Do you think that I can get the edge-of-breakup sound and still be heard in a band mix? Basically I want a slightly overdriven tone which, if i roll down the guitar vol knob to about 7 gets clean.
would you recommend that for blues, classic rock and hard rock?(not metal)i found this one on internet slidhtly used and i am between this and an orange dual terror...what do you think ?and last but not least this amp cleans be rolling your guitar volume ?
Yo Dr Crankenstein, how about a little more variety out of this puppy? The vid is called "Sounds from a Marshall 2061x" but all I hear is "Sound" from it, e.g. one sound. How about the other channels? Back off the volume. Play with the tone variations. You know ... a demo!
hmm i'm thinking the orange cab actually dampens the highs and the agressive sound that the marshall does so well? from what i've heard, orange cabs don't sound aggressive.
The 20 watt Marshall Lead and Bass has it's inputs laid out like the one in this video. Your brother has a completely different amp altogether. Higher wattage Marshalls have all 4 inputs on the right.
@GuitarzFromMarz The hotplate is great, not perfect as it takes away some of the tone but this is a small sacrifice to make to be able to crank the amp at volumes which don't upset the neighbors
it's not that you're a crap guitarist, I actually think you're quite good, but you play everything tooooo fast. Slow down a bit, what's the rush? Guitaring is like a fine wine, you get better with age/experience :)
Hi im looking into getting a 1x12, just for at home use hence why i want it to be small so it dosnt get in the way. I unfortunantly currently only have a Marshall MG head but have it hooked up to a tubescreamer and noise supressor so its not all bad haha. How do you reckon the cab will take that? And is this a worth while investment?

@holds77 the Orange PCC112 is rated to handle 60 watts. you can totally crank a 50 watter into it. i played a rockerverb 50 through mine for a while before getting a 4x12.
nice set you got there, if was just wondering because ive been watching and listening to many marhsall 2061x demos now and they all sound kind of mushy mellow to me. Tell me straight are these amps mellow and made for early metal, hard rock or can I get clean low gain crunch out of it? (by mushy i dont meen bad but I cant really describe the sound)
@Paddtorsk I think that it sounds best with everything cranked up with an OD pedal for some good hard rock / early metal sounds. If you roll back the volume and use a guitar with low output pickups you can get some nice on the edge of breakup sounds, works really well with my strat.
Like me I see you dig the high input on the Treble channel with tone cranked full up. I've uploaded a couple of videos with that amp this weekend, check 'em out.
How loud is this amp?

@orangeandhoney Where have you heard that? Stock with Celestion V30s,they sound plenty aggressive to me!

So is the Tube Screamer on the whole time?

Zeppelin always finds its way into every marshall amp test... And rightly so too.

Incredible tone. I HAVE to get a hotplate, along with either a good vintage marshal, or a fender vibroverb.
Fishies125 1 year ago
nice tone brother!!! your playing sounds alot like mine.

Sounds great. I played a vintage one of these today and I think the sound from both is superb.

This is not a marshall, this is a Ceriatone 20W Lead & Bass
Julgus01 1 year ago
@Julgus01 What makes you think that ? It is actually a handwired Marshall.
holds77 1 year ago
@holds77 My brother have a Marshall 2061x, and it doesn't look like that. The 4 input are at right.
Maybe they change the design ? I've seen other video of this amp, and the input are like yours, so, do you think, they change the design ?
Julgus01 1 year ago
@Julgus01
Never ever seen any other version then the one in the vid. If your brother's amp isn't a fake, it's probably kinda rare.

@Julgus01 they din't change anything, it's a reissue...maybe your brother has a fake ceriatone haha

Have you tried other attenuators? so many why did you pick this one?
Does amp sound the same with 2 12's

what guitar is used in clip?

@recknala The cab has one vintage 30 in it. The guitar was a Gibson Les Paul Custom.

Those riffs you're playing in the second half of the vid are pretty cool. They'd make good rocks songs

can you crank up the amp at bedroom volumes with the THD and have distortion without the THD ?
mariosapm 1 year ago
@mariosapm Only way you'll get any breakup at bedroom levels is with the hotplate as the amp doesn't have a master volume

NICE...can't go wrong with a (good) Marshall and Orange!!

@dillingerescplanjack Sorry mate, don't know much about the MG amps, just be careful with the power as the cab only has one 30 watt speaker in it

witkac87 1 year ago
hi, i see you are using a hotplate, at which volume are you playing ? (Not bedroom i guess, but something like loud TV ?)
Thanks
alltrax74 1 year ago
@alltrax74 Probably a really loud TV is a good example, although I can get some great tones with the hotplate down to bedroom levels.
holds77 1 year ago
@holds77 It still breaks up nice and is really crunchy without the tube screamer, rite? How loud is it without the hot plate?
theShowStopper321 1 year ago
@theShowStopper321 Its pretty loud, but it is only 20 watts so it's not going to send you deaf
holds77 1 year ago
@holds77 20Watts can be enough for a basement concert and far enough for rehearsals.
I am thinking of buying either 15 or 30 (maybe 20) watts amp, as tubes are working 100% and you don't get a too loud sounding.
