yes this movement is very nostalgic and serene-- this sonata was actually dedicated to spanish poet garcia lorca who was killed by fascists...the inspiration was his famous line, " the guitar makes dreams weep"

There is an overwhelmingly sad feel around this music as if Poulenc is pouring his heart out to a friend and recalling events long past and maybe a personal loss . which deeply affected him . I must admit Poulenc seems to talk to you through his music ...
