Backup pianist sucks in this performance. Freddie didn't like playing the piano to this song live since it wasn't the central instrument. He also refused to play the synth live since he was ashamed that he was playing them in studio.
@mascaltzone7 Sorry to say but that is not the tshirt from the *Play The Game* video, that one has *Flash* written on it, this one has an arrow on it!! :)
Under pressure!! I love how John is the silent dancer/jammer. He never says a word but then he jams out when it comes to show time. And Freddie you needed to dump Billy Reid way back when he bit your hand!!
They toured heavily since April 1982 and to make matters worse, Freddie got into a fight (yelling) with his then lover Bill Reid, which left his voice in this condition. :(
I remember drinking beer, smokin dope, playing pool in San Carlos CA, watching this live my senior year in high school, still think SNL version of crazy little thing called love was the best performance of that song ever
@alanbmx321 deffo snl's best band performance...but by far NOT queen's best performance...this was at the end of a 6 month tour which queen had jst finished, freddie didnt wanna do this originally coz of his throat, and u can hear y, he didnt wanna do it
i remember watchin this when it originally aired, and i was blown away. i still think its the best live performance on SNL to this day (just my opinion). and im really not a big Queen fan either. thanks for uploading this vid
@vc421....I didn't think I was a Queen fan either, that is until I saw Queen Rock Montreal. Freddie totally blew me away!!! Never experienced anything like that ever. Now, I can't get enough of him & Queen! I can't get over how amazing they are!! Freddie was.....there aren't sufficient words to describe how magical he was....simply the best, ever!!!
And there's SO much more to Queen than their popular songs; gems that'll blow your mind. They're so awesome!

This must have been near the end of a tour, or after having already played in New York. Freddie's voice is hoarse. The band kicks ass tho.
The vid quality isn't so hot so its hard to see, but Freddie is wearing a Flash Gordon Tshirt here.

Deacon was getting down! Have to agree. This is the best SNL band performance.

Freddie's voice is heavily strained--yet still sounds great!
