ha, maybe it's you who didn't get the whole message. in the end we see the happiness of bird - but this happiness is built on the bones of a lot of dead people. so it's not a "happy end" as you may think. it's more terrible, i think, than just a moralistic end when a bird is punished for her sins. no, the whole thing is that when the bird sees that her nestling is alive, she forgets about everything she did and begins to build the new nest... life goes on... ;)

I think if the little bird would die in the end the short film could have much more strenght. A happy end is what everyone wants but not the real life how it is shown in the film.
