Oh My!Look at those MEAN HORRIBLE LITTLE QUAKERS! That must be why some states outlaw them! We wouldn't want anything that MEAN AND HORRIBLE in our state, would we?
(thank you so much, i love the video..wish I could have one in Kansas)
i keep my quaker out of the cage most times... and once he followed me into the bathroom when i drew myself a bath... so now from time to time, i will let him get in the bath with me...
I have a green quaker too...but I can't seem to get him to take a bath outside of his cage...What's the temperature of the water you usually give them?
Room temp or a little warmer. Some like it cooler some like it a little warmer most of mine like it just a little warmer. If you live in a warm and dry area then they might like it a little cooler. Quakers come from rain forest environment and they are made to resist a lot of wet weather so if they now live in a dry atmosphere of a home with air conditioning they will want to be wetter and warmer.
One day my wife was hand carrying this red dish from the kitchen where she fills it to the bird's room where they bathe when all of a sudden all 5, we only had 5 then, QPs flew over to her and jumped into the dish while she was carrying it. She had to stand there and hold it 3 feet off the ground while they played and bickered and splashed. Water splashed everywhere and Jo, my wife got soaked. She had a very difficult time holding it because it was so funny. We both stood there and laughed.
aaww! My quaker, Sami loves his baths. he gets water everywhere.
I only have one bird, but i can tell him apart from every other quaker. he's littler, and whenever he sees me he shakes his head and says "uh oh" or "peekaboo" so its easy to tell him apart.
Actually I can hear the difference when they fly. I can hear the difference when they speak. I can hear the difference in the noises they make and even see differences in the way they walk. For all of them looking so much alike there are some differences that really stand out. The most fun one is to close your eyes and and listen to them flying toward you to see if you recognize who is flying.
Adorable! Quakers are such little clowns. I'm sorry to see that your 1 quaker has a feather plucking problem, I used to have a quaker and mine did too unfortunately, but she was still a blast to be with and is forever my once-in-a-lifetime pet. Your blue quaker is absolutely beautiful too, is that Squirt? lol
Jon-Mark, I love this video. This is Jen, Morgie's Momma from Quakerlovers. This is great. I have video's of Morgan that I want to upload but I have to figure out how to get audio to upload as well. I hope you post more videos.

Hey your quakers are cute! I been thinking about getting one how are their temperment? I have cockatiels
SheltieFan80 3 years ago
They're more personable than cockatiels, from what I've expierienced. Most people say Quakers are the best parrot you can get.

They're a rare mutation. Can cost upwards of double the price of a normal Quaker, but their plumage is quite spectacular.

If my parrots dont pay attention to the bath I plash with my fingers also in the water but mostly they attack my finger then :D
GermanSTUKA 4 years ago
Splashing the water is how we usually start the Quakers taking their baths. The noise gets their attention and then they "Parrot" the noise. :-)

How big do quakers generally get?
MissBlinxAlot 4 years ago
Depending on the species there is a wide general range 90-140 grams. The most common weight is 100-115 grams though.
