  • This influenced John Lennon to write "Sexy Sadie" in 1968, and also, The Beatles played this song on January 3rd, 1969, during the Get Back/ Let It Be Sessions.

  • THE MIRACLES are the MOST COVERED Motown group of ALL TIME ....and the MOST INFLUENTIAL to boot. So, why are the artists that copy and cover their tunes in THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME...but THEY'RE NOT ??

  • 'From the Beginning' album. still get chills and glassy-eyed when i hear it. thanks a lot for sharing.

  • Love the word play

  • THIS SONG GOES OUT TO MANNY WIFE... THIS IS HOW YOU MAKE HIM FEEL...

  • this was a direct influence to This Boy as well by The Beatles

  • The Beatles were hugley influenced by Smokey on so many songs. Check out George Harrison's solo song Pure Smokey.

  • In a 1969 interview, John Lennon said that his favorite songs was "I've Been Good To You" by Smokey Robinson & The Miracles. This piece begins with the line: Look What You've Done / You made a fool out of someone, compared to "Sexy Sadie": What have you done? / You made a fool of everyone, which are obviously taken from this subject.

  • You can tell that the Beatles early records were influenced by Smokey.

  • @rover940 you might not here the connection but Lennon himself said this song was the main inspiration for sexy sadie

  • right up there with "Bad Girl". Dont see the connection with Sexy Sadie though.

  • My all time favorite of Smokey's. Why can't I find it to download onto a CD?

  • This is doo-wwop, R&b, and Soul.

  • and the Beatles "This Boy"

  • this is our song yolanda, i love you. from: el rodrigo.

  • This song influenced "This Boy" as well!

  • Todays R&B isnt the real R&B ...

  • The repackaged CD of Marshall Crenshaw's first album features him doing a live version of this as one of its extra tracks (he's from the Detroit area). He does a nice job with it, albeit not quite up to this.

  • great song reminds me of my teen years and a perticular girl friend of mine back then

  • >> MASTERPIECE FOR YESTERDAY > TODAY & FOREVER > PRICELESS <<

  • Besides Still Water by the Four Tops...this is a firrrrrme jam. Love this song.

  • WOW! This does sound a lot like This Boy-The Beatles!

  • This is such an amazing song only smokey can make beautiful music like this I can listen to this all night long

  • This is a MIRACLES song. (not a Smokey solo song ) . 1962

  • I like this song very much. It's the best!

  • sounds similar to Angel Baby by Rosie & The Originals...well at least not the vocals....

  • This was a direct influence on the Beatles' Sexy Sadie.

  • yeah someone just told me that today, someone commented on a radio head song it sounded like sexy sadie then someone told me this is what helped influence sexy sadie , interesting fact to no

  • This song is John Lennon's favorite Smokey Robinson song! And he likes a lot of them. This song influenced Sexy Sadie...Ive been good to you starts, "Look what you've done...You've made a fool out of someone...Lennon changed it up a little on Sexy Sadie starting off, "What have you done...You've made a fool of everyone. This is really a great song!!!

  • And "This Boy" too.

  • --influence on "That Boy" as well!

  • @darkknight91 seems like "this boy" too

  • @darkknight91 i can see the lyrics being an influence, But it was mostly an influence in "This Boy"

  • @RKRSizzle11 I'm sure a lot of Smokey's songs had an influence on the Beatles but John said this one in particular was a direct influence on Sexy Sadie.

  • @darkknight91

It also influenced "This Boy" by the Beatles.

  • incredible

  • Damn, found this song linked to "Don Juan" by the Ideals. I'm going to have to look up more of the doo wop Smokey Robinson era. Bad ass song.

  • If you like this one check out The Young Vandels version with Damon Harris (Eddie Kendricks first replacement) singing lead.

  • A good song. Did you ever listen to their Version of After all with Claudette on lead Vocals really good. I like the Doo Wop era of smokey Robinson and the Miracles. I have a few tracks on my I-pod along came Love, Bad Girl, I've Been Good to you, After all, Cry, and two or three others good stuff.
