Fuk that! Americans would have been interrupting that with sounds of woooo and waaaaaa and generally ruining the performance. Thank god we are still allowed independent talent.
Let's see.... Irish, Scottish, Norwegian, German, English, Native American and I don't know if there is any more...... Is it just me or should I live in Europe?
Classic fiddle player ...interesting tunes....but imagine how much better it could always be if they all new how really to get the most out of their instruments, like not always only playing in the top half of the bow and not having al left hand supporting the fiddle instead of their chins, which then lets their hand play the whole length of the fingerboard
@celloLWF Well the Chieftans, Coors etc all their fiddlers are classified as traditional irish fiddlers, but they use all the fiddle as it was built to be used , not top half of the bow and only first position of the left hand.............they were all probably classically trained by your thinking........great fiddlers none the less?
@yesmanokman Yes I do get it , I just dont think that you can classify a fiddle player because he has lazy technique that he is suddenly a "fiddle Player" or because of his choice of tunes. A Fiddle / Violin is a technically designed instrument developed over hundreds of years and to get the best sounds/ Tunes out of a fiddle you have to know how to get the best sounds out, no matter your choice of music.
@Arcusinoz yea but i mean,,, just because it was developed over hundreds of years doesnt mean its the right way,,, if you think about it,,, the way fiddle players hold their violins / fiddles is personal,, but you generally see trends accross different countys,,, in which they developed their own stance,,, which fed onto style,,,, the way the piece is played,,, the way the bow is held etc... and this has developed over hundreds of years as well,,, there really is no RIGHT way,,,
@yesmanokman Instruments are designed to be played and are made by people who play them, the fact that people modify their way of playing is not necessarily a positive, usually its a negative, the instrument to be played to its full potential, as designed by its creators, needs to have a certain level of technical skill and adherence to the technical requirements of playing that instrument. What your saying is that fiddle players by definition are allowed to be bad violinists, they arent.
@Arcusinoz ,,, i've been playing the violin / fiddle for 18 years now,,, i got completly fed up with the whole formalities of playing "properly",,, i now play in a relaxed style and make a pretty good living as a musician,,, am i wrong ?????? i won't and do not want to be "the best",,,, i play for myself and am fed up with people doing things "the right way",,,, so many kids quit the violin because of its Elite nature,,, and think its the be all and end all of playing,,, i dont..
@Arcusinoz if everyone kept playing the technique laid out by the maker nothing would ever change and no evolution would occur. Music changes because of creativity and doing things in a new way. The musicians are responsible for causing instruments to change to meet their taste and requirement just as much as creative innovative makers.
@Arcusinoz if everyone kept playing only according to the techniques laid out by the maker nothing would ever change and no evolution would occur. Music changes because of creativity and doing things in a new way. The musicians are responsible for causing instruments to change to meet their taste and requirement just as much as creative innovative makers. Vive le difference! long live diversity.

@SgtPepper303 - The Gaelic is actually a base dialect language that is spoken in many of the Celtic regions of the British Isles. When the Romans and other mainland Europeans pushed peoples across the channel, the language moved with them. Then in the middle ages, more movement of people (Saxons, Vikings, French, etc.) to England pushed the language even further north and west. Many went across the Irish sea to Ireland, others to Scotland. I think they both have some differences though.
@AutumnStallion16 holy crap I am too! I am half hispanic/Native american, and I'm also Irish, Slovakian, and probably german and little mixes in my irish-ness, but it seems as though the irish in me has portrayed itself through my physical looks as I turned out white :P I love Native American Culture and Celtic Philosophy.
Hm, I'm not irish but love irish songs. I use to dance with this kind of ones. And when I heard people in the back tapping their feet, I just wanted to dance ! Absolutely amazing. THANKS !

@Arcusinoz if they did that they would be a classical musician, hence defeating the authentic sound of irish fiddle.

Whats the difference between a Violin and Fiddle?
relimes 2 years ago
A fiddle is a smaller high pitched violin just like his and a violin is a lower one used for much more traditional music in America.
FallenAngel2737 2 years ago
@relimes Fiddles are used more for folk music, generally (not always)
