@REALTALKBABYBOY13 Oh Yeah that's here. Back in the day. She would record S. W. Michigan, ight before our Convication in Memphis. She was the president of the music department of COGIC. She teach those songs to us. WE use to call them "The Mattie Moss Clark Special" Man I misss that women of God!!!!!
No listen hear, Don't mess with The Original I Thank You Lord, If you don't know what you are doing...LOL...This is definitely from the SouthWest Mass Choir...Lord those were the days...
When I traveled with Nancy Harmon and the Victory Voices she used to sing a few of Dr. Moss's songs. Like "I Thank You Lord." She recorded that in the early '70's and used to rock the place on the organ.
WOW!! I haven't heard that song in years! One question...was that from the album "Show Me The Way"? If so, there's two other songs on that LP that I remember. They're "God Never Fails" and "I Know The Lord Will Make A Way".
I have a bunch of song, that aren't catergorized by album. They're just put together...and I know that I have the songs "Show Me The Way" and "The Lord Will Make A Way," but I'm uncertain about "God Never Fails."
Rowoches, maybe you are my only known hope. There was a song back in the 70's. The lyrics are " I believe for every drop of rain that falls, a flower grows...The choirs repeats the lead for several verses then they go into the vamp that says "think about it" The lead says how he brought me, how he taught me, how he kept me how he never, never left me...If you or some of your viewers could tell me who it is It would bring closure to a long search. If you have it please post it. Thanks tons!!
She may be ONE of the first gospel singers to earn a gold record, but I'm not sure which but either Roberta Martin, Mahalia Jackson or Clara Ward was the first...sometime in the late 1940's. Peeps need to know gospel history.
I believe she was the first person with a CHOIR to earn gold records. Not the first gospel singer. Dr. Clark wasn't known for her solo work, she's know for her ability to work with choirs.
the Ward singer was the firs gruop to recieve a gold record,(surely God is able) Mahalia was the first million seller in 1947(move on up a liittle higer) Roberta also got a gold record, Dr clark was the first chior director to have a gold record in 1958(i,m on my way to heaven) surley God is able & move on up were written by rev W.H Brewster.
Look Up and Live by Faith is on the City Called Heaven album

Acually the bass you can hear play is a double bass. The organist would likely be Ronnie Kelsey.

Is there any way to get a MP3 of those songs and others Mattie wrote for Southwest Michigan State Choir back in the day?
I'm gonna have to put togethr another "old skool" gospel CD of the artists I grew up listening to as a kid.
Thanks!

That is Albertina Walker & the Caravans, with a church choir, in which I can't remember their name right now. I'll post it soon.
It's on Albertina Walker's CD titled SAIL AWAY SOME BRIGHT MORNING, as well as a couple of others.

Please post more music from Mattie & the SW Mich. State Choir...this is stuff that may never be re-released again, and it's so classic!
Peace!
