Did it with a simpje cd for the surface. mounted the stuff in a old broken PS console. Instead of putting the mouse inside, remove the mouse casing and solder an exrta buttton (the left one) to the front of the console for easier usage (wont need to keep it clicked with the other mouse)....sorry I dont have pics or vids anymore....did this 4 years ago.
the mouse works off of a laser. that laser beems onto a cardboard disk. When the disk moves, the mouse thinks its moving in a circle. So instead of using your mouse to move in a circle, you can use a simple cardboard disk. The software actually does the mixing

The idea is far more older guys, so please guyz be careful when u say whose it was.
I made my scratch box like 4 years ago, and i used an old cd-rom drive, a usb mouse and a cd.
So i emptied the cd-rom and kept only the spin motor.then i soldered another button to the mouse electronics, which i transfered forwards. then paint the cd with radial lines and ready to put on and scratch.
I havent tested it but I would imagine you may get a better result by drawing some lines on the side that the mouse reads but any way you slice it that is sick.
Yes the box must be rough (or at least the "platter" pad) if you use a "polished" cardboard (the one with print on it) the mouse will have less sensibility (try moving the mouse over a specific pad and over glass)
Besides that I think the next step will be building a cardboard fake Technics 1200 :-D
What he's saying is something like: "Hey, can we make 40 pizzas with potatoes friday evening? This is not a joke, it's Jarl who's asking"... but the quality wasn't too good, so I didn't understand all of it :p
¿El ratón es óptico o de bola? Al principio me parecía que se iba a fabricar un trackball casero, pero ya veo que el objetivo es muchísimo más original =)
No hay mas casero que este. Felicidades me gustó tu video!

dfcooper 3 years ago 2
I think the lines are useless because the mouse CCD sensor is designed to read the roughness of the cardboard rather than the patterns
Renatodonadio 3 years ago
Interesting, perhaps coragated cardboard then?

hey i dont get how u did it... can u explain more?
XtremeDisaster 5 years ago
Well, instead of moving the mouse sideways to scratch we move the "table".. The scratch plate is used to control the x-axis movements of the mouse.
The mouse y-axis is aligned with a radius of the plate.
