Hopefully you didn't address this; if you did, I missed it: some parents won't admit their kids should be at a lower level, and will then pressure the school into putting the children in a higher class. I'm in high school, and we have three levels of the "main" classes, and then a more advanced course for seniors/juniors to take alongside their normal courses. What is your opinion on parents deciding the placement of their children, if they're not acknowledging the school's decision?
My opinion: Parents should have the "best" interest of their children at heart and should ultimately be able to admit when their child needs help in the short term, while working for the long term. When it comes down to it, however, the final placement decision should rest primarily on testing results, with school administrators enforcing the decision. Just to ensure the decision is not biased.
i agree to this. the problem with Americans when it comes to education, is that one, we are at the apathetic generation and two, teachers are under paid. I had asked two of my teachers what they get paid on a hourly basis and they said it was below minimum wage (7.87 and 7.43). Minimum wage is 8.07 an hour by the way. People within this country need to make learning a second priority (the first being the war in the middle east).
