Special screening of THE HORSE BOY in Portland, Oregon, on October 20th 2010, at the Northwest Film Centre. Author Rupert Isaacson will be present for a Q & A after the film and sign his books!
Many genuine childhood problems are only now being recognised by the powers that be that govern young lives, even Asthma was derided by most teachers in my day , still is, look at the case in the English school only weeks ago where a boy died sitting in a corridor because the teacher did not see his upcoming death. The teacher has since been dismissed.
True enough what you say here ... Medical and neurological disorders not yet being explored, lack of information with parents, teachers and other officials, or even blunt ignorance, neglect and intolerance may lead to so much unneeded pain and suffering in children's lives. It is wonderful to see, on the other hand, that there are people like Rowan's parents, who literally went every lngth, to help their son, and bring so much good to many autistic children now.
Thank you for this nice comment , Denis:-)! Rowan's voyage is a proof that things can happen that are short of a mircale, if you really love someone and care for him.
Correct, James. Thanka for being so supportive! I got the information from Twitter and Facebook the very day it was published and made a comments update, but you even beat me to it :-)! Courtesy of YouTube's new video comments layout messup, I oly just (July 9th, by "see al comments")!!) discovered your post. YouTube had even flagged your entry as spam (for the URL, I guess, haha!). I approved your comment now and de-spammed it; I hope that it will now be displayed :-)!
I really did not realize that ... sorry to hear that, Cory - still, on camera, you're holding up really well then!
And: Sorry, for the name mixup - fallback into old times!
You can pre-order THE HORSE BOY already. And I think this movie is really wort owning it! Oh, and if you check over at my Truedantalion channel, you'll find a playlist THE HORSE BOY, with an interview of Rowan's dad and more videos on the book and the movie.
ive been getting worse though.......im starting to have minie sezures (cant spell) im talking less now....i like to type though.....which is good.......and its good that im aware of my changes....i guess its why i dont make much videos anymore.....i feel more comfy singing and playing guitar/ukulele. ive been distracted by numbers lately......if u see my last photo on dailybooth. i memorize things faster.
Gee, Cory, these are really no good news - again, I'm so sorry!
It's indeed good that you are aware of the things that change, and, very important, also of the things you feel comfortable with. I *love* it when you sing and play the guitar or the ukulele, so I'm glad that this is something that you are feeling good with.
Have you been to the doctors on that already? And what do they say - is there anything, some treatment for at least some of the symptoms maybe, that might help you?
they say that its not so bad....i have minor symptoms....
they would once told me to take sum kind of meds...but i refused.....i dont like taking meds....considering i already take too many. plus they would say that it might make my tourettes worse....which i didnt want....
I see what you mean ... there is always the risk of side effects, and the list of those with many meds is much longer than the listing of the medical / positive effects they have, and influence other conditions.
And you also have Tourette's? Oh my, Cory ... Well, as far as I learned, the kinda good thing with Tourette's is that obviously many of the symptoms kinda "outgrow" with the years, so this might be a good prospect for you there ...
I really send you all my best wishes on all of that!
Still, please double-check with your doctor on this. I learned (during my studies to become a social educator), that, if Tourette's starts, the symptoms / tics increase and get stringer for quite a time, that's right. Between the end of puberty and young adulthood, the illness very often diminishes. There are differences in the individual development, and some people also have Tourette's all their life, but with weaker symptoms again as when they were kids.
Yes, this is an awesome movie - because all you can see there has really happened, like they show it in the movie. It's a documentary, no fiction or drama. It is so fascinating to see how many lengths Rowans parents go to help their autistic son, and it is wonderful how Rowan actually gets better during that time.
THE HORSE BOY now playing in Denver, Lexington KY, Eugene and Portland OR and San Luis Obispo CA! Please click the link in the info box concerning theatre info and dates.
THE HORSE BOY now playing in San Rafael, CA; Santa Cruz; Minneapolis — and in Tulsa, a special appearance by Rupert Isaacson tonight at the Circle Cinema.
THE HORSE BOY reviewed on Los Angeles Times Entertainment.
"The family's eventual trek across Mongolia, strikingly shot by Scott and lovingly narrated by Isaacson, is remarkable not only because they actually survived the grueling adventure (...), but for the curiously transformative effects it had on Rowan. Was the boy's progress ultimately a result of the ancient mystical healing he received? That answer remains as mysterious as autism itself."
"Resolutely unvarnished (...) and astonishingly intimate, 'The Horse Boy chronicles a couple in emotional and physical extremity. Though experts are on hand — including Dr. Simon Baron-Cohen, a Cambridge University psychologist — to tell us how little they know about autism, the film (...) recounts a deeply personal, highly subjective and inarguably thought-provoking story of one familys quest for a certain kind of peace."
Update from Facebook, September 28th 2009: THE HORSE BOY Opens in New York on Wednesday Sept 30 at IFC Center - with Rupert Isaacson in person for shows Wed to Fri!

It sure is! After I saw it, I immediately made it possible to officially upload this trailer to Kel's channel, because I wanted to share it and help spread the word.
And with THE HORSE BOY, it is true what you can say about so many things that are really important and move us: It's life itself, that wrote this story. Any ounce and second you can see here is nothing but true life.
I'm sure we both won't miss this movie; check back in here occasionally for fresh info about release dates!
It IS a fascinating story, Mike, and this is so, because every bit of it is true - true life.
THE HORSE BOY, being a documentary, may be not the stuff that you or I usually go to watch at the movie theater, but I really believe, this movie is worth it.
You can find info about current screenings in the US via the respective link in the info box.
I agree with you in all of what you said. This movie, and the true story behind it, is something that every one of us should get to see and get to know
I hope THE HORSE BOY will be a major success all around the world. Please feel free to share this trailer video, to spread the word!
What we can see and experience here, by wintessinf the journey of Rowan and his parents, is a so heartwarming and uplifting example of parental love, and truly a beacon of hope for everyone, to never give up on their children.
Some ways and roads that we have to travel on, when raising children, may be long and testing, full of detours and obstacles. But they are worth to be taken ... for love.
I indeed discovered the trailer yesterday with your Favourites, and decided to get the official permission by the movie's distributor, Zeitgeist Films, to upload the trailer to Kel's Channel, as I think that THE HORSE BOY is a very important movie. So. Thank you for igniting the torch for me :-)!
