I just bought one today!

Had E30s before, and they arent the fastest but its all about the handling of rear wheel drive for me.

Im keeping it stock too, its been dropped 40mm and I dont really like it tbh, drove it 150 miles back home and its a bit too unstable over 80 or 90 mph. Absolutely LEVEL on bends though on normal roads.

Im loving it.

Oh and I dont want to worry about ripping the splitter off/smashing the diff/dinging the sump either, so back to MTECH stock it will go!

Whats the difference between this one and the 318i?

@awirefreak It is the same chassis as the 325i, but with a M42 engine with 136PS instead of 113 or whatever the 318i got. So it i got bigger brakes, better springs and dampers, cooling ducts for the brakes, a special lip on the front and a small ducktail on the trunk. Very good car for the money compared to the 318i! But it gets beaten everyday by old Hondas, so i got myself on of those instead ;)

@Mordiiax 'gets beaten' It was a joke. The power band on stock M42 is above 3,500 (dual mass flywheel momentum effects) and requires skill and guts to maximize the potential - one literally has to risk all. The gearing is for the Autobahn - and I doubt a Honda short of an NSX could stick with mine at high speed. And having put a little over 1600kms on a 91 in just under 8 hours I find the reliability and power superb. I rolled over a Civic 1500S and bought the BMW for stability. So I am biased.

@Mordiiax it was a long rising hump over a reverse cantor paved road (as in the slope was negative or slanted away from the centre) and as I crested the hump the road literally 'went away' the car spun 360* while hydroplaning, then planted two right side tires in the soft shoulder, and flipped, miraculously landing on the roof in a patch of dust and sand about 20 metres away (acting like a huge pillow) - the bus driver behind thought I was surely dead, but I busted out laughing at my dumb luck

@Destructo93 I am incredibly satisfied. I've gotten 49 mpg before, and there isn't much upkeep other than expected things. I've had to replace my center support bearing, and some random suspension bushing. The car itself is really fun to drive, and is just really tossable. I enjoy driving my car more than my dad's B6 S4.

The community is also really great, but you have to keep in mind that this car only has a 1.8L 4-pot. A very nice 4-pot. I love the M42; it's a great motor.

@scyth3 I just bought a red 1991 318is two weeks ago and remember you told me you got 49 mpg once? well I'm getting about 10-15 MPG which is very weird though the guy before me said he changed the oil every 3000km it is pitch black.. Changing it today :P can't WAIT for summer!!! dropping 1 inch and a half and chipping =D

Very little interior rattles. Really good quality if you compare to new japanese cars! Fuel.. hmm.. hard to make it use more then one litre in 10 kilometres. Average it is a cheap car! Trackdriving costs money, no question. But the 318is e30 is the way to go fast with low money.
