I can understand why the road is closed most the time. yes next time, will have to walk to the summit. Can always park car at cafe, and make anice day of it.
I used to ski on the fell many times in the 60' and 70's. Recently whilst on A66 thought i would drop in and check fell out again, but unfortunately found access restricted.
