Another great video. Really tells the tale of two sonic realms. The regular Sunface is pretty smooth, dare I say subtle. The high gain version gets very robot like at those higher levels. I need to get me one of those 275's!
Forgot the point I was going to make. My early NKT Sunface has a sundial, but no on/off toggle like yours and no on/off knob (and no LED). Just a footswitch, 2 knobs, and a sundial in the big box. early FF all the way. For silicon fuzz, I've been using my Throbak Overdrive Boost. LOVE that pedal. Hard to get used to, but so versatile. Most-dynamic OD/Fuzz I've heard. Pricey, but worth it (I got mine when they were cheaper). Also real-happy with my Sweet Sound Pro Bender (#21). Coolest fuzz I own
I was listening to the demo without watching and I would switch back and I could totally tell which one was being played without looking. I like the non-overdrive model. It seemed to have a more full sound. Besides if I want overdrive, I'll turn on my overdrive in the chain.
@ScarletTheory Your talking about our left the NKT red light right? I think its amazing and super warm. I like fuzz but it has to be the right kind. Too much high end fizzyness and i'm out.
Really helpful vids for those afflicted with Fuzz GAS. Maybe you could show the difference in guitar volume roll off sometime. I'd love to see a comparison with the TI/UK too.
I have one of the early NKT Sunfaces (from early '03, I think). Pretty-sure it has the first-batch '60's New Market NKT's that Mike refers to on his Sunface page. I also have a Throbak Fuzz Haze. The Sunface just has that old-school, early, Arbiter FF sound in spades. Very-toneful, musical (Think Jimi's 1st album), while the Fuzz Haze has a lot more gain, but not as toney, musical (Still very-usable - You've actually convinced me to give it another shot at the gigs, so will do).
awesome... was just wondering how they did compare one against the other! do you guys think the higain one can cover the sounds of the normal one backing off the fuzz and sundial?
@AlembicPools TROLL!!!!!!! lol

Hows does the Highgain work out with a LP? Or just humbuckers in general?
micsan28 1 year ago
Get the high gain. If you want less gain, roll off the volume.

I would REALLY like to know what the toggle switch does...... I have never seen that on a AM NKT before......
GREAT demos as always!
jdawg42042 2 years ago
it's an on/off switch....instead of the knobbie being an on/off pot, he stuck a switch on it...
ROCK ON!

man both of them together sounds NASTY GOOD! i'm on the fence, the high-gain is smooth like butter but the low gain has some tasty details
HOW COME NO BIAS KNOB ACTION ON THIS VID, BROTHA?
BigNickontheDrum 2 years ago
im loving the harmonics on the low gain.

Yep The High Gain sounds more HUGE but the standard is more musical and i bet the standard would sound way better on an already driven amp :D :D

Ah, What's the switch toggle on the normal one?

Good question i really wanna know what it does!

The high gain definitely has more of a "Wow Factor," but I like the clipping of the regular version better. Sounds a bit more musical.
