I have 6 siberian huskies that are all approx. 1 year old. I would not say I am a professional dog owner as I never had dogs prior to these. However, in my experience one has to be strict the first 5 months and keep redoing training until the dogs understand what you ask of them. For me this approach has worked very well
I have a question for all you people who know dogs pretty well if I raise a husky and akita in the same yard will they manage to adapt with each other? or it will be like hell fighting each other all the time?
I have a question for all you people who know dogs pretty well if I raise a husky and akita in the same yard will they manage to adapt with each other? or it will be like hell fighting each other all the time?
My sister's ex boyfriend owns the prettiest (pure) white husky I have ever seen! It was so friendly and such a beautiful dog! His voice was prevalent yet captivating. :) I loved that dog so much<3
Huskies are GORGEOUS! But one of the worst dogs you can buy if you have no dog experience or live in a hot climate. For the love of god, please leave these dogs to professional dog owners & people who LOVE exercising with these animals. Pet stores have started doing surveys before selling these dogs since so many of them end up coming back home to the shop or breeder. They're GORGEOUS, yes. But SO hard to maintain. I tip my hat off to the people who own huskies & know how to take care of them :]
@0rchids303 I actually never found mine hard to maintain. He was an angel and just one of the most amazing dogs I've ever had. Of course I did a lot of research prior to getting him, but if you love exercise, enjoy the time bonding with your dog through training, and monitor his/her temprature, they make AMAZING dogs. His fur turned my house into a snow globe tho lolz
@Josecaal94 I had the same problem but not anymore what I do is play with Luna my husky before a walk to tire her then take her for a walk start as short leash give a little tug everytime she wants to pull you and say a command if she wants to fly off running tell her heal and don't move too. Hope it helps.
i live in southern california and have two Siberian huskies. They cry and scratch on the door to come inside when it drops below 40. Their ancestors would be ashamed
I want to get a huski but the important thing i wanted to know was are they agressvie and do they bite. If they are argesive, how agresive are they, and if they do bite, do they bite alot?
@Xxfasoo0oolyxX Nooooooooo, sorry but I live in the NYC and we have two months of summer at best. My dog husky Neo was extremely fatigued and overheating constantly. BRushing would help u but you bring a husky to a warm country such as that, then you won't be able to enjoy each others company. Try going to a cold side of the country, in this case 30 to 40F. You wanted the truth right?
@SirHomsar Hehe, yeahh <3 I have a snake, and I love her to death. I would just love to cuddle up to a cute little furry animal for once without being admitted to the hostpial later.

@fraroc I think those are particularly used for autoimmune diseases, but if I were seriously allergic I wouldn't use those purely for the purpose of taking care of pets. I've heard that immunosuppressants make you more vulnerable for cancer and infections, because they suppress your immune system. I think you can still have pets that don't shed heavily if your allergy isn't too bad and if you often vacuum the house. I've also heard that it helps if you don't allow pets to enter your bedroom.
I also want a husky, I live in Canada so it should have no problem with our winters but what about in the summer? Even if you shave them in the summer will they be ok or will they overheat?
@CHROMEPHENIX shouldnt be a problem. My firend has a husky and in summer he let the husky walk on the treadmill. Im still gonna get one anyways ! BROWN AND WHITE<3
@CHROMEPHENIX NEVER AND I MEAN NEVERR !!! shave a husky , thats down-right animal cruelty . I have a husky and he is fine in the canadian summers , u have nothing to worry about . But just make sure to brush them quite often
@peachpit211 i didn't mean shave in that way, i meant getting their hair cut so its not incredibly thick so they don't overheat, but its good to know they will be fine during the summer in canada
Does anyone with a husky get complaints from their neighbors? Im looking to get a husky or ridgeback or australian shep to hike with me every week but i got nosy neighbors that wont wait to call the cops on a few barks if itll give them something to do
@GODIN101 Well I have 16 huskies. Yes 16 and they can be quiet there not that loud. They only bark or howl if in danger or sometimes happy. But you will be fine you can train your dog not to bark and only bark when necessary. But just to let you know it took me 2 years to train Malaki who is 2 now :L
I have one husky named Lucky....I would love to take him out for walks so he could enjoy his life but I just cant...he pulls me and is so eager to just go run out and explore...ive watched all training videos on youtube and nothing has worked...can someone please give me someone please give me advice?
@josecaal94 The first step towards any dog is draining its energy. Exercise the hell out of your dog. Plan a whole day if you have to, but until you tire it out, you can't train effectively. If you can't get your dog tired on a regular basis, your energy level is not compatible with it. A tired dog is a happy dog, and huskies especially WANT to WORK. Try looking into weight training and drafting.
We have a male siberian we got last year he is one year old in 2 days! great dog but a lot of work and very stubborn, can't fully trust him off leash unless he has nowhere to run, they are very independant, big personality! Good dog but our schedules let one of us be with him all the time and he's still a handful. You need lots of time. Can't leave these dogs alone for more than 3 or 4 hours.
These are such beautiful dogs but unfortunately a lot of people do not realize what it takes to raise them, and get them solely for their looks, completely ignoring their high maintenance in terms of training and exercise especially.
I love huskies but I also love rottweilers if I buy both when they are puppies do you think they are going to be good and not fight each other when they get older since rottweilers are more agresive please let me thanks
As long as you train the Rottweiler right from young age and consistently the dog will not have aggression issues. You seem to be very uneducated about dogs. You better do EXTENSIVE research on dogs ESPECIALLY if you're going to get a Rottweiler or you'll just be one of those irresponsible owners that gets Rottweilers their bad rep. It's not the dog, it's the owner.
Actually, most huskies in the US at this moment are the result of the participants in the run to Nome.
Why?
The huskies were put in a kennel somewhere in the US and there they would breed.
Something even better than just Balto saving the city of Nome is that people fight over if Togo or Balto is the true hero, i personally find Balto the real hero, Togo lost his way to one group of dogs and ran for around 600 miles, when Balto came he took a dangerous path, deadlier than Togo's.
As much as I agree with you (even though I come from wyoming) siberian huskies actually come from siberia, russia and were bred by the Chukchee people.
My husky Rocco's sleeping under my chair right now... All I gotta say for someone who's thinking of getting one... They have -quite- the personality! So quickly showing dominance as a leader is essential, we delayed it because he was a cute puppy and that lead to him thinking he could be alpha as he grew up, which lead to very tough and long training. But over all huskies are very strong, loyal dogs and the way Rocco leaps into snow is propbably my favourite part of living with a husky in Canada
@MrBobthecorncob Hey Im in QLD Australia and own two huskies we get temps up to the 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees Fahrenheit) with high humidity and my dogs are fine. frozen bones and auto fill bowl and calm shells with water for them to lie in and they will go lie in the full on sun!!! (we do watch for heat stock n bring them in to the a/c too ...spoilt pups lol)
Actually I live in Houston, Texas I have seen a few huskies doing fine over here despite the subtropic temperatures. They are very adaptable creatures, however huskies obviously do better in cold weather than hot
The video should have pointed out that, like all animals, these dogs need time to become aclimated to cold weather before being able to handle the extremely low temperatures. And as the dog digging a 'nest' in the snow illustrates, being able to get out of the wind is important, too. Most viewers will know this, of course, but it seemed worth adding.
@Jefferdaughter They are born with thick ass fur and have an amazing winter coat. They don't need to adapt to shit. They can handle pretty much any low temps at any time. Altleast my boy can.
Well thank you for your educated response, but maybe you should learn how to spell Antarctica before you call someone an idiot. By the way if you were trying to make a reference to the Siberian husky they are from Alaska not Antarctica. Also there are Siberian Huskies raised here in Texas I would not “ship” one. Thank you for your well mannered response though!
@hhandszer1 Are you a fucking idiot? DON'T BRING A HUDKY IN TEXASi. How would you like it if you were shipped to anatica? Get a retriever or shepherd dumb ass unless you go sleding at the park. Idiot get research on a dog befor u makes its like miserable
Help please! I live in Texas, the temp ranges from low 20's to 115 in the summer. I am very athletic and like to go to the park. Would a siberian husky not be the right type of dog for me?
@hhandszer1 thats not true :) dogs can live EVERYWHERE im from colombia and temperature can be high, my husky likes to lie on the sun on the mornings... so i guess she dont mind :) he is a happy beautifull husky
@lolovesebi1 Where do you live in Cali ? It depends in the area, where you live. If you live in Central California..don't get a Husky. I live in Southern California and a fairly amount of pet owners have Siberian Huskies because I see them all the time at the dog park or dog beach. But, I live near the beach.....o the temperature is pretty mild year around except few days of the year when we have a heatwave.
HELLO I AM 8 YEARS OLD AND I HAVE A HUSKY AND AN AKITA HUSKY IS MALE AND AKITA IS FEMALE THE HUSKY BITES ME A LOT AND HE BITES MY AKITA WHEN SHE WANTS TO EAT OR DRINK WATER
@WAXERWOW Um, I guess tell your Dad and he could tell it "No!" with a light tap on the noise whenever he bites, or put him in your backyard if you have one or the garage if you don't. And try to keep him away from Your Akita when she eats! Hope I helped! :)
Shittttt my sister whos 14 and im 12 wants to get a Siberian Husky and when you take them on a walk do they like just run and you get pulled on the sidewalk in the City? Because if so IM SCARED
"...They love pulling sleds" Oh really? Cause you know, every morning I like to wake up, get thrown some half-ass food then pull some lazyass around all day. Thats like saying the slaves loved working in the fields. Just because they do it, doesn't mean they like it....
@JyroFilms If you're going to compare sled dogs to slavery, you're disgusting. I don't see sled dogs being whipped until they bleed, or half-starved and left to sleep in the dirt.
@JyroFilms Dude, they aren't humans. Dogs actually like to work and run; it's natural instinct. That's why it's better to walk your dog properly than just quickly go outside. Plus, dogs are fine with being underneath you so long as you are being a decent "master"! Security is very important to them, more important than independence! In fact, a dog who thinks he/she is alpha is a nervous dog. It's a lot of pressure. So yeah, it's just a different mentality.
I own 4 sibes, theyaint just dogs, they are a lifestyle.

Thank you for your well mannered response though!
hhandszer1 1 month ago
@hhandszer1 Are you a fucking idiot? DON'T BRING A HUDKY IN TEXASi. How would you like it if you were shipped to anatica? Get a retriever or shepherd dumb ass unless you go sleding at the park. Idiot get research on a dog befor u makes its like miserable

I live in California and I'd love to have a husky:( I couldnt have it live in that much hear tho I'd feel bad
lolovesebi1 1 month ago
@lolovesebi1 Where do you live in Cali ? It depends in the area, where you live. If you live in Central California..don't get a Husky. I live in Southern California and a fairly amount of pet owners have Siberian Huskies because I see them all the time at the dog park or dog beach. But, I live near the beach.....o the temperature is pretty mild year around except few days of the year when we have a heatwave.

WAXERWOW 1 month ago
@WAXERWOW Um, I guess tell your Dad and he could tell it "No!" with a light tap on the noise whenever he bites, or put him in your backyard if you have one or the garage if you don't. And try to keep him away from Your Akita when she eats! Hope I helped! :)

"...They love pulling sleds" Oh really? Cause you know, every morning I like to wake up, get thrown some half-ass food then pull some lazyass around all day. Thats like saying the slaves loved working in the fields. Just because they do it, doesn't mean they like it....
JyroFilms 1 month ago
@JyroFilms If you're going to compare sled dogs to slavery, you're disgusting. I don't see sled dogs being whipped until they bleed, or half-starved and left to sleep in the dirt.
DarkBraelyn 1 month ago
@JyroFilms Dude, they aren't humans. Dogs actually like to work and run; it's natural instinct. That's why it's better to walk your dog properly than just quickly go outside. Plus, dogs are fine with being underneath you so long as you are being a decent "master"! Security is very important to them, more important than independence! In fact, a dog who thinks he/she is alpha is a nervous dog. It's a lot of pressure. So yeah, it's just a different mentality.

@FeatherSplit speak for your self ;P I love working out and running! ;)
