Looking back on this wonderful group I must think about evanescence... There's no more ABBA, no more (in the story of the song) love and this one person isn't in my life anymore. I'm missing him and will wait until he comes back to me.
I agree with the general sentiment here - ABBA was one of the greatest groups that ever graced a stage. My first album in the '70's was "ABBA Gold". I listened to it until the grooves wore out!
Being a musician I can really appreciate the perfection in timing, intonation and harmony. Even their "live" performances were studio quality, unlike most other groups who are almost unidentifiable when performed live.
Would that I could go back in time....if only for a day.
@Brakballe Actually...Ms. Lyngstad's mother was Norwegian. Her father was a German soldier who impregnated her mother during the German occupation. She talks about how the Norwegian community shunned them even though it wasn't their fault. The German soldiers were encouraged to breed with the inhabitants of the countries that they were occupying during WW 2.
I love the drummer tones it down in the middle and slows. It sounded PAINFUL. This went very well with the lyrics! Nice idea. The backup group is wonderful just like mackzzz said.
Hot is the only word I can think of when I see these two girls. Also, whe ABBA had their first in 1974 (Waterloo) they could barely speak English!! Today, after all the divorces, they barely speak to each other and WILL not sing together ever again.
there was a big local group in sweden that was calld NATURE. The best live band in sweden at that time.Never heard the blues better than they did on th clubs in stockholm.Amazing to se them all be the band behind ABBA on stage.
After more than 3,000 views, I still find this the most perfectly produced, written, choreographed, composed and performed song of all time. And it is LIVE!, Imagine that? There will never again be a group that has pleased, entertained, and instilled a sense of musicianship that ABBA has graced this world with. In the same class of Bethoven and Mozart for hundreds of years to come. Truly, just truly, the best of the very best.
right with you, abba was very amazing in studio than in live.....it s signs that it was and still perhaps, stayted one of the best band in the world......
@B52sguy Dear sir, hello. I believe Pink Floyd's "Echoes" Live in Pompeii is the best choreographed, composed & performed song of all time, if you have never seen it, check it out bro.
Tänk så mycket skit abba fick i sverige på 70-talet,ja det är inte lätt o bli profet i sin egen hemstad !!! /During the 70`tis abba only did get shit from the media in sweden ??!! Paybacktime !
When I was 11 years old, I stood queueing for 5 hours with my father for tickets for the ABBA concert in Rotterdam. When the door of the vendor opened, the concert was already sold out. I was heartbroken and I am still not over it.
STUNNING lead vocal. I always thought Agnetha provided the main vocal power and was the heart of the ABBA sound but this makes me reconsider my opinion...
Does Frida's voice break into crying at the end of the word; play; at: timeline - 2:06 - ?? I wouldn't be surprised since she is that emotional woman....
OK, I must have seen this a half a dozen times. but just surfing back I had to watch it again to the end. The song is so mesmerizingly powerful. It's a perfect song. Bjorns complicated supporting vocals intertwine in the song perfectly. Frida looks so amazingly strong in this song. Also I love her smile at the end at the audiences appreciation of her perfect vocals. Thanks for extending this. The song means a LOT to me.
I agree, Frida gave ABBA a certain gravitas and sensuousness that the others did not have. She was , and still is, a very beautiful woman. Its also interesting that she was the only non Swede in the group.

Remember that Michael B Tretow and Stickan Andersson, and especially the former, was a key to the ABBA sound. He is a genius with sound production and the ABBA sound was conceived through experimenting with different techniques.
But they did sound good, didn't they. Ways before the age of pitch-shifters and auto tuners that is standard today. Pure brilliance.
@kensmom33@kensmom33 Both are beautiful in their own ways, but one cannot help comparing. Like you, I'd vote Frida but I remember in those days, when you'd have nothing else to argue about, how I was "admonished" for having bad taste. I guess it's in the eye of the beholder.

@123SadieRocks321 This song was the most difficult song to play live: at first: they had many left and right sounds put in the record so the tempo was faster (hear the studiorecording) but when they had to play this live on stage it had to be played one step slower just because of the less effects they could produce. so don't be bothered about bad conditions: in that time it was very common for abba (it wouldn't be nice anymore if there had to be what what you see now 8 synths more on stage!
Thanks for post a wonderfull performance, i remember this song when i have 7 years old, and the remembers back to my memory, my family, my childhood my dear friends, you make me cry, THANKS A LOT!!!
