Every now and then, I push the start button, takes a minute to kick on. Doesn't do it all the time, am thinking, one of those things, all the bells and whistles and electronics.
Anybody else have a delay reaction, sometimes, on the start button?
Hey Dude, thanks for the response. I got the funds together and bought a Simpsons pin. Been watching the YouTube reviews and reading up. Lot of positive feedback, can't wait to get mine. I really like the way you can do a system check, volume control, I saw it displayed at the end of this clip, really it was the selling point. I'm going to place the back of the machine to a inner wall, hope it absorbs some sound.
Is there a volume control on these games? I live in Southern California, beach community. Neighbors are close and I worry about the noise. I had an old Williams "Magic City" mechanical machine that I had to get rid of, too noisy. I'm ready to pull the pin and buy "Simpsons Pinball Party", noise is an issue though.
Yes there is a volume control. I own this game and absolutely love it! The problem I have encountered with pinball is this. Even if you have the volume all the way down, they still make a lot of noise that seems to penetrate through walls and ceilings. It is the firing of the coils that does it.
I first spotted this at a Chuck E. Cheese's in Michigan in around 2006 or 2007. It'll probably be the one I'll get if I can save up for my own pinball machine.
i didnt fall in love with pinball until about a month ago im trying to look at as many machines as i can. the simpsons pinball party is my favorite so far
Have you ever been to the pinball hall of fame in vegas? They go kinda crazy with LED mods, they even put white LEDs on pinball machines from the 1940s which looks kind of odd because the color is wrong. If they made LEDs with a more warm tungsten color it would be better. I understand that it means they dont have to change bulbs as much. My main issue with LEDs in pinball machines is that on modern machines, when a bulb is supposed to dim, on an LED it flickers like crazy, whats your opinion?
@lander77477 LED lights are really disorientating, I spoke to one guy he was nearly physically sick on a machine due to the use of LED's. Maybe something due to the hertz?
@brettv8 Yes it is because the circuity on the machine either wasn't originally designed for LEDs or the designers of the circuit board got lazy and make the LED flicker to simulate dimming rather then actually lowering the voltage. When an LED has constant current going into it they are solid on, and stable, its when then electricity decides to flicker at like 50 hertz or something it will drive me crazy. Incandescent lights cant flicker like that because they cant go off and on that fast.
hey John, I saw a photostream of yours on flickr.com, and i noticed that one pic had newer arcade games, such as Cruis'n World, House of the Dead, etc. Did you once own games like that at your old house?
Awesome pin (nice LED's), awesome gameroom, and awesome review! TSPP is a must have in a home game room environment, because of the crazy deep rules. Love the vids, John. Keep up the good work.

Whirlwind was the game that got me interested in pinball too. I wish I could afford to buy real arcade and pinball games.
Also, thank you for the explanation of the Daredevil modes. I never was real clear on how that worked.
