This was not staged, the shoppers at the mall were totally unaware and as one who just missed this performance it was a delightful treat which portrays the community's truest essence - selfless giving and caring for one another. Happy Holidays to all.
Thank you Mr. Hege and thanks to the Oratorio Society, Pops Orchestra and all the rest who were involved. I wish I had been there. Looks like you all had fun. Bravo!
To watch226 & buffedtrainer: There always seems to be someone who has to throw water on this sort of thing, passing a negative judgment just to show how hip they think they are. How sad. Hey folks, a bunch of talented musicians showed up to give the gift of great music to the public, for free, for the joy of doing it. Flash mob, sing-in, public group-sing, whatever you call it, it was a wonderful musical gift in the holiday spirit. We need more of this sort of thing! BRAVISSIMO!!
This isn't a flash mob...this was staged...and already set up on a platform...a flash mob is a total suprise to the audience.....this was anticipated.
@buffedtrainer While it may appear that way in the video, I guarantee you that 90% of the crowd was thoroughly surprised when suddenly close t 100 people stood up and started singing all around them. If you're ingnorant of the particulars, you shouldn't make bold unsupported statements.
The singers up front were there under the pretense of just singing Christmas carols. They started the Hallelujah Chorus and then suddenly there were people singing it everywhere. This was indeed a flash mob.
Ahh. I love this mall. Just went der today :3 .

3:52, I know the guy with the handlebar mustache!
He sings bass, and I know him from the IC lessons and Carols service.

I was there and the crowd was indeed surprised. There were over 300 singers in the crowd. It was incredibly moving.
