  • man if you take 1 hour or 10 hour video i will watching you greatttt.

  • I hear an engine fueled by the tears of children and the souls of dead puppies

  • @mrgeraldbrent lol so awesome

  • is that WOT

  • how fast? we have a international tri axel with a detroit 6v71 and it hauls around 800-900 bushel just fine and its getting kinda weak. right after i was rebuilt a few years back it would run 80mph unloaded and its a vary heavy truck. its pretty much always overweight on the scales

  • @4lulaHutcherson5 $600 bonus or $600 bone-us??

  • some people might of not like diveimg these screamers but these ad ass diesels are what built america lol & if only they would of put a 12v92 in a semi that would of been a show

  • dam that badboy can move

  • Can actually smell the diesel, love it.

The log skidders on our timber farm have have the inline fours in them, awesome roar!

  • did you pick up much speed in that time

  • looks like he turning 26 or better!

  • Did they make a 6V92N, cause my buddy has a Astro with q 692 with dual stacks and I ain't got close enough to tell if they're true duals or not

  • I love how at the end after the truck gets over the hill the driver makes a cool hard shift. :)

  • one day im going to put a GM 6v92 two stroke diesel in my 1977 C/10. then ill ride threw hell and scare that fucking Devil shitless...

  • how many horsepower is this thing

  • super loud

  • O.o I got a boner lol

  • how does get its lubrication? oil injected?

  • about 0:20 thats the rpm you wanna keep these detroits at

  • at my county fair a gut had i wanna say a 6030 john deere with a detroit in it. it was all noise and no show but an awsome combination

  • Vtec kicked in yo!

  • @wei2coolman you stole my comment from the other vid. way to be original!! ya bastard lol jk jk

  • Do you know if it has any pluggs in it cause it smokes like a bandit

  • The only way to get any performance out of these engines was to drive it like you hate it!

  • Thats what I call clean burning !!!!!!

    Thats an understatement

  • The powertrain should be a DD 6V92TTA Silver 270 hp (@ 1950 rpm), coupled to the Spicer SST-1372A 7-speed manual.

  • nice sound i love 2-stroke smoking?

  • Drive em like you hate em.... dam I wish my 6.5 detroit sounded that way when I got on it.

  • poor ozone =(

  • Damn u working those gear u r a real trucker thats for damn sure

  • how many rpm's were u winding it up 2? had a hard time reading the tach! did u hit 2500 with it?

  • she's a beast!

  • hey when you making another video?

  • are you planning to make any other vids soon

  • @smokey1858 i have some more clips, but i have yet to put another video together

  • let her scream

  • Iv heard of 2 stroke diesels, but I doont know how they work, Is it the same as say a 2 stroke bike? just with diesel?

  • @WetDirtProductions nope. it has exhaust valves, figure that one out haha

  • wtf hahah, thats strange. well what ever, it works and sounds awsome! lol

  • @danetp ok, thats simple enough but can you figure out why they have no intake valves, because i did lol

  • @WetDirtProductions no a 2 stroke diesel does not get its lubrication from its fuel like a 2 stroke gas engine will. they scavenge with a mechanical blower rather than with the backside of the piston

  • @WetDirtProductions They have oil in the crankcase and when the piston comes down it uncovers the intake. The intake has to be pressurized with a supercharger because there is no vacuum in the cylinder.

  • @WetDirtProductions No you have a "hole" in the cylinder to take in freash fuel like Gasoline 2 stroke but u have one or two exhaust valves!

an a Roots Supercharger, so there are just two strokes ;)

and much fun with the sound

  • @WetDirtProductions It only has 2 Exhaust Valves Per cylinder and in take is like a Regular 2 stroke.

  • @Learnthethingsido There are four exhaust valves per cylinder.

  • @madtownmadman Oh really???

  • @WetDirtProductions the cylinder liners have holes in them about half way down from the top. The blower/supercharger is used to force air into the cylinders, a camshaft operates the exhaust valves and fuel injectors. When the exhaust valve opens and the piston is at BDC, the blower it acts like a scavaging effect on say a dirt bike with a pipe. the blower pushes the exhaust out thru the valve and puts in fresh air. They are very efficient actually because of this.

  • @WetDirtProductions there is a blower on the engine and when the piston moves down it reveals ports, the blower pushes fresh air in and the exhaust out.

  • @WetDirtProductions it has a blower on her, she intakes compressed air, through ports, not valves. injects fuel like a normal diesel.. then when the piston goes down a cam opens exhaust valves, letting air out. some detroits have turbos too. on top of the blowers.. the exhaust runs the turbo into the blower in to the engine. boosting power aot. without a blower, it would not intake air at the right presuure, and would not run.

  • fuck man with my truck souned like that 1 strock is the shit!

  • power 6v92 turbo

  • i hear u can run the balls off these motors.....they even idle and run wit a hole in the block or hole in the piston n shit like that...old school tough...sound is awesome

  • What kind of Transmission are you running behind that 6v-92?

  • @MattytheDem Most likely a 9 spd eaton. That was a common trans behind the 6v92

  • V6 POWER!

  • Hmmmmmmmmm something about your comment just isnt right. Im having trouble putting my finger on it though.... wait...... oh well, nevermind.......

  • I could drive that thing all day and night.

  • That's the WONDERFUL thing about the old 2 stroke Detroits. You don't have to drive it all night. After driving it all day your ears will be ringing and you'll HEAR it all night!!! Sorta like an old John Deere 'D' aka JOHNNY POPPER.

  • Does this have the roots blower?

  • Yes.

  • Probably has big injectors.

  • @Hotrodx199

    2 stroke diesel n00bs

  • Stock detroits don't smoke that much, especially with a turbo.

  • tuned right they do not smoke at all

  • wow thats fucking loud man

  • its struggling because it needs a tune-up. it shouldnt be smoking like that going down the hill. set your valve lash and injector timing, run the rack, and set the governor gap as per the DD shop manual, youll feel the difference.

  • detroit diesels love to revv high

  • no, they don't. they redline at 2100-2150 rpm. they only sound like theyre revving higher because they have twice the number of power strokes per revolution. if you dont believe me, take a look at the ID plate on any detroit diesel and look at the governed speed stamped on the plate. 2100 RPM

  • This so reminds me of Maximum Overdrive.

  • detroit diesel power!!!

  • Sounds like a ferrari 250 gto

  • @charles5448

That's crazy, it actually does a bit!

  • 6V92 2 stroke Detroit Diesel baby!Screaming Jimmy!

  • umm...diesel for sure

  • @danetp

ASSHOLE I had to change my pants after I watched this just came all over the place it sound so good lol jk dude great vid

  • @danetp 2-stroke diesel for sure..

  • @unclewilly2 really dude read the damn video discription

  • @unclewilly2 ok i asket that before 5 month ^^ no im a great 2 strojke diesel fan i LLOOVVEE that screaming

  • @unclewilly2 I have never been that stupid

  • @unclewilly2 It runs off of children's tears

  • @MDizzel16 ^^ i love that sound ... im so sorry ... now i know its a Fucking Detroit 2 stroke ... and i fucking LOVE THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yehaaaaaa!!!!! really sry to you all!!!!!!

  • fukn A cotton!

  • ears slowly starting to enter a bleeding condition.

  • the old 2 strokes sound like they came from hell. With the right gears and if you turned them up those old detroits had killer top end!!! No big truck could keep up with you on flat ground until you came to a hill then its a different story

  • @1978mtb haha, with a detroit you mention the word hill they start slowin down

  • driver like u hater that how u drive those 2 strokes... i have a gmc 9500 with the 8v71 in her with jakes.. it sounds wicked when u jake with her.

  • My 1980 Ford F-600 has a 6V-92TA and twin stacks and it sounds so mean down the highway. I love the old Jimmies! If a Jimmy is tuned right with the correct turbo/governor/injector set up and it will be able to keep with the new motors all day, remember a Cat will only turn 2100 and a Jimmy will do 2800 easy.

  • you should post a video

  • we have an old ford lt wrecker at work, with a 8v71 in it... it can easily out run the newer wreckers.

neither are new by no means but ones got a 475 hp 60 series and the other has a c15

1/3 the fuel mileage... and half the hearing when ya get there but man she hauls

  • sick freaking nasty man

  • that sound so sweet

  • Unfortunately the problem with these motors is that they would only last around 350k-400 miles before an overhaul. The highest i heard was around 475k-500 no more then that.

  • the 53 na was governed to 2800. the turbo 2500.. both the 71 and 92 series 2100..

  • how does it make that noise, like that really loud engine sound. like did you do anything to it to get that sound or is it just the way the engine is?? sounds awesome though, i enjoy it.

  • it probably has no muffler

  • no its a 2-stroke diesel engine. they are loud and have lots of power

  • yah and it also has no muffler and compared to the newer detroit engines and the cats now these 6 cylinder detroits are underpowered.

  • he needs to slap a 12v-71 in that thing

    o.O

  • its 2 stroke mate

  • wut year is it and how many gears? b ut she has a mean sound. NICE!!!

  • Before you drive anything with a detroit 2-stroke, slam your hand in the door. Drive it like you're pissed at it!

  • Its all about the sound

  • understand this... to drive a detroit you have to rap it out ive been doing it for years so quit being ignorant and saying hes driving it like a race car cuz hes not 500 bushel of corn is heavy

  • 6.2, 6.5, 6.9, they are all toy engines for

pickup trucks and wanna-be truckers. This video is about a 6v92 in a truck

slightly larger than a pickup. Pay

    attention here , kids.

  • yeah no shit lol

  • Dis doesnt have nothn on a CAT engine

  • Your right it sounds good and actually runs.

  • oh and that gauge is the tach not the speedo

  • If you knew anything at all about a Detroit you'd know you gotta run them good and fast to have any power and torque. By the way max RPM (stock) for a Detroit is 2300 RPM and that sure as hell is not going to hurt it at all. So until you know what your talking about to back up what you say, shut the hell up because we don't want to listen to your ignorant stupidity

  • I read somewhere that depending on application different governor springs (or something?!) allow some of these to rev to 3000rpm, maybe military applications or something I cant remember and I may be wrong?

  • That is quite possible, but I was talking stock. Any damn fool can make and engine run faster, but if the factory limited it at that speed, it was not built to go faster and still be reliable

  • No I was talking factory application, I read somewhere that from the factory some revved to 3000rpm max.

I have noticed with other engines different max speeds from the factory, the higher revving ones had more power and needed a rebuild more often, typical example was the deltic engine 1500rpm and 1650bhp or 2000rpm and 2500bhp for military boats.

  • I was told that the different series motors were governed differently, which makes sense. A 53 series was governed higher than a 71 series which was governed higher than a 92 series. I don't remember the exact numbers though...

  • Is it like a 2 stroke dirt bike you gotta keep it rapped out to stay in the powerband? But diesels have a much wider powerband to begin with don't they?

  • Yes, most diesels have a wider power band, but you do have to keep the detroits reved up, but too all the older diesels of that era needed to be, the newer computer controlled engines don't because the computer manipulates everything so you can run it slower

  • SWEET!!!

  • nice noise

  • this is an 1984 brigadier

  • Looks like an H body like a 1970's or older. My old boss has a 1968 GMC H body grain truck with a 292 6 banger, abit gutless but still holds it's own, Same dash as this, It must be an H body.

  • you just gotta love the sound of a screamin jimmy.

  • Gotta love it,can hear it miles away. :)

  • these things were like tanks! they would do anything and for those of you that still have em CAN do anything!

    i miss em.....

    Matt

  • considering the fact that these engines practically helped build america, its funny how those pussy environmentalists "epa'd" these engines out of usefulness

  • Mucic to my ears! The would still be making them if it wasn't for the BS polution shit

  • Yes it is a 2-Stroke, and unfortunatly i doubt it has a jake brake (exhaust break).

  • You're right on the 2 stroke part, but i kind of disagree with you on the "doubt it has a jake brake" It's hard telling wether it does or doesn't. But i'm assuming it does.

  • Nice, sounds very good. is the engine 2-stroke??

also it would be great if u can make a video of exhaust brake while going downhill loaded, would love to hear that

  • detroit rocks!!!!!

  • who needs power when you have sound like that man

  • talk about pissing the neighbours off!! lol. fucking great sound. make more vids!

  • make some more vids... please!

  • Rock n roll

  • sorry i had a mistake while referring to the 6-71 engine those are inline 6'ers, not V type engines, still they did a very good job whit those engines otherwise, they have had disapear long time ago

  • detriot diesel are the best

  • Wasnt the engine in the chevy and gmc pickups made by detroit before the duramax came along? I know that gm owns a big stake of detroit diesel

  • actually the pick ups where converted 350 cid gas engines with a bit of mods, highly unreliable but lots of power and tourque

  • the only one that were converts were the 350 diesels in the cads and buicks and what not but the 6.2 was gutless and the 6.5 turbo made less horsepower and torque than the n/a 6.9 international in the fords and s 1900s

  • 6.2 might not have had alot of power compared to some of the newer diesels, but they are solid engines. I had one go over 400,000 miles. Also, the 350 Olds diesel was NOT a converted gasser. The block looked the same on the outside, but the internals were much heavier. When was the last time you saw a gas engine that weighed 750 lbs??

  • the FE and 385 series fords.

  • they are by no means a "solid" engine. we replace probably on average 5 to 6 engines a month in humvees 6.2, 6.5, and 6.5T they all go in under a year of install as a rule of thumb. and thats even a engine that is considered a "beefed up" or "better" engine desing that "cured" all the problems those pos had.

  • they were built for fuel mileage not power

  • the 6.5 wasn't a very reliable motor, but a 6.5 turbo could out tow the 6.9 international. The 6.2 wasn't a powerhouse, but it was never designed to be. They were designed to be economical and that they were. The olds was never a gasser, chevy had converted their 350's to diesel, they were the crud motors that you were thinking of.

  • id shit my britches if a 6.5 ever out pulled my 6.9 not to mention start adding things to it haha i personally have out pulled out run the gm diesels short of a duramax but hey ive tuned it up just a tad but with farm diesel no chevy could touch it

  • Necro, a 6.5 TURBO will out tow a 6.9 natural. A 6.9 N will outpull a 6.5N, however very very few 6.5N's were actually made. Keep in mind comparing a non turbo to a turbo is very unfair though. If you were to turbocharge a 6.9 it would outpull the 6.5 turbo. I am a cummins guy, but for that era If i had to have anything but cummins i would go with the 6.9, it combined power and reliability. The 6.5 just had power. Keep in mind the 6.5 is a replacement for a 6.9 ERA engine. The 6.2.

  • i understand where your coming from im just going on the experiences ive had hauling cows and scrap iron with my truck against my buddies dads but either way id rather have a 6b im working on putting my 6.9 into one of my late 70s 4 wheel pulls but also im rebuilding a turbo of an 7.3 idi for it with hopes of someday running twins one off each bank for reliabilty and space

  • yeah it was co designed by gm and built by detroit

  • i forgot to ad,in mexico they are known as GMC engines, same with the 8v-series until detroit diesel formally started using the 60-series

  • i remember that sound its music to my ears,GMC6-v71 and 6-v92Turbo and non turbo was in the back of mexican busses up until the mid 90's,it was replaced by a detuned version of detroit diesel(60 series)and famsa trucks(international)until they used the mercedes-benz engines brought from germany(MB took over famsa and later used the brazilian MB engine)my brother says they're a bit slow but they won't let u down like cummins or perkins and that sound .......and their smoke...awesome

  • now thats one sound that doesnt get annoying

  • 萌え☆

  • great sound i saw a 1988 for sale i think tht was the last year for these trucks

  • does it have jakes

  • I could listen to that all day.

  • A screamin Detroit Diesel is one of the best sounds in the world...Ever!!!

  • Screamin' Jimmy!! Nice!!

  • MORE VIDS MORE VIDS MORE VIDS !!

  • for someone to think a v8 scanias sound is compairable to a gm must be a bit limp wristed

  • theres a truck im looking at buying its an international s line with a 6v92 supercharged plus turbo 350hp with 12 sp spicer box was an ex shell fuel truck in australia, aparently shell prefered the 2strokes

  • Alot of sound and smoke.3406 Cat sounds mean through straight pipes too.

  • What a beautiful sound

  • dont she sound good

  • Do WORK DIESEL...DO WORK!!! lol

  • how were you able to get a ride in that truck?

  • he owns the truck... no shit he can get a "ride"

  • haha...yup

  • this thing gotta have something in the loins...that sound is music to my ears. Awesome video!

  • Open exhast? No muffler or no headers? Also it doesnt seem to be strugglen, it looks like its haulen ass!

  • What a sound man!
