As of yesterday, gay marriage is now legal in my homestate, New York. I see it as a huge victory for human rights.

I believe in Gays loving. But I think the title of being married should be different for same sex couples. The name changed to something else the same rights. Because the meaning of marriage is the joining of a man and a woman is it not?

They should have the same rights, but not the title of being married. If this is wrong then how? The title married is nothing more then a title. It would be exactly the same just a different meaning.

@megailadan It's actually defined as a social union between people, not necessarily a man and a woman. marriage is universal throughout every culture, even prior to the bible contrary to most beliefs. making them hold a different title would still be a form of discrimination, although very miniscule. but, not a bad idea, i wonder how that argument would fair in congress? maybe if some of the more bigoted people could give them a different title they wouldn't see it as them being the same as

@MudTide1993 I'm going by from the anthropological book Notes and Queries where it says a union between a man and a woman. If the title was different I don't see any form of discrimination, it would be a different word for a different type of connection.

Never knew it was just the joining of two people not specifically a man and a woman thanks for clearing that up.

They're just normal people. I think they should get the rights to marry. Here in the Netherlands, gays are legally allowed to marry. I think nobody should be disrespected in any way, including the sexual views.
