Sokka in japanese doesn't sound that different from the american version. It definitely doesn't sound like "soe-ka". :( They should ask a Japanese how he would say Sokka before they jump to assumptions. :/

this is the way they are going to pronounce it in the movie. i read an article that explained the directors reasoning to changing the pronunciation of sokka and aang. They also changed how to say Uncle Iroh (Eye-Row) to Uncle Eer-Row. Oh, and they changed the pronunciation of the word Avatar...it now sounds like Of-Atar, but you can barely notice that one. I believe the director wanted each character to pronounce their name based on their character's background and origin in the movie.

@haikuchild1 thats how its pronounced in the movie .Becauce it is based off of easturn culture if a asian person with a asian accent were to say sokka they were to pronounce it as soaka which actully more realistic. same thing with aang . it will be pronounced as aong for that same reason. in my opinion its only noticable if your picky.

@haikuchild1 they didnt mispronounce it, they changed the names becuz thats how they r really supposed to sound. In the animation series they made it with an American accent.

@haikuchild1 It's been confirmed that in the movie Sokka's name will be pronounced Soe-kah, as it would in Asian languages. Also, Aang, will be pronounced Ah-ng for the same reason :(
