im 16 and I am flippin out over the 1960 wow man tht ones definity my fav. i luv all american classic's 70's back preferarbly earley 50's to mid 60's. thunderbirds r my favorites like "baby birds", "squarebirds", "rocketbirds", 'flairbirds". all styling on cars we will never see again. i GOT to drive my dads 1960 t-bird its all white with a black and white 2 tone interior and powerful 352. My friends don't like but I know i am a LUCKY kid.:)
This is a beautiful collection. I also like the '65 best out of your collection, but I also like the '64, '65, and '66 models a bit more than the earlier ones. The '65 had either a 390 or a 428. You hear some amazing sounds when you floor it in those cars. I really hope to have my first car a '64-66 T-Bird actually. They have a reputation as a reliable vehicle. (I'm too young to get a license) I love your collection, and you should make a pedal-to-the metal video of your '65 :). -Ian
I love these cars and the Beach Boys. I think the black hardtop or Landau look is too formal for the beach or drive-in. I see the Landau as an opera car. Convertibles would be more appropriate. My neighbor's son had a new black 60 hardtop and a maroon and cream 65 Landau. He never liked the bullet Birds like I do. There's a 63 red and white hardtop that's been on a grease rack for a year three blocks from my place. Today there was a box on the trunk. Maybe the part arrived!
I would say the '65 and '62 ride equally as well. I have not driven the '60 since it has been restored - in fact, the engine is about to be reinstalled after about 3 years out of the car because of the restoration. I will be testing the suspension after the engine and the rebuilt transmission is installed and improving it where it needs to be.
Actually, the 1960 squarebird shown has since been totally stripped and restored. The 1962 is in GREAT condition, low miles - about 50,000.
Most people would say the 1965 is their LEAST favorite but for some reason this car is my favorite. I can't explain why, it just is. It too has low miles, about 70,000. It is in very nice shape. Thanks for your comments, I love my cars!
I love 65's. I had a 64. Got it out of the woods in Maryland somewhere, it was sitting for 20 years. I pretty much had no funds, (i'm 17) Had to get rid of it. :( Still on the hunt for a nice 64 though. Love your cars. Very beautiful.
Arev You The onre who has the 1965 landeau for sale on E-bay. If So Couls you send me an e-mail with some more pictures. i am looking for one as i had a new on in 1965 and have never stopped thinking about them since. Now that i am ready for one.
I'm jealous, THREE BLACK BIRDS!!! LOL!!! I Have a 1960 430cid White T-Bird & my folks have a 1958 Bird we are redoing. Thanks 4 the video, the cars look GREAT.
Our family had a '59 (lighter color than this '60) that I got to drive a little when I got my temp but by the time I got my permit, we had a '65. Great car. Took it to the promo and everywhere else afterwards. This one is a dead ringer for the '65 T-Bird Landau.
Died in a wreck (not my fault in '71). People stil ask me if I got the T-bird.
thank for the comment. I love my cars. The 1960 has since been totally stripped and is in the restoration shop awaiting the new paint. I have about $25,000 invested so far - ouch!
car was disassembled (expensive in itself), including engine compartment, mechanicals under the car, interior (except for dash), paint was stripped, new rocker panels, the body was perfected, new paint - all new chrome and trim purchased off eBay, new seat covers, etc. I have spent more restoring than I will ever get out of it since it is "only" a hard top, not a convertible. But I wanted it back to looking the way it did in its heyday.

That is quite a sum, but I'm sure it's worth it. What have you had done to it, if you don't mind going into detail?
