongers are low life scum...Maybe if some of you scum would pay some taxes we wouldn't be having these problems but all of you just expect the rich people to support all of your lazy asses...But as long as the "Mob Rule" system that is Democracy is in place it will give you thieving, greedy scumbags a hand in every successful persons wallet...Issue 2 will pass and hopefully you will die.
Timmons> you must be one of the yuppies. how about if someone took advantage of you? Would you like that? Just hope you don't have a fire or a need to go to the er, no one will help a hater like you
@sweetliz20041 --- You are an idiot....There will be no shortage of firefighters or nurses any more than there is already because people like you don't pay hardly any taxes....Get a life and try supporting yourself for once. Where are you when they are laying off police and firefighter because you people don't pay any taxes, hell, half of you don't pay any taxes and then get money back from the government. But some how it's the evil rich peoples fault, it's amazing how stupid you all are...
@Jager - Have you or will you ever pay $200,000 in taxes?Nope. And that is just to send your kids to school. Fact is 66% of Americans are getting a free ride or a great deal of of the evil rich people and businesses and all you can do is complain that you want more. You're damn lucky you live in a Democracy where what is right doesn't matter, what matters is who can get the most votes. You live off the rich people and pay your token amount in taxes and claim you deserve a voice when you don't....
@tyedyesky420 200K per year or total? I am not complaining that I want more. You are making some fascinating statements about "me". Can you explain where that is coming from? What rich people am I living off of, exactly, and how does this bill help alleviate whatever it is you are talking about?
@JagerMikesterX - Everyone pays taxes, even little children do when they buy a piece of candy. The problem is you don't pay your fair share as your hero Obama likes to say. Let's take a look at how good you have it but still you want more - How many children do you have? For the sake of argument we will assume two. Do you have any idea how much it costs to send you kids to school? $8000 a year per kid. So for you two kids it has cost the gov 1/4 of a million dollars to send your kids to school.
@JagerMikesterX --- But that's fine don't support the bill, it will pass anyhow because there are people out there with some integrity that are looking out for the entire state and not just themselves which is what this bill is really about...It's about balancing the budget and making public employees pay their fair share and ending their free ride on people that pay a positive amount in taxes, by positive I mean people like me that pay more into the system than they use...
@tyedyesky420 Again, please explain to me how this bill solves the financial issues, and how. I have been searching for an answer to this question. No one answers it. The web site doesn't answer it. You haven't answered it. I would like to know HOW it will save money, and HOW MUCH it will save.
@JagerMikesterX --- The explanation is simple...Making public employees pay 15% into their pension and healthcare saves the state that money...pretty simple huh? And getting rid of collective bargaining accomplishes the same as all CB does is give mediocre people strength in numbers, just like what Democracy does. That is why public employees make 40% more than their private sector counterparts, because you can hurt the state by going on strike, regardless if you are in the right or not...
@tyedyesky420 90% of the employees already pay 15%, and the majority of the rest have stated they are willing to without a bill. I'm fairly certain that is accurate. So the savings there is non-existent. As for the collective bargaining, how is getting rid of that going to save the state money? Where is the savings?
@JagerMikesterX - "90% of the employees already pay 15%" --I doubt this is accurate but I will look into it further but in regards to how will eliminating collective bargaining save money, it will because then public employee will not be able to blackmail the gov for higher pay just because they have strength in numbers...As I said public employee make 40% more than private sector and this is because these people are able to strike and put themselves before the people they are supposed to serve.
@tyedyesky420 I'd love to see supporting evidence on both. I don't understand what you mean by stating that public employees make 40% more than those in the private sector. Which people in the public sector as compared to which people in the private sector?
@JagerMikesterX --- So basically what I'm saying is that public employees are overpaid and without CB that will eventually correct itself when you can't just go on strike to get what you want putting childrens futures in perile over a couple of bucks and thereby save the state money eventually...
@tyedyesky420 I can't speak for all employees, but I know that even when I was teaching I felt that I was well compensated. What you are saying is that they are overpaid and this bill will cut the rug out from under them so that tax payers don't have to take the burden. Force them into a lower pay arena....because the government and school systems screwed up when negotiating contracts. While I'm not entirely opposed to that (from a selfish point of view) I find it interesting that our Governor..
@tyedyesky420 ...is able to come up with a proposal like this claiming that the public employees (EXCEPT FOR HIS) are selfish bastards and should be punished. WHO put us in this situation? It wasn't us....and it wasn't them. Why aren't we holding the government entities accountable for THEIR screw ups? Why doesn't that bother you?
Right there is the proof not to pass issue 2....1st video done buy hard working union PEOPLE who care about what the goverment is trying to pull.... 2nd video, re edited work of a union work force done by ONE person who knows how to chop up a union backed video. What do you think would happen if this thing gets passed??? Case closed. Thumbs up for " Vote NO on Issue 2".
Dissing a great-grandmother? Way to stay classy, folks. Apparently y'all don't care how the GOP is taking advantage of everyone but their corporate cronies. NO on 2!
@reblackwell43224 --- Only people that are dependant on the government think they are being taken advantage of...I don't expect a thing from the gov and support myself therfore this concerns me not a bit...but if you exp[ect the government to support you in every area of your life you a constantly scared that they will cut your program....He's a thought...provide for yourself and suddenly you no longer care what party is trying to do what...
@tyedyesky420: I work two jobs in both public and private sector to take care of a family of four. Unlike you, I know exactly who is taking advantage of whom. You might try using your time more wisely than insulting people you don't know with uninformed nonsense.
@reblackwell43224 -- Enlighten me to what you feel I am wrong about...and who do you feel is taking advantage of whom as your entire statement is vague. Also, I will do with my time as I wish because I have provided for myself and live within my means and do not have to worry about such nonsense. Not being dependent on the government and union blackmail tactics allows me such luxury...
@tyedyesky420: The GOP in Ohio ran on a message of job creation. Instead of creating jobs, they've passed laws to stop abortion after detecting a heartbeat, allow concealed weapons in alcohol-serving establishments, and passed SB5, designed solely to bust labor unions in the name of providing "balance" in contract negotiations...all while delivering tax breaks to corporations while allowing them to cherry-pick the areas they operate in (such as Bob Evans). (continued)
@tyedyesky420 (part 2): They take advantage by laying blame for the state's economic woes on public employees and preach belt-tightening while buying themselves larger pairs of pants (SB5's exemptions for legislators, for example). As for Issue 2, they're not creative enough to run original ads, they have to twist an opponent's words to make it look like she's supporting the issue. Even Issue 2 supporters say that's weak.
@tyedyesky420: Furthermore, while the D.O.I. and the 1st amendment say you can spend your time as you wish, you're pretty much wasting it with typical right-wing crap. You're not the only one on here who supports himself/herself, and you're not the only one on here who pays their fair share of taxes, whatever you think that means. I'm not the least bit interested in any part of your paycheck, I'm fighting for everyone to make a decent check of their very own. Issue 2 is not about doing that.
@reblackwell43224 -- I reread your earlier comment and saw you think the GOP is taking advantage of you...That is the typical mindset of a Democrat that expects the government to steal from the rich and give it to them...The GOP think that folks like you should live in your own squallier if that is all you are capable of providing for yourself...The Democrats think that people that can't/won't provide for themselves are entitled to part of my paycheck...
@reblackwell43224 - I'm sorry you can't hack it in the real world so you and your ilk feel the need to rig the system in your favor but such is Democracy. Like I said people like you love Democracy and Collective Bargaining because you don't have to be right you just have to have the most votes(strength in numbers) and then you can take what I have worked for.The GOP fight for freedom.Every dollar of mine you vote to give to yourself is taking away my freedom.
@reblackwell43224 Too bad the democrats are funded heavily and side with corporate cronies as well. In fact look at most of Obama's white house appointees. Ever heard of anti-trust laws. Fact is crony capitalism is bad, and its present on BOTH SIDES. The Unions are also corrupt and should be limited by the success of the private sector. Do you propose a country that ends up like Greece? Unions have done nothing but harm this country and they have a history of violence and power grabbing.
@Shiftfallout: As opposed to a country whose labor laws most resemble China? Unions are the reason that workers have, by right, safe work places in which to ply one's trade and reasonable hours to earn one's wage. But for unions, child labor and sweat shop conditions would still be prevalent without compensation or recourse for the toll it took on one's well-being.
@awn263 Not me and not 1.3 million other people who signed the petition to repeal SB 5 that takes away the voice of police officers, fire fighters, nurses and teachers. I'm supporting the people who help other people. Vote NO on issue 2. It would cost the state of Ohio a POWERFUL PRICE to silence the voices of these people who's jobs are so important in keeping us safe and helping us get wel, and helping us learn. NONONO on issue 2!
@baritonebynight I hear you 100%! I was one of the petitioners, and gathered maybe 60 signatures. I'm proud to have been a small part of repealing this SB5 crap, so...
To all those who voted yes -- HA HA!

“Issue 2 makes it illegal to negotiate for enough firefighters to do their job.”
Nothing in Issue 2 prohibits safety unions from discussing staffing levels.

@reblackwell43224 What work places? Its all overseas. This is about public unions not private.

Not one of their better ads, but it doesn't change my vote!
Vote NO, on ISSUE 2!!!

Vote NO on Issue 2! ^_^
