Ok one day i went to my bank (North Shore Credit Union, Vancouver, BC), to cash a check, and the teller looked up my account and she said sharply, "HEY! Why don't you have a credit card yet?! You NEED to build up your credit!" and they wouldn't let me leave till I signed up for one. I would have walked out but they had my ID...
lol when i was a little kid a collector called and i picked up the phone (they thought it was my mom lol) and they're like "YOU GIVE US MONEY!!#$@#" and i was like "Fuck you, bitches," then i hung up. My mom was pissed lol
They wouldn't have a problem with credit cards if they minimized their use and paid thier bills on time. No one is forced to own, much less use a credit card. And if you get a contract with no interest for properly paid bills, all you have to do is pay the bills on time.
The consumers still have the control. They just need to use it and be responsible.
Normally I like Hansen's investigations, but not this one. He's trying to make the card companies look evil, but they can't do anything to someone who pays their bills on time. All the card owner has to do is properly pay their bills and just like that, all the power of the card company is gone.
It's the consumers responsibility to pay their bills.
Personally I almost never use credit cards. When I do, I make sure there is no interest when bills are paid on time and the paymets are made
She is right. The credit card companies hate people who pay the total balance in full within one month. I am one of them. they told me I paid to fast! Then they tried to increase my customer service fee and then thats when i dropped their rip off asses.
@creolelady182 They did that to me as well. For that reason I haven't used a credit card in almost two years. But I think part of this problem started when Congress passed that legislation to limit the powers of banks to charge certain fees (e.g. overdraft fees). So now banks can no longer make money by penalizing the irresponsible people who pay their bills late or not at all, and naturally they have to start screwing the ones like you and me who pay their bills in full and on time.
It's amazing how we think credit card companies are not loan sharks and fall into the trap of letting them talk us in to paying 29% on a $59 purse or high heels we don't need, but just have to have; it's just legal and accepted in this country.
That lady is right . if their was no credit we would all realize that there is no middle class anymore , just obscene rich and obscene poor . credit is just the illusion in the middle .
I don't think they will ever be regulated since it's what this country has been built on, capitalism. I don't think Obama will ever regulate/control the credit card companies. What do you think?
Yeah, but will the political powers that be ever do such a thing? There's profit to be made just like the lady said, so forgetaboutit, it's not goin' to happen, I mean that "political will" thing you're speaking about.
or, you could just not use a credit card. That works too.

I've always paid my bills on time and they have never tried to screw me for it. It's all about being responsible and using the right company.

@creolelady182 I'm surprised they havent imposed a maximum payment or made up some "customer disloyalty" penalty for avoiding paying interest."

The middle class never existed. We were all poor to begin with, except, of course, those who are wealthy.

These credit card companies need to be regulated and controlled or else we'll be financially tortured by these big and mean corporations

Have you ever heard of rent control. Regulating credit card companies is doable. All it takes is political will

DEBT has always existed! You take the risk in that you will pay it off and with the 'risk' improve your standard of living.
