  • (NARADA DISASEKARA FUNERAL DAY) thank you for uploading this clip

  • Jeewa in her youthful beauty & Gamini the dashing romeo of the 60s. It is such a pleasant suprise to see clips of ranmuthu duwa on you tube. I was lucky to get a copy [ faded one ] of the film, but would like to watch on you tube. How do I do it ?? Thank you for sharing this rare master peice.

  • Thanks for posting this wonderful original.

This I think is Nanda Malani's maiden song?

She became famous with this song.

  • I don't think This is Nanda Malani's maiden song.

I think that is "Budu Saadu"

This is Nanda Malani's maiden Film song

  • @pooji9 Nanda Malini's first film song was for Daruwa Kageda in 1961 "Mee Masso Run Run".. This is her second.

  • This is her first film song. It was recorded when she was only 13. Amazing.

  • I am lucky enough see the whole Ranmuthuduwa film thank you so much. this is the first Sri Lankan colored film.

  • wow nice to see the original version...

  • Thanks for posting this great video....!!!

  • which year did it come out?

  • I saw this film over 40 year ago. It was the first Sinhala colour film, and the only colour film for over 20 years.

  • so im guessing around the mid 1960s?

  • This film came out in 1963. And Pooj is right about Gambada Sundari being the first colour film.

  • yeah, 1962.

  • This is not the 1st sinhala color movie.

that credit goes to "Gambada Sundari (produced in 1951). As for the next color movie - it came 4 years after this - Wesathuru Siritha.

There were several color movies aftre that, inclduing "Rahas Doopatha" - Swarna Kahawita's 1st movie.

  • Pooj, have you seen 'Gamada Sundari'; does it still survive? What is it about?

  • Dear MelyndaMann

no I have not see Gambada Sundari. I don't think it survives. Here is what I know (knew for a long time)

    1. it is the 1st color sinhala movie

    2. it was filmed in 16 mm and expanded to 35 mm. (we should not discount based on that, because many other sinhala movies also belong to that category)

    3. It was a flop - huge flop I think

    4. It was relaesed in 1950

  • Release date - 1962-August-10

  • I heard that this film was completely destroyed during the 83 riots. No complete copy is available anywhere. What a loss?

  • I hope that's not true. There must be some copies still surviving.

  • Now you cann watch full movie "Ranmuthu Doowa" in you tube.

  • This was the first color film to be done in Sri Lanka... historical and rare footage... thanks for posting!
